  • What does the Bible say about meditating on scriptures? We look at the biblical definition of meditation and how to meditate on the scriptures. Based on Psalm 1. I also share a method of meditation I was taught which changed the way I read the Bible. And encourage you guys to try this method of meditating on the Bible. I'm going to be doing it every day for a week and letting you know how it goes in the next video. Post the things you're meditating on in the comments too!

Psalm 1:3 ~ "He is like a tree planted by streams of water."
A tree is sturdy, they stand firm during storms.
Streams of water are a life support. Jesus is the Living Water. A stream of Life.
Be firm in your stance, don't break when the storms come. Remain close to your stream of Living Water (Jesus) and you will be strong and able to withstand.

Actually, the Spirit is the Living Water not The Son (Jn 7:35-36) and it means that the Spirit is life because only a living thing can bear fruit.
It's the same theme in Jn 15.
Only he that abides in Christ (The Vine) will bear fruit (of the Spirit) to glorify the Father (Rom 7:4)

I think some of us will get confused with the word "meditation", as you also pointed out. It really is stuck in peoples heads as something that like buddhists do. But after listening to your song where it says "day and night I will meditate on your word" I read the passage and and realized what meditation in a biblical sense really ment. In german bibles there is this word for this called "nachsinnen". It really describes this act because it is translated like 'deeply thinking over and over again about something', which you said aswell. So in my german bibles there isn't "meditieren" (meditate) as a word, but rather "nachsinnen", which I find interesting. So thank you for doing this video! I think it will help many people, myself included, while reading the scripture!

      - The Gene that cause all kinds of disseases will downregulate and will move the body back into balance:
Anticancer, Anti Aging, Anti Heart Dissease, Anti Stroke, the growth of new neurons and novel experiences, downregulate stress, activates stem cells to go to damaged tissues and repair them, activate the microtubules which are the sceletal structure of the cell and vibrate in emit & coherent light and information. When cells are disseased or out of balance those different harmonics are causing the cells to emit different frequencies and the frequencies cant carry the Information and thats what causes the cells to break down. We know that the gene in the microtubules gets signaled that they are resonating a greater frequency. So meditation is basically energy changing matter which is a quantum phenomenon
      - In only 4 days for 10 Minutes meditation the imunesystem can be strenghten by 50%. The common 8 genes that were upregulated, 2 genes to suppress cancer cells and tumor growth, 2 genes for Neurogenesis, the growth of new neurons in response to novel experiences and learning, the genes signalling stem cells to go to damaged areas to repair them and the gene for oxidative stress was upregulated
      - Meditation bildet graue Gehirnsubstanz was verlangsamte Gehirnalterung zu Folge hat

I have to agree that both reading a complete passage like a book and meditating on a specific verse / a few verses is really important. I was just reading the book of Jeremiah and it gave me a great overview over his life, how God worked through him and about the history of his time. but then one passage jumped out at me although I didn't fully understand it at first, so I started thinking about it and reading it over and over again and asking God what this was supposed to show me. And slowly, the meaning of the passage for my personal life seemed to unfold in my head and it's really helped me ever since.
thanks for sharing your opinion on the topic! I might go ahead and try out that method you presented.

That's awesome mate! Yeah I love reading through too. I did the Bible in a year once which gave a great overview and I noticed how different parts of the Bible linked together that I hadn't seen before. But I also get loads of things just from reading one verse sometimes. Both ways are great!

I try and spend time meditating in the mornings and read through a reading plan that takes two years to get through the Bible in the evening. I've found that is a nice balance to slowing down but still being able to get through the entire story of the Bible for a great overview.

I was reading a book named Divine Direction. First passage caught me, "You are one decision away from changing your life forever" and from that I made a decision to read and meditate His word on a daily basis. Few months, I've listened to rivers and robots and wooo man it really helps me while reading and meditating the Word of God. Until the Lord brought me to this channel and I almost watched every vids you made. This is one of the plot twist of my 2019. Watching and listening to your music and vlogs really helps. Keep it up brothers in Christ! Thank you so much for being an inspiration to this generation 😍

Brilliant! 🌞🌞🌞 I just did this for the first time ever and I think I'm hooked! We're almost instantly intimate with God because you're dialoguing instead of just praying for things we want. Also, DEFINITIONS ARE AWESOME! So many words are so common to us we dont even grasp what all they mean but looking up the definition to words like "belong" or even "through" can bring you a couple layers deeper into, for me, how HUGE God is to have come up with this all as a Creator and how much it really cost him to get back what has really been his: Us.
I meditated on Romans 7:1-6 but only got to v. 4 so I'll have to Part 2 it tomorrow morning or maybe tonight! Thanks for SHARING!! This was dope!!!😆😆😆😆

This is fabulous encouragement for me right now! I'm focused in on the topic of prayer, specifically intercession, and asking God about starting an intercessor ministry at my church. I was meditating on Romans 8 to start with. :) I think the key difference is something you briefly touched on. Biblical meditation has a FOCUS, something you are placing on purpose into your head. Other meditation tends to push being empty inside, which invites other outside influences to come in and fill that space. And I would say that's the danger. Well explained, thanKS for the video!

