      @@blackche1580I dont think that should totally count. I mean.... Its a laser beam, soo yeah. Now when the players know the names for the laser cannon/laser scraper strings, or somehow know the name for every throw King has, I'd say its still pretty impressive. Especially since they never announce their moves like Street Fighter.

    Tenkaichi 1 didn't age as well but playing Tenkaichi 1 for the first time as a child / early teen was mindblowing.
    I remember going to gamestop and seeing a playable demo. I grabbed the controller and within minutes of playing it I immediately thought it was one of the most fun games I had ever played and is actually what made me become a fan of DBZ.

      Budokai 2 was my first Dragon Ball game so I didn't like Tenkaichi, it didn't feel as complete with less characters and no transformations. Fortunately my parents got Tenkaichi 1 and 2 because they were cheap, Tenkaichi 2 must've been crazy when it was new

      @@xxghastlytonerxx even Tenkaichi one was crazy when it was new. My first game was Budokai 1 and I played all 3 of those and then Tenkaichi came out with the 3d environments. It was like being in the anime. We all have different tastes. Tenkaichi 2 was an upgrade of course since it's a sequel but tenkaichi 1 was better than all the budokai's imo.. bt3 I'm not even going to compare because it just improved on what bt2 was

    Tenkaichi 1 was a revolutionary anime game, the very first proper arena fighter with movement freedom and large roster, tho it didnt age well it still managed to set the foundations for the two other sequels that got better from one to another chronologically so ihave high respect and appreciation for the 1st game.
    From the looks of it, Sparking Zero is looking promising and a proper follow up to the legacy of the BT trilogy but ireally hope oneday BNE releases a BT HD Trilogy like the Budokai collection they did on 2012, iwanna play BT2 and 3 on my ps5 while also having Sparking Zero coexisting on my console

    • @Chiefland7
      @Chiefland7 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You will never get that. I don't know how old you are but way back in 2012 when I was a senior in high school the producers were asked why they never made an hd collection for Tenkaichi like they did with the Budokai series and they said it's because they no longer have the original files from the old games and the company was merging with what we nee now to be chunsoft.. that's why everything had to be done from scratch in order for us to get another Tenkaichi.. thankfully we at least get sparking zero. I can't wait

    Also add that in Tenkaichi 2 you can block in all directions, in bt3 they removed that and u can only block up down and neutral, that was 1 of the things I missed in bt3, I can understand the reasons but it was cool to block to the sides in bt2 still

      @@killshot1994 idk really, I think it's because you have many other options in bt3 to evade the side smashes and they remove side block to give more chance to break guards, in bt2 you didn't had sonic sway or the Z-counter, you can also just press X to step forward and dodge the side smash, or simply time O to vanish, maybe was bc of that.

    I actually knew most of the combo routes that was covered in the livestream from playing sooo much of BT3 back in the day, mainly from practicing it all from the combo menus, so it was great to learn about the tech that's not directly mentioned in the game that the community figured out that I never saw!
    My only concern with getting back into Sparking Zero is that, ... um ... well, I actually played BT2 & BT3 on the Wii w/ motion controls (Wii-mote and Nunchuck, not a GameCube or standard controller). Sooo, I hope my game knowledge and muscle memory will still work on a standard controller, lol.

      The game is similar but still kind of different in alot of ways too so it's not even really going to matter. You're still going to have to learn the new game. I play tenkaichi 3 till this day and I'm still going to have to experiment and learn the new combat system in sparking zero

    Bro in Sparking Zero I'm gonna say "eat this HEAVY FINISH" and it'll do 2x the damage
    Anyway, 2 useless but fun BT2 facts
    1 when shooting a chargeable B2 beam you can influence the direction it will fire by holding any of the 8 directions and the beam will fire that direction (only really useful for a hard read)
    2 during a beam clash you can spend any spare meter you have to get a massive boost during the clash, but once your meter hits 0 you're unable to defend youself both during the clash and after (assuming your ki hits 0 during the boost)
    Fun fact about number 2, this feature is being brought back to Sparking Zero as seen on Seereax's video

    This is something in the old Tenkaichi games that I really love, how impactful your opponent reacts to your combos, how you can feel the weight from both characters while performing them, and I see very few ppl saying this, but that is precisely what I think is lacking in Sparking Zero gameplay up to what we could see. Sometimes it feels like they're punching cotton bags or smthing, it might also be due to the fact that I haven't played it yet so that feeling could change later.

