    Perfect info. I could not make any sense out of the manual that came with my flash. I have the similar one except with the 2 heads. Regards.

    Do you know if this setup will make a clear closeup picture of the iris of the eye? It will make my day. thanks!

    Thank you for the review. Not necessary for me to read the manual as you did a great job of explaining the functions. As you said it costs 1/5 of the Canon version so I can live with the feature set. I'm sure there are work arounds for it's limitations.

    I haven't tried this yet but I'm guessing that you'll be able to overcome the absence of the master/slave function by mounting the YN622C transceiver or YN622C-TX controller onto your camera and then mount the YN14ex onto the transceiver's shoe; you'll need a sync cord to do this if using the controller as there isn't a shoe mount on this. However, you'll have better control with the YN622C-TX. As I say, this is pure guesswork on my part as I haven't tried it in practice. It would be interesting to try this and know if it works....

      I suppose that would work but even with the sync cord, where do you keep the transceiver/controller when there's only one hot shoe...I guess I'm more disappointed with the lack of high speed sync than the lack of a master...I can still use it for many applications that do not require high shutter speeds

    Thanks. is the 1/64 power or duration in seconds? What functions are available under the lamp button?

    Good Review. However, it would be more helpful if you have some example photos to demonstrate different flash setting

      I'm sorry to hear that you had a problem. I am not sure it can be fixed. I certainly do not know how.

    Any idea how you can put this ring flash as a continuous light?

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has a switch to turn it on. The light is fairly low, only good for assisting focus, not as a lighting source.

    Great review, is it worthy to pay for the canon ring flash or this one will do the job, Given I need it for dental photography ?

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For dental photography, it's unlikely you will need the flash sync speed to go beyond 1/200 or 1/250 so this ring flash will do just fine, imho.

      Hien Tongho thankyou so much for ur fast reply, but have u tried the Yongnuo YN-24EX TTL as I'm confused between the one in the preview and the one I just mentioned, thanks in advance 😊

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The YN-24EX mirrors the Canon MT-24EX. It's a different unit with different design. The major difference is that this unit can be wirelessly controlled where the YN-14 cannot.

      Hien Tongho but do both are equal in macro photography lighting ? As I feel the twin will give me more flexibility

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think so too. You can aim the lights better with the YN-24. BTW, by dental photography do you mean photographing people's mouths or dentures and crowns, etc.? For the latter I don't think you even need the ring flash.

    Thanks for your video, may I ask will it work with my canon rebel t7?

      While I don't have the T7 to verify, I don't see why it would not work.

      Hi, I think it will work just fine...even though I can't test it because I do not have a 3000d.

      @@TonghoPhotography thank you so much for the reply.The centre pin on the hot shoe is missing,so I asked .

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thomashwin While I am not 100% sure, I think it will work because the Yongnuo is a carbon copy of the Canon flash so without the center pin, it would be no problem. Problem should be for the generic flashes that rely on the center pin for going off.

    Hi, than for video.
    Many times thr flash is too strong and i need to bring down the power ...
    i did used use both ettl and manual. But still its wayyy to strong for macro shots !

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a matter of settings. When using ETTL, you can dial in less flash using flash exposure compensation. For manual, set the power to 1/128 and on camera, increase Av value and decrease ISO value until you get the correct exposure. Of course you can use a combination of flash compensation and Av/ISO settings.

    • @muckach9872
      @muckach9872 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hien Tongho thanks for reply. The Flash only goes upto 1/64 in M ! But I figured out to shoot in M and decrease the F& increase S.

    • @TonghoPhotography
      @TonghoPhotography  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      F&S I assume is fstop and shutter? For flash, I don't think shutter speed will make any difference. Either fstop or ISO are the two factors.
