Really like the guy saluting at 1:27 there. No honestly, what respect he has for his country! The USSR had faults, but what it aimed to be united by was not a fault at all.
A couple of years later many of the choir propaply was part of the Baltic Chain of Freedom. But OK this footage really reminds my of my 80'ies childhood...
There is also an Estonian language version of the anthem of the USSR. But here it is presented in Russian because in the 1980s the leader of the Estonian SSR Karl Vaino who was in power 1978-1988, implemented a pro-Russian policy, and this clip is from 1985, the nation wide song festival. For example, earlier, in the 1960s, 70s the anthem of the USSR was performed in Estonian in the song festivals.

Estonians say they hatted the USSR. I can understand, of course. But, I think there is certainly the argument that they were more unified than they are today. That was one thing about the Soviet Union that we should keep/learn from, the unification! Even if it was only apparent, it was more than nothing.
They definitely weren't "united" under the Soviet Union. They were repressed and any individuals with differences of opinion were persecuted. Democracy is inherently messy because all opinions are voiced whether right, wrong or indifferent.
