What's interesting to me is that Rinako's design (at least this one) indicates how much of a foil he is to Rin. Her crown is on the left, his is on the right. She has short hair, he has long, from left to right her hair is black then white, his is white (mostly) then black. She has pants, he has a skirt. Eyes are swapped. The biggest contrast to me is that Rin's design is consistent (has not too many colors, has a balance of details, and most importantly, stays "in character", doesn't break suspension of disbelief, it looks like something fantasy prince would wear) and his is not (much more complex color scheme, many details, and fantasy vibe is broken in quite a few places, with microphone being most obvious example).
@@nemo53 Yes and no? How a person looks relates to their gender expression. Rin, though still somewhat obviously a girl, has a more non-binary vibe (as opposed to outright tomboy vibes), whereas Rinako is very much feminine (to the point where he looks like a girl rather than a femboy).

Maybe not foil but a mirror, idk which is which (many small contrasts)
also rinako very much has a gender but rin has very much removed hers
@@mightykingwario that has no relation to design, which is what I'm talking about
