I've never heard the i and t explanation like that, my face said -😮 and my mind went -🤯 that explanation makes so much sense. I've been a fan for well over 10 years and you just blew my mind sir.
yes, check out 'Holding On To You-live at Fox Theatre' for an amazing live performance. a lot of their songs have mental health or religious themes, i think maybe he's saying he's trying to hold onto his belief in God. I like the fact that he portrays mental health as a battle, he doesn't just tell fans to 'think positive' or that 'if you have faith nothing bad will happen to you' but he encourages them to fight against it using whatever beliefs or meaning help you and actively pursue those things and think about what you believe and not to blindly accept what other people or even your own brain tells you.
They have a great live performance of this song at Fox Theater if you want to see them live - it's professionally produced so it's not like a fan video or anything they also just released a new single yesterday - Overcompensate
All there songs are open to interpretation… but they are Christians and many of their songs are like prayers (like the Psalms) which are directed to God. So the way I interpret the YOU in this song, I identify it with holding onto God while going through various struggles
@@BTPGumzTV thats awesome, so you will probably really be able to relate to his lyrics. they are usually about mental health or god but he writes them so they can be relatable even of you don't believe.
Knowing the lore makes this song hit so much harder because I feel like this is him saying “do I continue letting vailism happen or do I stand up to the bishops?”
Love the reaction and your perspective! I think this song could also be about his song writing process. Writing music is how he heals and explores those deep dark questions, but writing is also one of his biggest insecurities, so its a constant back and forth. Its a messy and heavy process where he must battle his demons and insecurities, but with enough time and dedication his faith in himself and his music is (briefly) restored. “And now that i write and think about it and the story unfolds, you should take my life, you should take my soul” Their music always has many layers its one of my favorite things about them! I hope you continue with their music and get into all the lore, they have created a beautiful story personifying what it feels like to struggle with mental health.
His name is Tyler Joseph just remember he has two first names lol. I have watched a lot of reactions to this song and I know this song very well but you, sir have gotten me to think of it in a different way not entirely, but I realize there were some lyrics I was skipping over, I guess thinking they didn’t have a meaning? That’s so dumb. Of course they have a meaning. So far it was the I undotted and T uncrossed. That was a very brilliant observation.
This is one of their most underrated songs imo, also one of my favorites.. the live version to this at 'the fox theater' goes crazy too 🔥
One of my favorites as well. ✌🏻

Glad you see it
anyone else think the Wombats when you hear the chorus. by far T.O.P best song
He's never drank or did drugs. But they grew up Christian and Tylers trying to understand his religious beliefs as an adult. basically lol
Oh nice.. I grew up that way too.. but ik something was/ or bothering him they way he sings in this one.. masterpiece
One of my favourites and love the video too. It is beautiful, glad you enjoyed it. (I think what he's holding on to is God.)
