32:12 - why does Ron always get caught up with naming "AA" when ppl talk about "The Program". Cuz he's not doing it as a bit or to be funny. He gets serious & always corrects someone when they say "AA" - but saying "the program" is ok? Yes. I kno it has anonymous in name. But you're not naming the other ppl in the program. It's also not exactly a secret. What is that about?
The beautiful irony of Billy’s thought processes here are most fully on display when he tells Wonder Boy “this is for me” failing to comprehend the basic nature of an apology or amends procedure. It’s great. He is a consummate showman. The only label appropriate for the tone of the above mentioned line of dialogue; or the following: “I’m not taking a chance on RE-lapsing”, is righteous indignation which for an actor he nails on the head. He’s auditioning for his own sobriety. It’s all time. I could even see him using Hawk and WB’s responses as an excuse to drink when coupled with the not ironic comments by R&F. “No one believed in Billy how could Billy believe in Billy?”
Good observation. His amends sound like an audition scene, he's making himself cry on cue for maximum effect, he treats his friends like casting directors.
*Righteous Indignation* - thats a beautiful description. This is literally The Billy Staples Story: A Guide to Being an Unapologetic Drunk and Oozing Righteous Indignation
Defense mode, pathological Billy can't stop himself from saying 'y'know' as he's forming the excuse in his head. It's impossible to unhear it. MORE BILLY! 🍊
I loved it when he blew off that caller's comments like nothing and Ron immediately says something like 'But how do we know he didn't get to you and you're not just saying that and harboring resentment" hahah dumbass had to backtrack. He lied about all of that isolated/resentment shit because he heard it in meetings and witnessed the sympathy it garnered, and fatass loves sympathy as much as he loves booze and food.
I’m not trying to troll him but he really has a tough lot not having a very high iq and all these body image issues on top. It’s all his fault. His ability to delude himself rivals qanon but it is fun to listen to for sure
Has Billy ever been correct about anything he's talked about? He's an expert in his mind about almost everything, yet he knows nothing about whatever topic he's discussing. Religion, addiction, recovery, he's totally ignorant on all these subjects.
Billy is a prime example of the Dunning-Kruger effect. He's too stupid to know that he doesn't know anything, and he's not willing to learn because he thinks he already knows everything.
Ron called him out a few times for being preachy towards others when he's straight. When Billy screws up, he unwaveringly declares he's accountable but not responsible for his actions, (whatever that means), and cites one of his 15 addictions as the cause. His stories of failure are such gold.
@@captainwohop "Only I can take responsibility for my actions which I cannot be responsible for because of my disease, which I humbly hope you forgive me for" is literally how bad Billy is at thinking sober. Not to mention he will say this line six different ways one after another. Billy could just never stop dope feinding or dry drinking while on the show.
Can we all accept that Fez brings up Mikey D’s memory proficiency to troll him? The guy can never remember a single date or detail but he allegedly has highly functional autobiographical memory.
I remember that blizzard well.... Billy could not have gone anywhere. His lies don't even come close to believable. AND a therapist working on a national holiday? Fast forward to today, Billy still hasn't learned shit.
The "czechoslovakian friend" is 100% fiction. Born and living in Billy's head alone. I have both Czech and Slovak friends, and I assure you, no real person would tell someone he's "czechoslovakian" in 2003. That's simply not how it works.
My favorite Fez Marie is the one putting the boots to Billy Staples.
Billy is just the worst. Yet I cant stop listening to him blab lmao
Billy's there to make the rest of us feel normal & accomplished.
Now did he die already, or did he manage to outlive Fez?
that's a good question I bet hes alive somehow

Five
Mins later he actually says: “Diminishing my sobriety is not good for my sobriety”

Either ESD, Black Earl, Staples and Fez are the greatest actors of all time or maybe some things aren't a bit
This is why Billy's daughter hates his fucking guts and ignores him every Father's day lmao

"Yeom"
A typical Billy comment goes: "Blah blah blah, and mmm y'know uh... blah blah blah there and mm y'know... uh... blah blah blah."

He's a great example of why it's important to be honest with yourself, as opposed to spending a lifetime in self-delusion with constant bad decisions.
Caller Rob at nails Billy. 52:27
Bully just lying his ass off here as usual 😅
Bit or not, Billy seems like he was designed in a lab to be the most unlikeable narcissist on the planet.
Even in apology he's aggravating
Ron owes Fez 100 dollars for being drunk that weekend. The truth came out. lol
Ha relistened to that bit this morning.

When did Ron start looking like a melted candle? Hard to believe he isnt cracking jokes from Fezs chest like quatto.
How dare he get old.
Ron always wanted to think the best of Billy Staples. However, he has always been and will always be a big loser. Can’t believe anything he says.
Billy will make people want to drink.. He’s unbelievably annoying
He makes me glad that all of my drunken mistakes were nowhere near as awful as his.

Does anyone else have a Billy in their group of friends.
Thank God no
