I live in Montreal and we are having the same thing with the tents. Prices of housing have skyrocketed in the last years and people just said fk it and started to live in tents in a park. The mayor is trying to remove them but the population is actually on the side of the tenters because it's true that the prices have gone crazy. It's like a form of protest I guess. I'm really surprised you guys also have this in the US. It does make sense though it is a problem in every big city. I wonder what will happen this winter as this "trend" has started this summer. Ride safe man!

I mean, the value/price of houses and real estate only increases when people start paying more for such properties?
So the only way the cost increased was because people buying the homes were paying more for them, right?
Also, there is a middle ground between $350k houses, and living in tents. The majority of the people who work and are unhappy with the increased prices of houses, just turn to renting, either apartments or lower priced housing in lower income areas.
Most people who are working are not going to turn to voluntary homelessness because they are mad about increased home prices.
I think unemployment is the driving factor here, not increased home prices.
@@thomass789 when I said housing, I also meant to include appartment prices. They have all gone up crazy in Montreal. In Canada not many people became homeless because of covid with the emergency wage subsidy that the government offered. Maybe in Philly the situation is different, I was just stating that where I live, we started to have the same tent "thing" this year.
