    Is there any way to use the Action 2 for extended periods with the power module and "high" heat mode? Once it overheats and you swap a new power module or dual screen in does it "reset" the overheating or is it the main unit that needs time to cool down? Does an aluminum case dissipate heat at all? I'd like to use to for 1+ hour sessions, even if it means swapping in a new power module. If it's unable to I'll likely go with the hero10 + Enduro batteries.

    Hands down the best video i have seen on this so far because you went biking with it!!! How sturdy does that thing feel when mounted? Does it feel like the second module could jiggle loose?

    • @CineD
      @CineD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey John, thank you. It actually feels quite sturdy. I mean, when you connect the two modules together, there is very small wiggle (like 0.5mm maybe), but no way it cen get disconnected. The side locks are really holding it well. Jakub

    Nice, well balanced review. But please, take that hyperlapse footage out - that could give someone a seizure and it really doesn't serve the review. I had to turn away until it was finished.

    • @JakubHanVisual
      @JakubHanVisual 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. You mean the half-hour bike ride? It actually isn't a hyperlapse. I just didnt know how to show otherwise that I recorded for 30 mins straight.

    2 years behind the GoPro HERO10.
    Major issues with DJI Action 2:
    - overheating
    - no SD slot in main camera body, so if you run out of storage you need to tether and dump to a computer
    - no 5.3K
    - RockSteady not as good as GoPro
    - expensive
    - only 12MP still photos
    The bottom line for us is while the "key opinion leaders" all ran through the specs and are promoting the Action 2 in a separate affiliate program (DJI shut down it's main affiliate program in May) almost NONE of the KOL's are saying anything really positive about the Action 2.

    • @JakubHanVisual
      @JakubHanVisual 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the comments about RockSteady and price are not relevant. The price is more or less same as the HERO10. Stabilization level is very similar. Sure, resolution is not as high, but the 4K120 and 4K 4:3 from the DJI is really nice. Dont forget the size difference too.

    Excellent review. I think the big mistake with this camera is the name. Really, it has nothing to do with the Action 1 - it's not really designed as an Action 1 upgrade. They should have called it the DJI Modular or something. That would cause less customer confusion. Secondly, I think people should initially forget about the modular aspect. Think of it as a one-piece camera with the camera unit and screen unit as one piece. End of anxiety about memory size and battery. But - hey, if you want, you can use the camera part on its own for short periods when it's too big in its normal mode. Bonus! Really, it's a more serious version of the excellent Go 2, not a better GoPro. Mine's in the post...

    • @CineD
      @CineD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Peter, yes I agree with you. I still wish that DJI included a larger internal memory in the camera. That way, the usability of the body alone would be much better. But I also see it as a more versatile option than the GoPro.

  • @HarnTeh

    thank for great informative video, i saw you attached the monitor together with the main camera unit during your bike rides, does the magnet hold both of them from your entire shooting? no issue? no drop? 2nd question - with the additional monitor attach with main camera unit, does it works on the necklack band that they provided in box, presumably i would like to use it on street while i am taking photo. i think this way, it prolong battery life of recording, and the magnet should strong enough to hold from entire shoot

    • @CineD
      @CineD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Harn Teh, DJI's magnetic system with the side locks holds the camera very well even with an additional module. There were no issues whatsoever. The camera did not fall off. I did not crash with it, but I think the connection might even survive that. When it comes to the chest lanyard, you can attach the camera even with the mounted front touchscreen module to it, but as the camera is quite heavy that way, it might eventually fall off with a rapid movement. On the lanyard, I would only use it bare or maybe with the power module, which is slightly thinner.

    Hmm I’m not sold on the form factor. It will certainly be great in some scenarios (FPV etc), but it also feels like several steps backwards. I feel this is a different camera to the original action, which basically perfected the body style for regular action cameras. Ruggered, waterproof, dual screens, replaceable lens. 32gb is a disappointing, they should have put 128gb so it was at least useable without the other modules

    I have been waiting for this camera and when it's released I'm a little confused about it..
    I would like to buy a camera to use as motorcycle/car camcorder, but i can see few problems:
    1. Memory - ~20Gb's on camera is a little bit small
    2. Battery - for continuous working built-in battery is very small
    So from my perspective camera without extension could be used occasionally and significant amount of time it has to be used with external battery or touchscreen.
    And finally I have one important question - is it possible to use a camera connected to power supply with recording in loop?

Sorry to say this product is just junk ...they really got to address the overheating. Battery life on it sucks as well. For the price you are paying you would expect very high level of engineering. • @CineD
      @CineD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Kumar, it is actually pretty simple. I just used two small square-shaped pieces of strong double-sided scotch tape at the bottom of the camera. I placed them so that they don't cover the pins, but you could even put the tape over them - it does not leave any residue. Then I pressed it gently on the drone's body. The connection already felt pretty solid, but for added safety, I also taped it around the Action 2 and on the sides of the Mini 2's body with electrical tape. That's it.

I just hope it doesn't have to do anything with the balancing of the drone. But anyways thank you so much for the comment!

    The SD card really should've been on the main module... 20GB is nothing, so a module is pretty much required, and each battery change requires moving the SD card into the new battery. Imagine doing that with gloves or any kind of gear. Plus no waterproofing, and no replaceable lens? I feel like DJI have abandoned action sports altogether. This camera looks really cool but it seems designed for something else.

    14:39 WAT? PAL? We are not living in 1990 ;) PAL is already dead - there is no issues with PAL/NTSC in digital world. You choose whatever you like - monitors usually refreshes at 60 Hz. The best fit is 60 fps or 30 fps as each frame have one to one or one to two mapping.

    • @liamriley9816
      @liamriley9816 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The issue is the frequency that the lights are operating at fam, it has nothing to do with the display 😂

      @@liamriley9816 Ahhhh :D I wasn't watching carefully AFTER your sentence about PAL. Ok, it's not PAL thing but wall socket/grid frequency thing. PAL/NTSC was of course designed to take into account power grid frequency but saying in 21 century that due to PAL thing you changed to 50 Hz is a bit misleading ;)

    • @CineD
      @CineD  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We don't think it is, if you shoot for European TV stations you still have to shoot in 25p/50i - apart from the flicker issue with 24p/30p/60i in Europe

    • @rfly-fpv
      @rfly-fpv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CineD Hmm, interesting. Currently entire Europe went into Digital Video Broadcasting. Majority of equipment in houses are LCD/OLED panels. They don't suffer from the technical problems like CRT TVs. Interlaced video was invented as CRT electron beam was to slow to illuminate entire "frame" (as top was already started to fade until bottom was drawn). Solution was to first draw odd lines and then even lines. I have hard times to believe that in Digital Europe where DVB-T is used TV stations still require interlaced video (as you wrote 50i and 60i). My knowledge is purely theoretical but as I software engineer I see no reason why anybody would like to deal with interlaced video. When you draw first odd lines and then even lines in next frame you have this stupid "interlacing effect" as those frames are the scene in different points it times that deinterlacer needs to eliminate. From technical point of view PAL doesn't exists anymore and flicker effect is NOT related to PAL but purely grid frequency - that is the only reason why you need to adjust your fps in camera to not have flickering. Maybe PAL still lives in old equipment in some TV stations
