"Sparkle" is from the 1982 album "For You". Yamashita is best known for his 1983 song "Christmas Eve", which is sort of the Japanese equivalent of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" or Wham's "Last Christmas". Yamashita has been a mainstay of Japan's soft-rock scene for nearly five decades. I saw him at Budokan in 2010 at Warner Music Japan's 40th anniversary show, and he performed "Sparkle".

The drummer of this song is Jun Aoyama,who is one of the most famous drummers in JAPAN.
He is BABYMETAL ‘s backband, Kami Band drummer, Hideki Aoyama’s father.

By the way, Jun Aoyama, who played drums in Tatsuro Yamashita's backing band, is the father of Hideki Aoyama, who was a drummer in BABYMETAL's KAMI band.
He has already passed away, but both father and son are professional drummers.

Yesterday, I went to his concert for the first time in a while. The first song was Sparkle. I was moved from the moment the intro started.

If you want more of a backbeat from Tatsuro Yamashita, maybe try "Silent Screamer". It's got a good steady beat, only a little faster tempo than "Sparkle", but definitely more rock-funk style. Yamashita's music doesn't get too fast too often, but "Bomber" and "Hot Shot" are probably his most screaming songs.
