Thanks for watching! And big thanks to Brian for meeting up. Here's the tour of his motorhome that he did with Bob on the Cheap RV Living channel earlier in the year: th-cam.com/video/miNuJe79L18/w-d-xo.html -Tristan
great video! I'm in Idaho. I have a camper van on a Ram Promaster 1500 chassis. It has 9" of clearance and Toyo Open Country AT tires. It's front wheel drive. Would it be able to get up the Railroad Ridge road?
I roll a 27ft shuttlebus we repurposed into a commercial level RV. Kept the ramp and left an open floor plan. Cheaper than you'd think. Don't give up hope.
OBrien333, I had just thought”wow, what views and accessible to physically disabled people and I came across your comment, I fully agree, thanks Tristan for taking us to these gorgeous geological locals we may never be able to see ourselves !
yeah I've got heart failure and lung cancer and was thinking the same thing, along with man i wish i could take one more hike. probably not gonna happen so....
There ought to be an award for this video. I love watching your climbs, listening to your narrations. This is so beautiful and inspirational. Thankful.
People called me crazy in my teens as I became a roofer doing the most challenging of roofs in the city of St. Louis at times. I once did a five story steeple over concrete with nothing but a safety rope around the spire anchored by a larger man. My first day on the job was a virtual wall rising two foot for every foot of run with the gutter at forty feet over concrete and no safety belt. All that said, YOU ARE NUTS DOING THIS. Free climbing this remote with no buddy is just outside my mental framework. Truly a human mountain goat. Hats off to you Tristan. Thanks for the video but at sixty nine years old now, I won't be following you into the wilds. Could not physically do it if I wanted to. Still some amazing vistas. Just never take chances for TH-cam and never to anything you would not do for your own pleasure. That would be a tragedy to lose you because you went over your skis for a dang video. Thanks again and be well.
Oh, hell no! I would never make that climb by myself! Kudos to you for filming this! Spectacular views and awesome camera work. This probably is my most favorite video that you have done. Your videos just keep getting better and better!
Tristan I just want to express my sincere thanks for allowing me to see these spectacular gorgeous sights! The way you film is top class! I know it takes a tremendous amount of work on your part to take the shots where you place the camera and walk away but it makes it feel as if I am there hiking with you. THANK YOU!
It adds about 10% extra distance, on a big day ends up being miles extra. I make similar videos on Vancouver Island which looks drastically different than this.
Wow, Tristan, this video is packed full of eye candy for mountain lovers! So much beauty to take in. We always think about how, to get the shots of your hiking, you have to go back, get your camera, and do it again. Thanks for your efforts; it really gives us a chance to see these amazing places!
17:27-28 "We did it". Thank you, Tristan, for including me in "our" accomplishment this morning! I deserved the kudos for fighting through my fear (for you) while picking "our" way up the loose rocky ridge to the summit. Also, in regards to your fear while driving in the back country, remember: We are Hrududu (reference Watership Down, by Richard Adams). Your videos, and narration, are pure class. Keep up the good work.
WOW ! virtually is definitely the only way I'll be doing this after 78 years in Earth School here ! Loved it ! Remembering hiking in Colorado 40 years ago !!
Thank you for all your excellent videos! The bonus is being able to listen to nature sounds instead of annoying music. The ambiance is wonderful and makes it feel as if we are there hiking with you instead of just watching you. 🤠
Really. I have had to turn off some really beautiful videos because of the silly music. Even if it's really good music. I have never heard anything like that when I am hiking...
While I love watching Tristan and learning about his awesome hiking, in my 80 years of life, there has never been a moment that I would have considered doing this. I have climbed Mt Fuji twice, but compared to this, that was a walk in the park.
You know where you said “this is a geologist’s dream?” That’s where I (a geologist) was yelling at the screen to “PAN BACK RIGHT TOWARD THE SYNCLINE!!!” That Area with the u-shaped beds on the Chinese Wall is SPECTACULAR! Definitely added that area to my to-be-visited list! Thanks!
