I'd be right there with you. I should probably clarify. I too would be inseparable with it mine, take it to dinner, out on adventures and cuddle with it, in my own bed, alone. 👍
I concur. In a similar case, I picked up the Cold Steel Master Hunter in 3V recently. A great knife design now offered in a great steel. Also, the Cold Steel Pendleton LIte Hunter in German 4116 Stainless is a great budget version of the Pendleton Hunter. On another note, as a new subscriber and fellow knife-nut/knife & sheath-moder (just made that up)/hand-sharpening enthusiast, I deeply appreciate your honest, unbiased, non-fanboy content. Thank you.
Glad you concur doctor. We need the stabilize this patient and get him an Izula with 3V. Thanks for the kind words and for subscribing. I really appreciate it.
Yep. I know. Perhaps when I said "I want this exact knife in a nice super steel" I was not crystal effing clear. I want that knife, the Izula in a super steel. Not another model, the Izula. I too am looking forward to the Pacaya. Should be interesting.
I'd LOVE an Esee 3 in a better steel! I've really been wanting to try something in Cru-Wear, Magnacut, or K390. I do have a clone made in D2 which is awesome but the fit and finish isn't Esee standards. Great video!
Mr. Tom!!!! I carry a Pendleton mini in 3v as a neck knife. Had to rehandle the knife for my rather large mits, but otherwise, it's an awesome unit. Keep up the good work,Sir.
I can’t imagine a limited run in a high-end steel being a bad idea. The sales figures would immediately tell their executives if it’s truly what the market is looking for. It doesn’t happen very often, but when you do come up with a good idea, it’s usually pretty stellar…
Because they still market to the sUrViVaL crowd. They have dreams of hacking their way out of a crashed airplane and building a shelter with their ESEE 6
@@knifetimestory As long as you do not advocate skelotizing knife blades I support most of your ideas. But, this one is over the top good. I hope Esee is listening.
@knifetimestory Or how about a harder HRC!?! The softness of ESEE is the reason I stick with the harder Becker BK series. Both are 1095, and both have similar size models. Ive tried a few ESEEs including the Izula and Izula II, but prefer the Becker Necker. Maybe try the harder Beckers before jumping to a different steel?!?
You are right. That would be a quick and easy fix. They could mark them differently so you know you had a hard one and maybe it would not have the same warranty, but those of us who buy the hard one will be smart enough to not pry with it.
@@knifetimestory Im not talking a huge change in HRC, maybe 4-5 is all, but in edge retention, Ive seen a huge difference. And prying is for crowbars! LOL! (BK-2)

I would like them to go the other way. I want to see more of the knife companies making their really cool designs in very affordable budget steels. How cool would it be to be able to buy an Esee for $40 with 420 or 9crv. I don't mind sharpening
That is nuts. Randall Made Knives sells $500+ knives all day long. If you can afford it, buy one. If not...just look at the pretty pictures. Don't expect them to make a budget friendly version and dumb down their product just so Walmart shoppers can buy one.
@knifetimestory well it's just a wish. I can't afford to pay more than $60 dollars or more for a knife. But I like and enjoy knives as well as use them everyday. There are a lot of knife designs I'll never get to own because the steel is to high end. But my dad and grandfather taught me how to sharpen knives. So if the cool design came in a cheaper to produce metal that puts it in my price range then great. The price difference means I would have to use my sharpening skills more often but get more great designs in my hands. Nothing nuts about that.
I love esse knives ,but the softness of their steel is insane. I guess it is just 1095. I feather one stick ,and I have to sharpen it again. I know my carbon and stainless mora knives go dull ,but I can still cut the hell out of wood because of the edge geometry (scandi grind). Maybe esse knives are just for cutting Marshmallows.
Tom, you're a real $#!- disturber, arent you? Hahaha! I love ESSE, and concur, BUT their handles are usually on the smallish side - except for their 6 plus knives - so i likely won't be buying another ESEE
Yes, I am Jeff. But, I can't help it. I've been buying them since inception and now that I've strayed away from my Izula, I feel guilty.
