Imagine you're the crown Prince of Denmark, leading an army accompanied by your Sally's forces, marching into Sweden. Then, from the rolling fog you see, *behind you*, a force of Vikings. You think there's about half as many as your own army, so you order the defence. Then, it starts raining arrows. Under the torrent of arrows, your forces meet theirs and utter chaos erupts. Berserkers are tearing off heads and limbs, your levies more resemble deceased porcupines, and the bodies become more of an obstacle than the terrain. As you pray for God's favor to turn the battle, a goliath's shadow descends over you. "Your God has lead you to be at my mercy. You'd best pray to Odin that I have any."
From what I understand, that was actually quite common in Sweden back before we switched from patronymics to family names. Among my ancestors on my paternal grandmother's side, there were a bunch of Karl Larsson and Lars Karlsson.
Before your current ruler dies and you lose a huge chunk of your levies you should make a play for Sweden/Independence. That hook your King used on you to change your levy commitment to 'massive' is going to hurt more when your son, with his much lower martial takes over.
What I really like about this game is that it still feels like Crusader Kings II. It still has the crazy border gore, the wacky alt-history, and the downright bizarre tone and events. It feels like the old game, but just kinda better in a lot of ways. It's looks nicer, it's easier to understand, and it seems way better balanced. The fact that it's so much of a better game than II was on release makes me really excited for future DLC.
What they did to navies just breaks immersion for me. Logistics is everything in Warfare and they torpedo'd all of those features in CK3. Hopefully they will fix it in the future. Other then that, Game looks pretty solid. Still don't want to play it without mods tbh. The American Fan Fork mod is just too good.

Reasons John hasn't taken control of the kingdom of Sweden. 1... 2. He forgot he could. 3. He's too busy converting prisoner's to his faith, instead of just taking their land.
Could be that he doesn't want to. Technically being beholden to Sweden hasn't hurt him since his first character when he couldn't form the duchy he wanted. And being on the council is super nice.

90% sure she's just dinged enough fame to declare kingdom wars. Sweden is much weaker than her, Denmark has just had its arse kicked and Norway doesn't exist any more, but it probably could. I wouldn't put it past her to become Empress of Scandinavia. Also, so long as the declaration goes off before she dies, Orvar can probably still maintain the war even if he couldn't declare it, just like his grandfather did.
May the battle of Halmstad be forever remembered as a crowning achievement in Owlandian history. Can’t wait to be reminded of this at the end-of-playthrough recap.
Re: The Lappland war and the prisoner confusion. I was about to blame Jon for not noticing the primary heir at 16:45 was a 5 year old kid, and the guy in his dungeon was, you know an adult, but at 11:45 the game does shows that the kid was taken prisoner, so it's fair Jon is confused by it. It was Captain Hårkon of Värmaland who captured the child, not Jon's army, presumably they sold the kid. Sämund Svarte is just some courtier, I think?
Lassə it’s also his fault for having 100% war score and not concluding the war before deciding what to do with the ruler. But the successor getting a get out of jail free card is a bug in 1.0 that was patched in 1.1. Jon is staying on 1.0 to finish the play through, it looks like.
The question whose answer very well may determine the trajectory of the viking culture for decades to come will finally be answered next episode: Does Jon notice he's gained enough prestige in that war to invade a kingdom of his choosing? (I mean, probably not, but its possible...right?)

I remember thinking you were crazy for disinheriting your son for a daughter with multiple non-matrilineal heirs, but ill be damned if Ylva the Brave hasn't been one of the truest, most heroic rulers that this channel has ever seen. Jon, i trully believe the Tax Office its not a very good building for Uppland, you should stack the beneffits from the barracks you built, you could build blacksmith (with improve HI and Spearmen) or Archery Grounds or the building for the Knights because its upgrade its very very good. Gold is a issue, but for your main duchy Idk if its worth the investment.

Fun thing I found out, you can add succession laws to individual titles, it cost a good bit of prestige (1500) but it overrides the generic succession law. just in case anyone didn't know that, its buried a bit.
Jon just a tip. It’s better to split off specific units when you split up your armies, I tend to make one unit for sieges and another for battles. You can have a small army with nothing but knights to take out rebels.
1:05:20 you could have negotiated the heir of denmark after completing the war.. That way he would have been guaranteed not to die trying to fight again

Jon, i trully believe the Tax Office its not a very good building for Uppland, you should stack the beneffits from the barracks you built, you could build blacksmith (with improve HI and Spearmen) or Archery Grounds or the building for the Knights because its upgrade its very very good.
Gold is a issue, but for your main duchy Idk if its worth the investment.

Fun thing I found out, you can add succession laws to individual titles, it cost a good bit of prestige (1500) but it overrides the generic succession law. just in case anyone didn't know that, its buried a bit.

Jon just a tip. It’s better to split off specific units when you split up your armies, I tend to make one unit for sieges and another for battles. You can have a small army with nothing but knights to take out rebels.
