    Awesome video Dennis! I had no idea you could modify the assist like that. I sure enjoyed it brother! 😊🇺🇸🔥👍👍

      Thanks Craig! It doesn’t work on every brand, but this one does for sure. Glad you enjoyed and I appreciate you stopping by brother!

    I’ve done this to a few knives many years ago…. Works great on some but not all assisted knives as some use that spring to load up in the closed door position and holds the knife closed…
    That’s a great tutorial 🤘🤘

      Yeah I tried it on that schrade Dirk gave me and it didn’t like it one bit lol. Thanks Alex 👊🏽

    Love it. I love the look of the blur but don't love Assisted knives. Thank you for this tutorial.

    I've had a Blur with the partially serrated tanto blade ever since I saw John Reese with one years ago on Person of Interest. Too cool!😄
    It is, without exception, clipped on my pocket every day! I used to use it for various cutting tasks but now it's kept razor sharp for "special needs" and I have various other folders for the mundane tasks.😉👍🏻

    What's the purpose of de-assisting them?

    • @edc4fun
      @edc4fun  ปีที่แล้ว

      It gives it a different feel when deploying the blade as well as when closing it. Purely a preference thing. The blur has a very smooth pivot action which you can’t feel when the spring takes over. It’s very smooth.

    • @neongirl
      @neongirl 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is a possibility that the assist spring will fail sooner or later. It's nice to know that in this case Blur will continue to function as if nothing had happened. Not all Kershaw knives have a recess in the blade for the detent ball.

  • @DogLegDoug

    Great video! The blur was my first knife that wasn't a traditional. I may de-assist one after watching this, I got a real beat-up one and a newer one.

    I've been thinking of modding the inside scales by drilling holes for magnets (for the detent) & then de-assisting the knife...

    I know this video is old. But I have two of the exact same knives. Even green. I carry one everyday at work the other rarely. I took my work one apart and cleaned it cause it was filthy. Been using it for years. Everytime I reassemble it the spring assist is weak now. Super weak almost doesn’t work. Everything seems to be seated back just how it was. My newer one POPS open really well. The wel used one wasn’t as strong but barely works now. What could I have done wrong? I’ve had it apart and back together 20 times and still the same.

    • @edc4fun

      Did you check the spring for any defects? (cracks, etc) Also did you grease the spring?

  • @rustyshackleford7038

    Deassisted many blurs over the years but 90% of the time the centering is never right after that. Tried everything to fix it and nothing helps. On one I'm carrying a lot lately the blade rubs the side when it's closing. Super annoying but the knife is still usable.

    • @edc4fun
      @edc4fun  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess I’ve gotten pretty lucky with mine. Thanks for watching!

      @@edc4fun No problem, thanks for putting the video out! I'm going to keep playing around with mine to see if I can get it to center a bit better. Like I said it's still usable, it's just irritating to hear the blade scrape the scale when I close it
