      Everything nowadays is just thin steel and wimpy frames. If you ever take a look at a 1500 frame from 1985 vs one from 2020 the difference is stupid. The old one looks like an actual pickup frame while the new one looks like a car frame extended to fit a bed.

      Good looking truck YES ... Bad Ass .. sadly far from it . Those trucks from the factory produced a whopping 230 horsepower . Actually depressing when we think back to the 65-66 Chevelle SS ... The LS5 454 produced 360 horsepower and it's sister engine the LS6 produced an estimated 450 HP with a solid-lifter camshaft and high-compression combustion chambers . It's unfortunate that in 1990 the 454 SS truck was sold on the OHHHH number on the boxside much like buying a pair of jeans with Jordache or Sergio Valente tag on the pocket .

Even the syclone and typhoons dont come with much hp from factory sadly

    • @7natcho
      @7natcho 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@exrae1992 totally agree sir ... with some major machine work and internals those trucks can be bad ass . The 454 1/2 ton was introduced at the wrong point in time . Government bringing in insane pollution control standards and the way all North American manufactures went about reducing emissions killed the truck . Even today the value of those trucks never appreciated the way many who saved them thought they would .

My point was the 454 engine used was NOT a powerful engine mostly due to government regulations and the appeal for most buyers was the 454 SS stickers on the box . When the trucks were announced many thought they were going to be a monster of a street machine but sadly that was not the case . The trucks were hard on fuel and way overrated lacking power that a big block should have had . Even the handling of the truck was off due to the weight of the big lock enging sitting in small block springs and suspension ! In 1988 Gm changed the included angle in the steering geometry which made the handling of the truck way more responsive than that of a 1987 .

She went through her 20's and 30's and turned down several marriage proposals. By 40 the proposals stopped. She chose to work and had some money from her parents, so she did all right, but wanted kids. This truck reminds me of old lady Chrutchfield. She waited and waited, until one day, it was too late.

      These were undesirable slow powerless gas hog emissions slugs when new... a bad choice to collect/save... prolly lost value... since not maintained... still a pig despite all the lipstick that comes with it... Although, if mechanically handy, it can be vastly improved for a few hundred dollars in parts... must have changed the old gas in it, would have turned to injectors clogging wax by now...

      Why would you change brand new oil? It doesn't go bad, there's no way for it to get contaminated, and if thousands of years being underground didn't hurt it, I'm gonna have to say it's pretty much gonna last thirty years in a crankcase that's never been circulated.

      @@dimetrekorsikov5643 Brand new oil from 1990 is not new anymore. Remember the 3 months or 3,000 miles rule? Thats way over 3 months. Nowadays, oil lasts longer and can go longer than 3 months. Fluids in vehicles have to be circulated regularly, vehicles are not made to just sit.

      It never ceases to amaze me why people who dont collect cars & motorcycles and store a collection feel as if they know whats proper and whats not,as long as the truck was stored in a climate controlled garage where humidity was kept at 30% with no drastic cold temperature changes then the 30 year oil will not have any condensation in the oil as evidenced by simply removing the dip stick & examining the oil on a rag,if any condensation entered the motor over a 3 decade storage then the oil would look like chocolate milk,a good clean 30 year old oil will have the same lubrication values as a fresh oil change for quick starts to keep moving parts lubricated,i know these facts from collecting vintage Harley Davidson Motorcycles ,when my dad passed away he left me his " A Title " collection comsisting of his 1938 EL Knucklehead,his 1955 FL Panhead and his final bike the year he passed with his 1970 FLH Shovelhead ,ive since asded an Ironhead Sportster ,a 1978 FX Low Rider Shovelhead ,a 1979 Sturgis Shovelhead ,a 1991 Evolution Springer ,a 1993 " Terminator Evolution Fatboy ,a 1999 Buell Lightning race bike,a 2003 Anniversary Twin Cam Screaming Eagle factory 103 ,a 2015 Twin Cam Fatboy 110 stroker,all of which have the same oil from the day they were parked,gasoline antifreeze and brake fluids need to be purged to prep for long term storage but never motor oil that shows zero evidence of condensate.

      @@anonymous-xv9xt do you actually have even a tiny clue as to what you're talking about?? Oil does not degrade over time unless it's exposed to extreme heat and by extreme i mean several hundred degrees over an extended period of time. A crankcase that has never been run is a sealed environment and oil does not change it's molecular structure when it's stored in a sealed, controlled environment. We aren't talking about whether the rings may have rust, we're not talking about the condition of the hoses and belts or the fluids that need to be circulated. Which in fact they don't. The comment was that the oil was brand new except for the 5 miles or however many minutes the engine had run. The reason that fluids need to be circulated in a stored vehicle is so that the seals the gears, the rings, the innumerable other parts that are designed to operate in conjunction with those fluids tend to dry out and shrink over time once they've been exposed to whatever fluid or chemical they're designed to seal or transport or be lubricated by. Piston rings commonly rust the cylinder bore after many years of storage simply because minor condensation occurs inside of any air space that is not completely air tight. So it's a good idea to pull the plugs and squirt a little marvel mystery oil or just regular motor oil into the piston bore a few days before trying to spin the motor so you don't damage a ring or gaul the cylinder wall. Also hydraulic lifters will compress over time on the valves that under tension from the cam lobes. But all that aside... oil doesn't FUCKING get old you idiot. It comes from the ground, under the ground, exposed to shitty conditions and dirty ass water and everything in between and it's been there thousands of years and it's still FUCKING oil. Then they pump it out of the ground, heat it, refine it, separate it and the different petroleum products are then further processed until they end up on a shelf in a container and then you buy it and put it into another container, in this instance, a crankcase, and it gets stored for another 30 years. In that thirty years ..... that oil is still the exact same oil. No less viable, no less trustworthy, no less cellular composition, it's the exact same oil. The three months three thousand miles is a general number based on all driving conditions factored in and covered under one ridiculously subjective time of wear window. If you're driving the Baja 500 then you might wanna change that oil after the first day, or if you're driving in really deep water and mud and your dipstick is under water or mud then you might want to check the oil for contamination or if you're driving once a month to the market that five miles round trip you might change your oil every couple of years but bottom line is that oil doesn't stop being oil regardless of time spent sitting inside of an engine. It's what happens to oil while it's inside of a engine that determines it's viability to perform. Heat kills oil because at extremes some components of the oil are actually consumed or combust, water and dirt contaminate oil , and lots of things can mess up the safe use of oil as a lubricant. Time is not one of those things. You've never built a motor, you probably have never changed your own oil, you have never taken oil or any industrial or automotive fluids to a lab and had it tested and analyzed, and my guess is you're pretty much a put gas in it and drive until it breaks kinda guy and then you call a real mechanic and pay him to fix your shit.

      @@michaelledford4751 Im not disagreeing with you, but I have an honest question (I work in the petroleum industry). If any water (condensation) got into the crankcase, since it's heavier than oil, wouldn't it settle at the bottom of the pan, where the dipstick doesn't reach? And it wouldn't become "chocolate milk" until after the engine was started and the water and oil was thoroughly circulated and mixed. My point being, although the oil should last indefinitely - there is no combustion happening to contaminate the oil, and no heat cycles, and even if some condensation got into the internals, it wouldn't really affect the oil (although could rust some surfaces), BUT I cant really see how checking the dipstick would show any condensation, unless someone poured a quart of water into the engine, haha.