Great video! Really enjoyed the practical 3 part method - so helpful - I will be using that! When I meditate, I tend to just write a verse or two over and over again (usually creatively, sometimes just simply) so that I learn it and then as I go over the words, usually ask God what it means and pray about it! Not only at the time has it been beneficial, I have found that even weeks/months after, God will remind me of the verse in a relevant situation e.g. When I'm concerned about what's next, I remember verses like 'For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future' etc. which will then help me to focus on Him and His truth for me in that situation.
Recently, I've been meditating on Matt 7:13-14 and asking God how and what it means to take the narrow gate. 'Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.' I feel like there's so much to these verses and how it looks practically!! Being in the world but not of the world, committing to serve the Lord wholeheartedly, standing firm in battles and trials, being led by the Holy Spirit, godliness, daily sacrifice etc. It also made me think of the verses in Luke 14 about counting the cost and also in Heb 12 about running the race! I'm still learning and wonder if I've only just scratched the surface 😆
This video has also encouraged me to meditate more regularly and reminded me of the benefits, thank you! I'm planning on setting some separate time to meditate each day this week and am excited and expectant that God will highlight new things in the verses, change my heart, deepen my faith & love for Jesus! I'm going to pick a verse and start meditating now!!
Who else is going to join in?!

Love this, thank you! I definitely need the side-bar to-do-list, that is going to help my busy, distracted head tremendously! Totally going to start using this, but first I need to go out and buy a notebook because I currently have none, hehe!
Recently, I have been meditating on 1 Samuel Chapter 1 and finding there is so much to unpack in it, but specifically noted how Hannah prayed to God in her "deep anguish" and I have been really looking at the events and response from God surrounding that. Then in a devo Psalm 13 was brought up and it pairs beautifully perfect with this. Speaking how we can vent to God about the big or the little stuff, and cry to Him about our concerns and ask Him "who, why, when, where," without it making us less spiritual or "untrusting," but, on the contrary, bringing those questions to Him BECAUSE we trust He has the answer, or He has the blessing waiting for when we call upon Him and ask Him for it. "Complaining" to God, with a heart of knowing God is all-sufficient and dependable is a sign of a strong trust in God to come through, either with comfort, a solution, a blessing, or what have you. But God loves every bit of us including our pain and anxieties and He wants us to give Him that part of us too. And what is on the other side of vulnerably offering our worst up to God, instead of trying to figure it out for ourselves, will be a blessing regardless of the form in which that blessing comes, but more often than not, that means receiving peace in place of lament, at a minimum.
Hannah started off so depressed from her enemy provoking her, she could not even bare to eat, she could only weep. She cried to God to "remember" her, and to give her a son, and her heart was in the right place as she only wished to bless God with her son in return, and God came through, gave her that son, and she returned her son back to God. She trusted Him with something so deeply personal and painful. In that time and in a culture where a woman unable to bare a child was a disgrace and often forsaken. Though Hannah's husband did not see her that way and even gave her double portions because he loved her so much and wanted her to know that he would never love her any less due to her barreness, Hannah still was attacked by "her rival" (which, to make more relatable, I see as anxious thoughts and lies being placed in her head, either by a person or a spiritual attack, or both), who caused her to be miserable and feel forgotten by God, and she did not hold back admitting this to God, (v. 10-11) she "poured out her soul" (v. 15) to God in an utterly transparent way and in v. 19-20, God "rememerbed" Hannah and gave her a son. Like in Psalm 13, God was good to Hannah in His unfailing love and she praised Him by giving God her most prized possession.
Hope you enjoyed that ESSAY. Whoops.

This is great! Another way I also meditate is on what God creates and supplies. For example I may be engaging in an art form of sorts like clay sculpting and I love to understand natural resources and how they can be used to create things. And I stop and think about how God talks about how he creates seed for every plant and how he molded his creation form the earths soil.
And so a daily part of my meditation is in what God puts into my hands and what he created my hands to do.
Among many things to think about going back to the clay example. God will show you how to relate circumstances or lessons to what you are currently engaging in. Clay is made from the earth and water and goes through a process to create a moldable and reusable resource. As it dries up it hardens and can sometimes crumble apart. But when you add water to it, it becomes moldable again by the creator. It can also be forged through fire and so on.
Similarly God showed me that this can be applied to other people who are influenced by worldly or sinful things. Our creator graciously replenishes us with water so that he may shape us to be what he created us to be. And he supplies us with the courage and strength to walk through the fires of life. But surely if you deny his steadfast hand you will become hardened by sin and crumble. Only until you accept the flowing waters of life into your life will you again be renewed. God molds us in his image and we should rejoice for all his ways are perfection!
There are many things God shows us in everyday life that can be reference from the Bible and I think that it is truly amazing! 🙏🤍🕊
I always love your music and videos Jonathan! Keep shining!

One thing I would like to add, while in eastern theology one's goal is to achieve an empty mind, and as a Christian, this is not what we are trying to do, but to be filled with the things of God. That being said, I have found great importance in emptying my mind (of carnal thoughts, nagging tasks, things contradictory to the Lord etc..), so I might have my mind consumed with the things of the Lord. To cast of the things of the outer man, and put on the inner man which is created after Him that created him, (Ephesians 4:22-24). How can we mediate on the Lord if our mind is already occupied, right? Just something I have found helpful in my personal walk. Cheers in Christ!

Really enjoy your blog, thank you R&R! Did you know the interpretation of the word "meditation" in Hebrew means "to mutter" or "groan" ? So it literally means while you spend time reading and reflecting in the Word, as you say in your blog, it's also important to say the words out loud!
