Chinook helicopters by the Boeing since 1961... What a legend....used in Vietnam war ...so many varieties... almost all the air forces have them...to be around for 6 decades is truly something...👍😂😍
Yes, during America's aggression against the Vietnamese people.

my very first first jump was from the chinook, awesome aircraft.
Oh my God,I still can't believe that a rotor that big can spin so fast, that's just so amazing. I just pray that I'll be one of the fortunate ones to fly some of these great inventions in the future.... I thank those that put there time in saving there country, you all are my role model.RESPECT✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
Habiliyafeisa
Hyyyyyt year I
to be honest they spin at 225 rpm so that’s 3.75 rps

Never tire of these choppers! Up-close they're simply beasts; and faithful ones at that!

I just love the sound of an engine. No matter what type, from a tractor to a beast like this. Lovely.
The only thing is that turbine engines sound a lot like vacuum cleaners!!😁
Agreed, but let's be honest here, old school big steam engines are best of all in my book.

Me too, I saw that Chick popped out of the starboard side of the cabin and thought what the heck?!
4:15 The rotors look like they're overlapping. How do they prevent them from hitting one another? Are they both connected together with a shaft and gears or something, so they stay in synchronization?
Yes
That was bad ass!!!
That Chinooks fly is amazing, that Chinooks are as fast as they are is miraculous. Remarkable engineering.
The CH-47 always scared me when I was younger, I still find it kind of menacing even now!

4:00 such an awesome sight. Actually kinda neat seeing that crewman out the rear hatch.
So awesome watching them spin up. Such incredible lift and all held up by the rotor shaft. Great concept having 2 counter rotating rotors equally rotating shaft driven together for heavy lift.

How many minute need from prepare to takeoff?
Nice video!
Each blade is a miniature wing in itself may be to provide high lift.interesting to see the the blades assume concave shape during lift off.
This sound really takes me back to my time with the air cavalry.

I used to see these as a child and ask "why don't the blades hit" and I only found out fairly recently, after long forgetting that curious question as a child, at 35 years old, when I was told there is a shaft joining the engines together, so like an IC engine, the camshaft(s) and pistons are timed never to hit (unless of course your chain or belt break).
I always saw this when I was a kid. Wayback 2004

Well this Transport Helicopter is beautiful and great for troops and other things i guess the Crane Helicopter or Mil Mi 26 rotate the propeller at very high speeds to lift heavy loads. So this Helicopter is somewhat special because the materials last longer and less maintenance is needed.

Communications for talking to the pilot.
How both blades not collides other are so near
I'm confuse how both don't hit each other 🙄🤔
Since height of both is different and there rotation is also well calibrated to not hit each other.
Also they have opposite rotation.
Like indian roads 🤣🤣😂🤣😂

They are not at the same level
It's hard to sync that one sec upper lower limit and they might smack 😂
How much is one?
watching the beginning, thinking:
"your job, should you choose to accept it, is to ride around in a tube-y thing, held aloft at hundreds, sometimes thousands, of feet in the air, by eight floppy things that kinda flap in the breeze when they aren't in use. you ok with that?"

I came from car crushers 2
How come the blades don't crash into each other!?
Synchronization from the mechanics rotors and they are at different levels of height. Do not forget the engines that provide movement to blades and the Helicopter. The blades do not need to sync if the pilot does not moves forward or backwards he has the Jet Engines to do that. I guess this kind of chopper was made to move in a straight line with no really fancy moves.
Excellent 👍
Beautiful monster 👻
I love this ❤️
Me trying to understand what level of coordination Exists between the two blades
I think it's due to difference in their height 👍
Height
It's due to the mechanical rotor blade co-ordination achieved by same angular frequency but different phase of rotation
@@MSDhoni-rr5up qqq
Si
I wonder how they balance the collective between the two rotors.
How the heck do those turbine engines make such high decimal sound? Insane
Vs O bz
Lol how about move a lot of air, where the free spinning turbine turbulence all sucked in air. An mechanical airhorn basically makes use of this effect to create a hell of a noise.

Does it look like the upper ones blade actually cross path with the lower ones . Or is it optical illusion
They do mesh. Since they are mechanically connected, they do not collide.

I see these flying overhead almost daily (Netherlands, along the river Rhine), and they never cease to amaze me...
You can easily tell their approach by their distinctive chugga-chugga noise.
We also get SeaKings and Apaches every now and then.
I do, however, often wonder how much fuel is needlessly spent on moving about, especially since fuel prices have gone through the roof the recent few years... We're selling our car, because we get 'punished' with vastly raised taxes for having one. But that's just us mere mortals.
Military never ever has a shortage of funds.
But it still stings nevertheless.
Still - nice choppers 👍
Can someone tell me what that fluid was, that was coming off the base of the front rotor?
