I watch Rob and Motorman. I’ve been preaching slow speed since 2008 since I found “Ride Like a Pro”. Since then I’ve taken his course and practice every time I get on my bike. Which is everyday

As a rider and a professional truck driver I hate when bikes pull over to close in front of me. Leave us space in your personal vehicle and especially on your bike. I always back off the throttle or change lanes when I can but most truckers don't care about space anymore. Remember..If I have to stop can that truck? No it can't. Be safe and ride safer

Unlike a lot of people I enjoy highway riding at least in some cases. Riding to Tail of the Dragon from Connecticut was awful, but riding west to get to Sturgis wasn’t bad. Got to open the bike up and blast the stereo without worrying too much about cagers being jerks. Also since I was able to make time I was able to jump off and ride the backroads at times as well. Heat v. cold? I’ll take heat any day. Just get up early and the roads are clear and it’s not as hot. I can’t stand the cold, and we get a lot of it up here.

Tailgaters are the worst defiantly rage inducing especially when my wife is on the back. I live in the NE and every spring I have to get my bikes out and practice especially emergency stopping my right foot is always heavy after a 5-6 month break. Getting the slow speeds working again is always a challenge. I feel you on the surgery, I just had hernia surgery and can't get my bikes out right now to practice. Dropping a bike right now and there is no way I could pick it up without damaging my surgery.

I’m lucky each time I dropped my bike I was just backing outta the garage and my brother was there to get the bike off of me. We’re twins but I can’t workout like I used to be able to and my brother is a FN BEAST WITH HUGE ARMS AND ESPECIALLY FOREARMS. HES JACKED UP AND IN SHAPE. LUCKILY I NEVER DROPPED MY BIKE BEING ALONE OR ON THE STREETS. GOD BLESS EVERYONE AND RIDE SAFE AND ALWAYS REMEMBER 2wheels down and chrome up.

I agree with all of them… but riding highways and straight roads for hours, which I have several times and will again, is just not something I enjoy.. especially raining or at night time. Back roads all day! Also I rather ride in the cold than heat. I’m in TX

Hey bud, great channel and you made so many good points on this video. I've been coast to coast a few times and slow speed maneuvers was never even an issue to me as I was riding a smaller v twin and was flat footed to the ground. In my later years I picked up a 23 Goldwing which is sitting up higher and a whole other animal. Unfortunately I've dropped it two times already just by making stupid mistakes, once coming out of a gas station and having to stop where the driveway meets the road (gravel) and another time hitting that front brake with the bars turned. I started practicing some slow speed maneuvers a couple of weeks ago in a parking lot and signed up for a course in my area Long Island, New York. I'm feeling a little more confident already and will still put aside 30 minutes on my own per week. Hope all goes well with your upcoming surgery.

If you ride long enough you're going to drop your bike. Fortunately for me, this included hopping off the bike without ensuring the side stand was locked and another time practicing slow speed maneuvers.
Still, the saddest thing is watching someone duck walking their bike across a parking lot.

I duck walk my bike when I make a sharp U-turn on grass. I'm 74 years old and a little shaky. The bike usually lurches when the front wheel hits the edge of the sidewalk. I hurt enough all the time to risk falling

If you ever do have a tip-over (I hope you never do) I would love to see how effective are those bag guards and how they align with the front ones in case of one. When companies put out any type of protection for engines or bags they should also show us a test on how well they will work.

my biggest hate is caused by the bike I ride.... people flock to it and want to know everything about it.... I am required to plan extra time when I go for rides because of it..... I ride a '22 Royal Enfield Continental GT650... Ive been asked all kinds of things about it like, how much was it to restore, how long did it take to restore, how much did my old BSA, Norton, Triumph, etc cost me.... the conversations get even longer when they find out I've owned the bike since brand new... That said, I also love that folks are interested in the cafe bike styling (even if it does cause my biggest pet peeve)

I've been unable to ride due to a stroke , my comment is when I did ride. I always have used a flat surface tire not a round contact tire ( racing tires) this surface allows a credit card contact with the road, not just a dime size contact. This allows for safer travel and maneuvering , I rode as a escort rider, for several funeral homes in all conditions, rain, wind, traffic, slow speeds and higher speed then normal, without any problem or loss control. The flat surface the provided constant traction on any surface, pavement, sand, snow, and uneven roads.
Please tell me why the "racing tires" is so popular when it shortens the contact surface. Please let me know why, I ruden since 1964, until my stroke in 2006. Thanks for your pinion.