This is Chris's Dad who watches most of all your great videos of traveling out west. I love the scenery and mountains and how clean and pure everything is and your narration of the history of the places. I am 63 and in the beginning when you left the bakery and pointed at the Sawtooth mountain range and pointed to a mountain top and casually said I think I'll climb that tomorrow. I am totally amazed and don't know how you do it. Does anyone else in your family have the stamina to do the things you do? I paused the video to write this. I think I have watched all the states on Arial America which a drone flies over various places in the state as the narrator simply addresses the history. Your videos are more personable and the close up shots you provide on treacherous trails and mountains make you give you a feeling of being there. I wish you could get a show of "Close Up Real Hiking and Exploring". Well I'll get back to the video now and Thank You.
Amazing scenery the mountains of Idaho are truly beautiful. In climbing the Sawtooth Mountains it doesn't look like you ever have to worry about it getting too crowded, don't think your average hiker is going to want to venture up those. What a great place to car camp up on the high road in the White Cloud Mountain area, great views with what I would imagine has spectacular sunrises and sunsets.
Another mind-blowing video, and views of these spectacular mountain ranges! Every time I am still in awe of your labor-intensive camera shots (you hiking away or past) and then I picture you going back and collecting the camera...over and over. Thank you for doing this amazing filming!!! Also, I was holding my breath a few times while you crawled up Thompson Peak and then back down again! Yikes! I am not that brave!
Thanks again for another adventure that you take us viewers on.. I can't imagine doing this by myself. I always worry about your safety, doing these dangerous things by yourself, and not just doing them, but the additional risk, and work of filming them. Wonderful views of a place at my age I will never see in person. Definitely world class views.
The skill level to hike, record and host a video like this in such a challenging environment is huge. Stay safe, Tristan, as I’m hoping to see many more adventures as you travel.
This video is absolutely superb - an award winner if there has ever been one! Thank you Tristan for sharing this magnificence. I think you might have a little mountain goat in you!! Just breathtaking! Thanks so very much!
You are doing what I used to do when I was young. So glad you can drive up so high, that way people like me who can no longer hike to the top can still get up to the good views.
First Class Tristan. It's a pleasure to get out of my tight eye lens muscle world and envision the utter pleasure of imagining those muscles at their most relaxed state when looking afar to the rocky horizons. A big ol' cleansing breath for the eyes. One of your very best videos ever. Congrats on the achievement and appreciation for opening my eyes to Idaho's high altitude treasures.
Epic views! Thanks for taking us along. Totally agree, hitting wildlife is my biggest fear. I usually travel after dawn & settle in before dusk to minimize the risk.
thats been my biggest fear as well , i have had some great close encounters with some amazing wild life , and the only ones that actually made contact and hurt me were humans
“Places to go and things to do” now for me is GO turn on TH-cam and watch Tristan DO the mountains! Haha. Thank you for your videos! ❤️ I can’t travel at this time except through you guys.
I’ve never been to the Sawtooth Mountains. I definitely want to go, although the hike you took is probably beyond my capabilities. I can definitely do the Railroad Ridge drive and hike the smaller peak. Thank you for posting this. You always do a great job Tristan.
I liked the views at 14:16...gesshhh. I doubt I could have proceeded further, or if I could have reached that spot. So many thanks for showing me the views! Stunning! Natural World is so ...Perfect. You capture it just as Perfectly! Nice fishing holes... I'm thrilled Brian, CRVL, FINALLY did a video of your...SUVring...I've been asking them to do so for years. There's so much more then staying in a RV or camp....I hope I never run outta steam...or you either! Happy Trails and Tight Lines!
Certainly a vicarious hike for me but amazingly gorgeous scenery 😍 I think I lost my breath a couple times here safely planted at my 3 foot elevation😅 Thank you for all your adventures! I think I might put that drive on my to go see and do list though😄
Unbelievably awesome scenery, butt clenching rating, 3 days of total constipation after that hike. Calling your hike scary is a gross understatement. I was most impressed by your boldness.
