Breaks my heart to see how my people are misled and taken advantage of like this? "We are not money hungry people, we are service hungry people" well said. We will work to survive. Not for money that has no value, and money that cannot sustain us like our hard work could in the past. Why is the PNG government making its people suffer like this and exclude them in important decision making processes? Custodians to land and resources in this country are treated like they do not even belong on the land, their land.
You guys made a huge error the moment you started to move away from your original way of living. You guys should have never changed things. Your land was so beautiful and rich with nature. Now it will be destroyed. Most places are polluted and you guys had a chance to stay clean and have something that many dont. Sadly you guys sold out
my dad said no to working on this project. he said it was when the locals were throwing spears up at his helicopter while surveying the site to build on that convinced him. he said that it doesn't matter to the locals if the rest of the world needs natural gas. our need for stuff does not trump the will of one local to keep his village the same. He is right, the locals are right. it doesn't matter how expensive a suit you wear the shit is evil.
But the same project is getting the Papua New Guinea Government billions in revenue with which they can improve the whole country.Tell me something, does the wants of 500 villages outweigh the needs of over 8 million people? You argue that its their land, they have every right to choose how they want to lead their lives. But remember, the government is the ultimate owner of all lands and if there is the possibility that this project can vastly improve the whole country in various areas, why should they not support and greenlight it?Imagine the number of people who can get employment from this.
@Aaron Dcruz If the money goes to benefit the needs of the nation i.e 8 million people, then it's money well spent. Even if a small part of it goes into corruption. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
@Aaron Dcruz Look, I am not saying the locals don't deserve better because they do. But threatening to sabotage the pipeline is basically killing the golden goose and nobody is going to benefit from that.
I had tears in my eyes watching this. I see how hungry for wealth the most powerful have become with little or no sympathy for humanity. Our government is responsible for every environmental, cultural, and ecological destructions that's happening constantly, our people on the other hand must not dream of becoming overnight millionaires, this will never happen before demise. Love your natural environment, it's your mother, it was the mother of your ancestors. We have one of the best climates and fertile soils on Earth. Our government must effectively support agriculture, tourism and education. Our tiny nation can do better with these.
hopeful this documentary must be watched by all Papua New Guineans . our leaders must know about whats gonna happen to all our resources . are we really gonna benefit .
You guys should have just stayed away from money from the beginning and stayed with the old ways of doing things. Business people are only there for themselves. They dont operate like your culture, they dont want to help you.
Research west papua and the usa company doing this there also! Free West Papua!!Get the word out!...on another hand Bougainville was the first of the islands taken over by greedy outside interests in minerals but Bougainvillians (Bougainville revolution) fought back and won their freedom as well as shut down the mine..
Papua new guinea you should have stayed away from money, trust me. You are better off with your old ways of living. Thats coming from an American, money is evil and changes people. Stay away!!!!
Yrrab nesjen Arabs today are white, but they use to be black. But they were conquered. So now those blacks are in the middle east getting discriminated by their conquerors who now have become the "white arabs" we know today.
Let us make this video go viral and attract other international Human and Environment Rights on board, ask the Kokopo agreements to be reviewed, and held Exon Mobile for OFFICIAL BRIBERY and Scandal to defraud the State of Papua New Guinea. One simple example is there are no proper CLAN VETTING, Clan Vetting is the primary state of the Project Scopes. PNG should walk into De Dollar and join hands with China, Rusia, India, Brazil and Saudi Arabia as US has made us their Financial Slave.. Let us create reserve accounts for this mentioned countries in our Central and Commercial Banks and directly trade using our own currencies rather than involving Third Party Currencies like US Dollar or Petro Dollar. WE CAN NOT BECAME A FINANCIAL SLAVE FOR OTHER COUNTRIES WHILE WE ARE SITTING ON A MOUNTAIN OF GOLD AND SEA OF OIL..
I can't stop sobbing right now...This is not fair!!..I will do whatever I can to change the future of my Country..Thanks #TheNation for making this video.
This matter has created a problem especially for the landowners. The government must learn from their mistakes and should handle the future mining agreements fairly and honestly so that the rightful landowners must be happy. But regarding LNG and ExxonMobil this problem must be solved first before anything happens.
Landslides are very common in PNG - in my recent travels 4 sections of the Highlands highway were missing due to heavy rain fall so the statement made by Exxon is quite true, but i'm sure little investigation was done. The most damaging part was the focus on the road, rather than the people killed by the landslide by the company and the fact they should be providing for the local province and traditional land owners.
People who only concerned about making money quickly......intend to forget about protecting humans surrounding their operations...This is how money turns people evil...
ExxonMobil doing all that for Guyana . Is only time for them to do the same . To guyanese Free education yes Free entertainment yes Work no And the list goes on.

Like everywhere else on Earth , the simple way of life is always the Best . Now even these good People who were entirely isolated from modern civilization , are permanently traumitized by , "progress ". The temptation of bridges & better paths , an easier way of Life , some new threads to hide their nakedness from a watching world , has caused deep sorrow of a mistake they said yes too . Build them places where they can see the whole world so they can make intelligent well informed decisions , and Respect their Rights to leave their Land Sacred ~ let the majority of them themselves have the final say in the whole matter . Win - Win . Their Children should also have a voice , since it is their future which is at stake here . PNG (PAPUA NEW GUINEA ) .
I live right next door to the Exxon Mobile plant in Baytown Texas. It's the largest chemical plant in the world. They do a lot for our community and the economy of our community. It's sad what happen in PNG but as the saying goes...Shit Happens!
It is sad to see our people suffer. We have allowed multi national company coming into our nation exploit our resources leaving us with little or no benefits at all. We have few elites in this country thriving on this deals and most of our people suffer. I feel sorry for my country man. We few elites should be agent of change and drive this nation. Not making wealth for ourselves and let others suffer..
Yeah, it sucks so much that one of the world's best managed oil and gas companies with awe inspiring technological prowess and disciplined operations management made $45 B in profit in 2012 and you cannot have any share of it, right?

Because White and Black Liberals prevent it.
Mainly white countries are developed with strong laws and economies. Developing countries are easy to corrupt and control.

Dry your eyes crybaby. If you can't develop yourself out of the stone age, someone else will.
Nigel 900 murderous colonist.
Why do they have to come out of the stone age?

Wow....and this year PNG's biggest earthquake yet, causing massive landslips, burying unconfirmed numbers of people alive. Isolated incidents?????

Curse on the leaders who compromised the People's Blessing
It's a shame on the what this policeman has said..
Repeating, copy, paste!! We see it on a weekly basis now. Land grabs etc.
This type of tyranny only leads to one outcome?! W..
I love the opening.. Yep, lets give it to the banks instead.. That made it better..
It's really said for our country
Money always wins. People are only pawns in this rich man game.