I’m now at the point that I’m only going to ride my brothers 1986 Harley fxstc. I just need to do some work to it to get it back up and riding. I now always wear a full face helmet. No more half shell helmet. God bless u all and ride safe and be courteous to all traffic and remember we’re the minority on the streets. MLLH&R. RIFE SAFE AND HAVE FUN MOST OF ALL. I refuse to ride on gravel roads. I ride on long, 2-week road trips 2-up. riding on a freshly graveled road, a rock landed onto my drive belt, and the rear sprocket shoved it into the belt. Riding on dirt, gravel, or grass, I don't mind. But I found it can have expensive consequences.

It's literally just knowing what each action does. If you brake it stops your bike. If you need to turn heavy you just slow down first and as you're turning accelerate slowly leaning into the turn. If you're already too fast lean into the turn while braking. I've never ridden a motorcycle. Am I close?

i'm 62, been on 2 wheels since i was 8, been driving 4 wheels since then too. if you see me in your mirror, relax, i've got your 6. think of me as your tailgunner.
if i'm riding, i'll stay on your 6, again, just relax.
if you dont like gravel, go ride on it. get the feel of it. your tires are going to roll over each rock, the bike might jerk left or right a bit, relax, centrifugal force will keep you upright.
if you dont like grass and dirt, go ride on it. get a feel for hot slick it is. slick roads require different skills.
FIRST SKILL TAUGHT IN MC CLASSES (YOUR FRONT BRAKE IS 80% OF YOUR STOPPING POWER) LMAO!!! stop it! that front brake will hurt you!
yes, in perfect riding conditions your front brake can save you. but why were you caught in that position? were sleep riding? were you speeding? too close to the vehicle in front of you? so you tailgate, but dont like being tailgated? oh you're just waiting to go around? is that a passing zone, or a double yellow?
grass, gravel, ice, rain slick roads call for rear brake with slight front brake. you have to know the difference.
PANIC. any panic riding upsets the balance of the bike.
find a friend with a grassy field, ask if you can ride in that field. i've got a 6acre field, come on over, we'll ride in my hay field.
    learn more skills.

As far as safety features. Here's what I hate. Wheelie control. I was so excited for the 1100 rebel until I found out it has anti wheelie tech. Wtf is that?! If I rip the throttle open hard enough to lift the front wheel. Let me lift that dang front wheel. It's my dang property. I'll wheelie it if I want.
Anyway. It's because of that I typically keep an old bike.

I'm really getting tired of the segment of Harley riders that don't like anything about any of the newer bikes. There's a whole group of Harley fanatics that will not embrace anything newer than a Twin Cam or even an EVO. Change is constant in all segments of our lives, including our motorcycles. Some Harley riders think that any new tech is bad. Look at a Harley model from each decade. The originals looked like bicycles. By the 30s, the tires and engines got larger and more sophisticated. By the 50s, hydraulic front suspension was included and at the end of the decade rear suspension was introduced. The 60s gave us electric start, the 70s were pretty stagnant , and the 80s brought the EVO engine, along with the end of the AMF influence.
Many of the "no change" folks are unwilling to acknowledge that a lot of the current changes are being dictated by our government, or governments around the globe. So Harley is not terrible for incorporating new technologies and safety features into their platforms. Every other brand is including these enhancements as well. Remember, dinosaurs died because they could evolve to new conditions. The Motor Company isn't going to die by not adapting, and we riders shouldn't either!!!

Rider aids make folks skip the natural process of riding by for example a 40000 bmw bike or the fastest bikes on the road can be neutered and tailored to ride like a beginner bike I really don’t even want a computer on my bike but accept a touch for some things like exhaust or intake doesn’t take a carb adjustment and usually doesn’t flag the engine light but I don’t really want an engine light on my motorcycle. So abs is fair I have used it but don’t need it fuel injection is nice and poppy with quick response but runs on a computer I learned to ride on bikes that to check the gas you made sure reserve is off and shake the tank and this isn’t that long ago

    Your attitude is wrong.
    Think about it.
Which is better vegetating on the couch or riding an interstate?
Take advantage of the interstates by using that time to chill and enjoy the wind.
(CAUTION: Don't get complacent! Meditative riding still requires you to keep a good following distance, giving you time to avoid road hazards, mirror checks, and overall situational awareness.)
I don't have a plaque on the wall, I just know the benefits I get from meditative riding. If you allow yourself to experience this you might as well.
