Enjoy the quiet and simple seaside provincial life! Great for relaxing. The boys sitting tightly together in the baobao making it roomier for you both is typical- we want to make guests feel as comfy as possible, even at our own discomfort. Those boys are also showing respect for older folks. Nice, traditional family values!

I’m so amused and loved your Mom. She’s so sweet and a wonderful mother. She is easy to please and very appreciative with no complains. Try eating real Filipino meal now for and don’t let your Mom eat all fruits and carbs since some are high in sugar and bad for her health. Need to eat fish, meat, chicken and veggies, sea food for nutrition balanced meal and protein. Take care and stay safe.
Totally agree! Diet high in sugar is not healthy as it can cause elevated blood sugar level which can lead to diabetes. Your mom needs a balanced diet as mentioned by @annmarie.

Filipinos are very welcoming and accommodating. just imagine we still have that tradition that if you have a visitor in the house the home owner will give the best room of the house, best blanket and pillows, serve the best food use the best plates, glasses and utensils. it is like we buy good things reserved for visitors but for daily use we are using the old ones. here in South Australia if you want to visit a friend you need to give notice as to when and what time you don't just pop in whenever you want. but in the Philippines visitors just come without notice especially relatives and stayed long. we treat visitors special. enjoy your vacation and be safe always.

different bakeries have different recipes for each type of bread. you should ask the locals of the area wherever you are which bakery to go to.

Mangosteen is one of my favorite fruits but too expensive here in the US. Province lifestyle is really good for Mama Olga’s health. She can get lots of exercise and eat fresh fruits. Enjoy your stay in the Philippines and be safe.

Mangosteen good for your mom. Has many health benefits, fights cancer, lowers blood sugar, antioxidant, good for heart, controls obesity, good for brain, etc.
Your Mom is really losing weight and while I'm not a doctor, that is good given her medical condition. However, she should also have other nutrients like carbs, meats, and in particular, fish and vegetables. Fish should not be a problem on your island. Fruits can also spike her sugar, too much of mango, melon, you know...even mangosteen should be eaten in moderation...too much of that can plunge your blood pressure too low.
Your Mom makes me smile, too. She is so easy to please, easy to smile, shaking her head in pleasure over what she is experiencing. She noticed those boys giving up their seats so you could be more comfortable...it says she has fine breeding and also explains your own behaviour, so soft-spoken, so calm, so reflective. You are so lucky to have a whole undisturbed month alone with your mother on a quiet island....I wish I had my Mom with me now...
