The way he yells words that are of the vernacular of the topic but completely out of context just bc he doesn’t understand but oddly when he is discussing legal or spiritual things he really tries to bring it with the big words and it gets pretty whacky. He yells “this is a rebuttal!” when Fez is making a point, trying to insinuate something but I can’t quite 📍 down what exactly.
My goodness I want to scream every time Billy tries to act like he knows the law. Your past would NEVER be relevant in a court case? What Court has those types of idiotic rules? Yes, some cases do restrict a persons past when making a decision but that is the exception. Not the rule
Like most things on this show - yes and no. Billy was absolutely a drunk & an addict. One of the best works from their NY days was Al Dukes. At time - audience had no idea 90% of Dukes was a total work. Billy had a lot of bits that were a work .... Like the Poo-Paycheck but he had shoots like the Orange Ball of Failure & leaving show for 3 days. Or his incredibly drunken Mystery Date with those classic sound drops. Like all the beautiful things from Ron & Fez -- it was a Work/Shoot. And at end of day, who really knows.
@@bigcatclassics6759 No they just claimed that later to cover up how pathetic Al Dukes was "back in the day" once he became a successful higher up in radio. It's embarrassing.
How terrifying was it that Fez devolved at the end of his life???? Fez couldn't even eat a meal with other coworkers the last 10 years of his life, and he became some kind of fake gay character that was afraid of his own shadow..... Hopefully Fez is confident and holding court in heaven making fun of himself and his disasterous last years on earth
You need to relax a little bit there fella. First - he retired in 2015. I saw him at a live event in NYC with Ronnie in 2018. The last few years of his life weren't "disasterous". He was incredibly happy in Tampa. Yes - the panic & anxiety was a bit crippling, especially during 2010-2015. But to characterize his legacy in the last chapter of his professional & personal life as "disasterous" is not only innacurate - but it's really low. You're talking about the single greatest performer in the history of radio broadcasting. This guy peeled off his skin and let the audience into his every thought before it became cool to do so... The way every jamoke is out there now on IG or TikTok broadcasting everything & podcasting their every fear and thought about things. He was the "offended by everything guy" before "cancel culture" was even a word. There are still bits we don't know for sure - whether they were a work or shoot. But these panic years - those weren't void of entertaining radio & comedy. Cakehorn, Steakgate, Skippy the Cat saying Cookie, Donut Ants, Gaga Gaga, Mrs. Fields Cookies, Drunken St Paddys Day.... I can go on and on. I get that the guy might've been confused about sexuality - more confused than you would've liked him to be. But try to keep a little respect in your commentary about the man's personal & professional life -- a man who performed at a level that neither you or I could ever perform at.
Kennedy - I really hope you ready initial reply and respond with your thoughts. I think it's important (relative to this channel, not in life) - that you read what I had to say -- and maybe you can acknowledge what I said and admit that you came off in a weirdly aggressive, negative way about our beloved Fez Whatley - a mere months after his passing... Or - maybe you can help me understand why I'm wrong. And why it's important or cool to post about why Fez's last 10 years on this earth "were a tragic disaster".... And help me understand why it's important to verbalize your frustration with his "fake gay character". If there are good or interesting reasons to characterize his legacy like you did -- I'd like to know them. I'm ok with it. Just wondering what the motivation was here -- to post this, less than 2mo after the Big Cat passed away.
@@bigcatclassics6759 well said… all those bits you listed are my personal best-of. Fez struggling and the rest of the room living with it was brilliant. WNEW, JFK, and the Satellite years are just different phases of the same band, but all the albums have hits.
@@fastteddy9570 thank you. That's a great analogy with the band. Yea - it just bothers me - even when he was alive - to hear completely discredit his performances during the Extra Anxious Years. He still performed & entertained like a mf rockstar. I understand why some ppl might of grown tired of it -- Ron even reached several breaking points -- but i thinks it's lame for dudes like the above JO to put the thing out there.... Like Fez's last decade on radio was something to be ashamed of. Dude was the GOAT in my opinion - for straight "radio personality/broadcast performers of all time".
@@bigcatclassics6759 While I agree that Fez is one of the greatest radio performers ever, almost every bit you mentioned only happened because Ron was the puppeteer. Cakehorn, cat saying cookie, ghosts in his apartment. All only good because Ronnie was not having it. If the bit was just Fez bitching about an email he got, it would have been nothing if not for his balls being busted. I love the Big Cat, but he was damaged. To ignore that is to ignore what made that era of the show so amazing.
"Fooz is on Frez...."
-A Downed Out Billy Staples
FW: "Oh, an elephant gun couldn't bring him down."
RB: "I'd load that gun for the elephant."
Thank you for the laughs, Fez
Best show ever. Ronnie sounds like a million bucks..
Love the staples stuff you’re uploading Budday
I’m she I
This channel is amazing. I missed this era
What a channel this is. Thank you for all the uploads

He says “it was a very NORMAL but ODD (???) Sunday” but he was talking about Monday 😅😅😅
waking up to A ron and fez clip. perfection! Thank you buddaaayy!
From staples to earl to Dave to pepper, Radio had some kind of addiction to hiring dysfunctional people.
Damn Staples was fucked up
4 Xanax a day? Holy Christmas that is a lot
Billy would take Xanax like vitamins. He rationalized that he was supposed to take 4 xanax a day. Everyday. Soon as he gets up. Same times, every day.
Has never heard of a character witness

Billy was certainly unique in his idiocy
My goodness I want to scream every time Billy tries to act like he knows the law. Your past would NEVER be relevant in a court case? What Court has those types of idiotic rules? Yes, some cases do restrict a persons past when making a decision but that is the exception. Not the rule
Almost as dumb as a stupid youtube commenter who thinks they know the law AND twenty years after the fact
What's with that high pitched background noise? Can't even listen to thos
Terrestrial radio hum
Was staples a work?
Nope.
Partially

Fezs angle at comedy is being "mean" , which isn't funny
Fez in his prime was one damn funny mf'er!
All comedy is mean.
Waaaaahhhh
Sounds like someone can't take a fucking joke, you must be a fun one to interact with socially...
Yeah feel sorry for the loser known as Billy Staples