I was born and raised in the Idaho panhandle, but I've never made it to Stanley. It's definitely on my bucket list. I'm in my mid 60's now so I'm past my ability to make a hike like that, so thanks for making it possible to enjoy it with you!
one your videography. I couldn't do this anymore: old cardiac patient. THEREFORE, you videos truly are a comfort... and good to know that these places are still here in such a populas world!
This was stupendous!! I don’t usually comment on these types of things, but it truly was a visual delight..and that bakery, it is a must for me to visit! Idaho is now on my list…
First video of yours for me. Immediately subscribed. The chute you descended from Williams peak reminded me of two of my own adventures. One was when I descended from what I thought was Thumb Rock on Mt Shasta, but was a thumb-shaped rock lower down the ridge. About 90 minutes of creating/riding rockslides down to Helen Lake. The other was a very steep/loose chute I ascended about 600 feet of elevation up, attempting the peak north of Tikaboo Peak. Descending, I avoided it and stuck to some very tricky side-sloped rock. At one point I found myself totally inverted with my head 3 feet over extremely steep rock. Through some miracle, I continued rotating perfectly and stuck the landing on a small level patch. Choose your poison, on steep enough mountains without trails, you're in for an adventure no matter what route you pick.
I appreciated how you said "less people then normal" but then corrected it to "fewer people than normal". I love it when someone uses 'fewer' for count nouns.
WOW! Idaho is a truly beautiful state! Loved watching you climb the mountains & sit on the edge for a snack while overlooking that breathtaking lake view. So many mountains 😱😱😱 Thanks for the trip, Tristan. 🙋🏼♀️👍🏻
Wow, Tristan! Wow! Wow! Wow! Thank you for your efforts to take us along on this amazing tour of Idaho's treasures. My fear of heights and 64-year old body would never allow me to follow in your footsteps, so being able to live vicariously through you is a blessing. My hobby is landscape photography and the early morning light on the mountains at 10:15 and 10:45 could definitely lead to some portfolio-quality images. I'm envious.
Great video what great mountains in Idaho, I live in Nampa, Idaho and have camped at Red Fish lake and been to Stanley many times but at 75 years old I'm not physically able to climb those mountains but when I watch all of your videos I feel like I'm there with you! Keep up the good work I love all of your creative filming.
Is it over can I open my eyes now? !🙏😱 Wow! I've watched people climb higher icy mountains but those rocks tumbling down the mountain as you climbed were frightening to see and listen to. 😨 This video has to rank way up there in your content and you have very high ranking content! 🏆From start to finish an amazing experience with stunning stunning views! How you do this I will never understand but you sure open up a world of beauty to us. 🧡
Tristan, this is your best, and it is very good. I consider you’re solo in Wind River Range your previous best, but this is extremely satisfying. I’m at a loss for words… I suppose your craft has gotten better and your equipment, but bagging Thompson after Williams was masterful! That’s grit. Thank you for a very enjoyable video.
Great place to do some great camera work man! Let me know when you’re ready to go big, LOL. Please come visit I’ve got some mind-boggling stuff I just put up and one of my best for this Thursday. I had a really unbelievable season myself and I appreciate your documenting this area, I’m gonna have to get out there!
So beautiful! Love these mountains in Idaho! My step dad had a cabin at Henry’s Lake. When we would go up there, we would drive all over and do as much hiking as dad could being in his 90s. It is such wonderful country. Dad has since passed and the cabin sold so it may be awhile before I can get up there again. Thanks for the memories!
Thank you Tristan for these great hikes and taking the time to narrate enough information on these beautiful locals so that we can get a sense of where you’ve taken us! Oh, you’re one tough young man for all the climbing you do and the effort it must take to film these routes, thank you!
I love the Sawtooths - personal reasons. Such a beautiful mountain range with lovely glacial lakes. This was a wonderful video! Thanks for letting us go along on your journey.
