    I Have had a real one hover 4 ft above my head, this model has the exact turbine/ transmission wine sound the real ones do!!! I always admired the heavy Chinook engine/xmission wine, No other helicopter has this particular sound yet this model does! As a helicopter mechanic I am impressed.

    • @chrise842
      @chrise842 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, kind of.
      Yes, the sound is very unique - both the model as well as in real life.
      But no where near that very low distinct and rhythmic base sound.

      @@chrise842 yes what you say has to be true because of the immense size difference between the the real one and the model, we could also expect the rotor wash to be bit heavier. Thanks for the dignified and significant point made!

      @idkbroski815 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@emittevans9014 I'm an FE and will tell you that your original comment was goofy as hell. AH64, UH60 and CH47's all have somewhat similar drivetrain sounds, with the biggest change being the distinct "wop wop wop" from chinooks that the other two don't carry. Besides the difference in the sound of the rotor systems, the engines and transmissions sound similar enough that you can not tell me that you could distinguish the difference between any of them from a difference without hearing the distinctive sound from the rotor system itself

    • @emittevans9014
      @emittevans9014 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@idkbroski815 you assume that I was talking in comparison to the choppers you mentioned, but I was not. I was talking in comparison to the UH1H hueys that I worked on. They do not have the transmission wine As I correctly said because they dont have similar xmissions to the aircraft you mentioned. I was tempted to believe that you didnt know what you were talking about but our hanger was right beside a Chinook hanger and all helicopters had to taxi by our hanger #6 to get to the runway at Campbell airfield including the Black Hawk wich was a new aircraft at the time and was killing people due to the unshielded stabulator, this was 36 yrs ago before your time I'm sure. I find your statement correct about the black hawk and ch47 having the same sound other than the rotor blades but the chinook blades are much quieter than the BH the xmissions much bigger I'm sure so the xmission wine resonate louder and clearer. Ah64 where out there at their own separate airfield. I was a kid back then, talking brashly with no respect when I addressed another man, now I know the difference and respectfully advise you to do the same, life health and all issues will go alot better because you are being watched and rewarded for what you do. Show disrespect, receive disrespect. From somebody it will come. You're right, hell is goofy but it's also real and i'm taking steps not to wind up there. Christian/KJV/Lord Jesus Christ

      Not exactly. Yes they are rigged not to hit each other but these blades are in the same plane of operation while a real Chinook's blades are not. They cross each other's plane of operation but it is likely for a significant reason they are not operating in the same plane 100% of the time like this model. It's still a killer RC version though.

    • @atomicskull6405
      @atomicskull6405 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's not as hard as you might think, I mean it *is* time consuming but any FBL unit that can set up a custom 4 channel swashplate mix can do tandem. Tandems only need 2 servos per swashplate, fore/aft "cyclic" is actually done by differencing the collective pitch of the front and rear rotor disk. On a 3DIGI for example you'd start with a 4 servo swashplate configuration and set it into an "X" instead of a "+"configuration with the top two legs of the X being the front swashplate servos and the lower two legs the rear. In this way when you move the cyclic forward the top two servos move up and the rear two servos move down while left/right cyclic moves the servos on each side up or down together. To the controller the two separate disks operate as one rotor system. The front and rear swashplates have only left/right cyclic, not fore/aft. Yaw on tandems is by opposing cyclic so on a 3DIGI you'd just mix the rudder channel into the cyclics so it causes the front cyclic to go one way and the rear cyclic to go the other way in response to rudder.
      The adjustments needed are mechanical servo limits and centering of the pitch at center collective and setting maximum cyclic and collective angle of attack (all of which will all be similar to a single rotor helicopter), and some tweaking of the gyro gains where you start low and gradually bring them up till you have it where you want it.

      Scale flyers always say that to cover up the fact they can't actually fly a heli well. Whereas people who can fly scale and 3D generally don't bother to fly scale because it's boring to do and watch if you have actual skills. 3D can be flowy and smooth or aggressive and violent, this can only fly left and right for eternity. Hundreds of hours to build a heli that is going to turn left and right and left and right in front of pensioners is a lot more spastic than flying skills and being creative in the air. Awesome build but 30 seconds in to the flight I'd rather be watching a 1s micro heli being flown with skill.

      Flying an R/C heli is horribly difficult compared to fixed-wing. At least a tandem-rotor unit, such as a Chinook, is a LITTLE easier - but it's still a b***h compared to fixed.
      And cars or boats are a walk in the park, by comparison.
      I've got cars and trucks (and a tank!) and had helos and a quad drone. I even had a little indoor-only Chinook that I fooled around with.

    This is awesome. I always day dreamed about having an RC Chinook, it could fly in, land (or hover) and have a car drive out the back etc. So cool to see this :)
    It's very well made, at 1:03 you can see him move the rear rotor and the front one moves as well, to ensure they don't hit while spinning - pretty fundamental stuff i know, but it still adds complexity to the build. 10/10
