Filming with the L.A basin in the background, Ren added the BEYOTCH in honor of Snoop and they added the Dr. Dre riff from The Next Episode to honor both. classy AF
Please check out some of his older stuff! Hes been making bangers for a decade and more! Like: Ocean, Crutch, Pentinence, Patience, Ready for You, Hold On, etc...
Another enjoyable reaction. The live acoustic version of “Murderer” is incredible and my favorite of the two, and the LA skyline at dusk looks beautiful. I recently learned that “Murderer was actually written and recorded before “Hi Ren.” Marty DeHart (@Parula06) shared that the live acoustic performance was shot in LA a couple of days before its release, but the original video was shot in Brighton in the Spring of 2022. The song, apart from the original melody and lyrics, gives a nod to Barrington Levy’s "Murderer," Damian Marley’s "Welcome to Jamrock," Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode," and Ini Kamoze’s "World A Music,” with some Sublime vibes in the mix, yet, the song is unmistakably a Ren original. Pete Eley (@PeteEley01) suggested that the guitar riff (in the middle of the song) is a nod to Django Reinhardt. Black Pegasus (@BlackPegasusRaps) was the first to point out that the verse “out in the streets they call it murder” is originally from an Ini Kamoze song, “World A Music,” released in 1983, and that the line was made famous when Damian Marley sang it on “Welcome to Jamrock.” Hexenkind1 (@Hexenkind1) explained that it is actually “out in the streets they call it merther” in the original. "Merther" is the "merging" of listening to reggae while smoking weed.
I just imagine Yanks walking out their houses below in LA saying whats that beautiful music and thoss bars .Hes a Welsh dude on top of the hill mate .Jesus . " No but Close " Hereth ended the Lesson .
So pleased you have done this version as well, such a brilliant and perfect addition to the best music catalogue I have ever encountered! My personal favourite is his song with Molly McKinna " Penitence"
Ah superb! He's proper good isn't he! You certainly vibed with Ren there. Love it! Not sure if you've reacted to Animal Flow or Genesis, both are great Ren video pus acoustic contrast tracks. This one, shot with Los Angeles backdrop, really adds to the song.
today's Ren's birthday