I’ve been following you for several years, plus watching all your previous videos. This is the BEST yet. I was really worried about you several times, but you sure took us to places most people will never see and I thank you for that!!
❤️ the mountain range you climbed. Idaho is so beautiful. Funny you talked about deer 🦌 being what your 😱 afraid of You inspired me to start car 🚗 camping in my Rav4. I was driving from Capital Reef and was about 20miles outside of Bryce and was driving through the mountains at dusk and was only doing 35mph because of free ranging cattle and dodged 3 different groups of deer somehow drove another 5mins and a doe 😳 just jumped out of a thicket on the side of road it rolled off my right front bumper and somehow was able to run away. my rav4 miraculously was still drivable for the rest of my trip in Utah. So thankful I was going slow for the Cattle.
spectacular scenery Tristan! and how cool that Brian interviewed you for a CheapRVLiving video! I spent many summers in Bear Valley as a kid and I'm so grateful to see those beautiful Sawtooths 50 years later! Thanks for sharing!
Been watching your channel off and on for a while now. This video made me purchase your book. Hoping to semi-retire soon and head out west to see the other side of America. Haven't been out west since 1997 (Yosemite, KK, and Sequoia) and before that, 1976! (Yellowstone, RMNP, Tetons). Looking forward to exploring.
I watched this in full 4k and WOW - absolutely stunning scenery in every shot! what a great video, Tristan - thank you for sharing these wonderful adventures with us! your rock climbing footage always gives me vertigo though haha :)
Wow! Awesome! Stupendous! How does your wife not cringe when she sees you climbing and descending in this video! Yikers! Beautiful and stunning views! Thank you for sharing and daring to go where I cannot and would not!!!
Hey! What a treat to see Brian pop in! Looking forward to seeing his tour of your rig. As for climbing all that rock, that was a nail-biting section! Thanks for yet another amazing video of a part of our beautiful country.
Ok, Tristan, I went on a backpacking trip with the sierra club in 1985, it was up Loon creek (accessed from Stanley) and then to the confluance of Middle fork of salmon river and hiked that and flew out in a cessna 182 to Challis. We hit a LOT of hot springs, many that were just TOO hot though. Your channel brings those awesome memories back!!
I love all of your mountain hiking videos. Like other comments, I would not be physically able to hike these locations and your videos take us to places that some may never get to go without your excellent camera work. Thanks for doing this! Stay safe.
wow~~ I live in Seoul in korea. I' ve never posted any comments. But your climbing and the spectacle views made me drop my jaw and get marveld. i'm so lucky to meet your channel. i'm looking forwad to watching your vedios every single Sunday. Thank you so much for your efforts and sharing your artistic vedeo.
Super impressive! The views are mind boggling but your hiking it is just as mind blowing! You must have nerves of steel! My legs are burning just watching! Go You!! ❤️
Just looking at those mountains was so totally inspiring; they were gorgeous, but you could definitely see why they were a crushing sight to Lewis and Clark.
WOW! Incredible! I can see why my nephew moved back to Idaho! Colorado is gorgeous, but wow! And I'm sure state laws and regulations played a role as well. Absolutely stunning!!!! Thank you, Tristan!
i had an Uncle Joe who worked with the Three C's in Idaho , he loved the Adventure , now i see why , what a beautiful place it is , thank you for doing what you like to do
The baking company place did look good. Erick Schat's Bakery is the one in Bishop, CA. A must stop at the feet of the eastern Sierras down the hill from Mammoth and not too terribly far from the East entrance to Yosemite.
As a disabled person who used to be able to do this stuff, you're allowing me to continue enjoying my passion. Thank you.
Same here! I have to enjoy many activities vicariously now. Tristan's videos are really fun to watch.

We didn't see the goat because you're the Goat! I got dizzy just looking at this video on my computer! Amazing views, thanks! ❤🙏
Oh, hell no! I would never make that climb by myself! Kudos to you for filming this! Spectacular views and awesome camera work. This probably is my most favorite video that you have done. Your videos just keep getting better and better!