    It may not be the competitive fighting game that FighterZ is, but the movement in this series is exactly what I think modern arena fighters are sorely missing and can learn a lot from (even if lore reasons may prevent the exact mechanics). It gives a unique flair to the game and provides actual worth to have 3 axes of movement.
    Speaking of which, Budokai is definitely not a 2D game, Glob 😅. It's still a 3D game, with 3 dimensions of movement. It's even set up like Tekken (not in the actual game mechanics, but the character positioning and basic movement). Butoden or FighterZ counts as 2D games as they only have 2 dimensions of movement.

    Really interesting video, love tenkaichi 2, it brings back so much memories. I’ve noted that some tech (10:15 for exemple) are present in Jump Force, probably because it is Spike Chunsoft and some developpers are common between those games. All the vanish tech, up tilt, down tilt thing, infinite combo cancel are also present.

    I would also recommend the Tenkaichi 4 mod if you haven't played the latest version yet, Team BT4 went all in with various mechanics brought back from 2 as well as a slew of new combo follow ups and transformation system(costing ki instead of blast stocks) and the aerial clash(story mode only in BT3) being added in and manual taunts that decrease ki, as well as rush avoidance bonuses(+1 blast stock) and z-counter bonuses(full bar of ki upon successful z-counter). Feels completely different from original BT3 guaranteed, methinks it very well might be just as enjoyable as Sparking Zero and i highly recommend it if you want maximum Tenkaichi competitive depth value 👌👍

    • @_jagger1407
      @_jagger1407 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the Ki bonus on a sucessful ZC turns it into a really bad defensive option
      The ZC has always favored less Ki (the one with less Ki is guaranteed to get a punish off if they can time the teleports) and BT4 giving only you, the user, full Ki, means the opponent can keep their Ki low and essentially nullify all ZCs you do. Obviously, transformations now using Ki only helps in making this even worse, since those also take away Ki. The Aerial Clash after a long ZC chain also sucks, because now the ZC user must also win the QTE battle just to be able to draw an advantage out of it.
      TeamBT4 also made the EBW cost 9.000 HP for no reason (seriously, why was that necessary) and added Rushing Technique follow-ups that are all teleportable and thus less useful in a PVP match
      This is why the competitive scene doesn't really like the mod, it just worsens defensive mechanics while giving you offensive options that you can get punished for using

    This is the first time I see Tenkaichi 1. I remember not trying it out at the time because the general opinion was that Budokai 3 was better, so I only checked the series when T2 came out.

    I wish this video had a script. It just feels like two guys talking about the game. Which is cool. But I wanted a break down of tech and how it's changed between games. Not, "so uh... Oh right we also have this"

    Type W and tell the creators of Sparking Zero to add the combo that you press square until the combo stops then press X and then straight to press square again this is an important combo because everyone wants it💥

    I remember learning Tenkaichi 3 somewhat well, at least compared to all the other DBZ fighting games I had at that age- there was ultimately still a lot of mashing involved if memory serves. I remember really enjoying the blast combos, though. And I even knew about the jumping destructo disc! But I definitely remember never figuring out the Sonic Sway or the combo breaker.

    I'm certainly not at the level of Hawk, but some of these moves and combos (especially in BT3) I do them often, even though I mostly play against AI, seeing someone that knows them and more, makes me glad someone fully understands it, because I always felt like BT3 had a lot of deep under the surface which I love so much

    This is why I find Raging Blast 2 better - you don't need bugs and deep mechanic knowledge to connect and cancel into cool combos. Most things there are intuitive and still complex enough to keep you engaged with each new character you pick (because they have different combos, unlike in Tenkaichis), so I don't get how RB2 was always treated as a mediocre DBZ game (aside of removal of the Story Mode), because combat-wise it was the best one, IMO.

    • @2HORNSREDEYES
      @2HORNSREDEYES 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This exactly why raging blast 2 is WORSE …
      The tech in the games makes the depth. But the game is great and deep even without the tech.
      but raging blast is a stripped down version of what these games offer. BT3 In particular.
      I’ll die on that hill, the mechanics that they changed were not worth changing .. the handful of additions weren’t worth the trade off

    • @turbotrup96
      @turbotrup96 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@2HORNSREDEYES elaborate on how RB2 is a watered down version of Tenkaichi 3.
      In RB2 you can continue combo from almost any Smash attack, and Smash attacks can be performed even after sidestepping.
      I don't see how it's fun to make new players, who just want to plug-in and play together on a couch, have to go through a command list while you can just give them an intuitive combat mechanics.
      You are also saying this as if RB2 (or even 1) had low skill ceiling, so I dare you to watch some high level online battles on YT, come back, and tell me the same thing.

    • @doncinati7644
      @doncinati7644 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@turbotrup96i mean i think both games have their merits, like the movement in Tenkaichi is superior but Raging Blast combos were the coolest in any DB game. RB movement is ass but while Tenkaichi’s combos aren’t necessarily lacking they aren’t as fun to do as in RB