Thanks Art, I appreciate the kind words!
Art that's the same thing I just said to myself before I saw your comment lmao!!!!
Agreed! Thank you for filming all that beauty.
Uhm, yeah, hell no!!! Gorgeous though.
Agreed....when he looked down from the rocks....goosebumps, than chills all over my body....lol

I’m at a loss for words… I suppose your craft has gotten better and your equipment, but bagging Thompson after Williams was masterful! That’s grit. Thank you for a very enjoyable video.
True Grit
Thank you for showing these things that I'd never otherwise have a chance to see. This is one of the prettiest videos of yours I've seen yet. Thanks!
Man, one of your best vlogs yet! Epic views great hikes. This video had it all. Well done! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Tristan for these great hikes and taking the time to narrate enough information on these beautiful locals so that we can get a sense of where you’ve taken us! Oh, you’re one tough young man for all the climbing you do and the effort it must take to film these routes, thank you!
10:13 - 10:25 was such a pretty shot of Idaho.
Wow two 10,000 foot peaks in one day. You are killing it. 😎👍
Definitely the most scenic adventure I've seen on your channel. Stunning views. Seems like endless possibilities must exist in that area of Idaho.
I love the Sawtooths - personal reasons. Such a beautiful mountain range with lovely glacial lakes. This was a wonderful video! Thanks for letting us go along on your journey.
I got vertigo just watching you climb the highest part. I’m just sitting in a recliner. Great vicarious experience!🦌💌👍🙌✌️🙏👏
I’ve been following you for several years, plus watching all your previous videos. This is the BEST yet. I was really worried about you several times, but you sure took us to places most people will never see and I thank you for that!!
Fantastic vlog, Tristan! I really enjoyed the scenery and how much beauty that Idaho has to offer. Thanks for taking us along.
Although loving all your videowork, your climbing makes me fear for your safety. Glad that by you posting a video, means you’re sound and safe.
Wow impressive outing
OMG! The places you go and hike are amazing! Thank you for taking us along for the journey! It is beautiful!
My favorite part was your huffing and puffing on the way up: your not a machine after all 🤣
10:40... that's some serious eye candy. Just beautiful. Thank you for sharing your adventure!
Absolutely stunning! Just found your channel and subscribed. Hike on!
Hey! What a treat to see Brian pop in! Looking forward to seeing his tour of your rig. As for climbing all that rock, that was a nail-biting section! Thanks for yet another amazing video of a part of our beautiful country.
10:40 As you pan, I am also expecting to see the edge of a frame on a wall!
Mad Respect Tristan! That was one heck of a hike.
Super impressive! The views are mind boggling but your hiking it is just as mind blowing! You must have nerves of steel! My legs are burning just watching! Go You!! ❤️
Incredible shot at 10:18. Thanks for going through the extra effort to do the camera setups to bring us along with you.
Loved this video!
Unbelievable! Right before your drone crashed I was thinking “wow! What amazing footage!” 🤯💥😆 you really blew me away with this video. Thank you!!
Your videos are one of my favorite parts of Saturday mornings! Love that Land Cruiser and appreciate all the adventures you share. Happy Trails 🥾
i had an Uncle Joe who worked with the Three C's in Idaho , he loved the Adventure , now i see why , what a beautiful place it is , thank you for doing what you like to do
That Land Cruiser looks amazing! The baking company reminds me of the one in Bishop, CA.
The baking company place did look good. Erick Schat's Bakery is the one in Bishop, CA. A must stop at the feet of the eastern Sierras down the hill from Mammoth and not too terribly far from the East entrance to Yosemite.
Hiked the Sawtooths 40 years ago and glad to see it is still much what I remembered.
This one is breathtaking!! I'm scared to death of heights and my stomach was in knots. You're totally alone, how do you do it??!!! wow the views.
The Land cruiser already opening up a whole new world of adventure. Love it.
Your drone shots are just getting so good. I loved that you kept the drone crash in the footage.
Tristan, all I can say is WOW and thanks for the video.....
