I am SO glad he had this skate in Japan. They are such a kind and gracious audience and they LOVE drama, heart, fire and emotion from their men. One of the reasons Hanyu was so beloved as is Jason Brown and now Kevin can assure himself good paying exhibition work for the rest of his skating days if he wants it. He is just so special. Skating is so much better for having him and Jason Brown in it. What a victory for him, he was so injured last season and into earlier this season. Now he skates his best when and where it counts most! I am thrilled for him!
I came to watch his performance again. I most probably will watch it again. This is what FS is all about. Skill, ARTISTRY, emotion, music interpretation and choreography that lift you up from your seat to give the skater a standing ovation. Bravo, Bravo. May God bless you Kevin. I fell asleep with TH-cam running on my TV and I woke up in the middle of the night to the Gladiator soundtrack and immediately had to look for this program. Rofl
This is true figure skating, whole package. I haven't been so emotional lately. Good for you, Kevin! I am officially your fan after watching this program.
I wish this could be made into two separate events: ice jumping and figure skating. Let the jumpers compete against each other, maybe they'll even be able to do quints and beyond, kind of like a track & field event on ice. And let the figure skaters with fluidity, artistry, and the ability to evoke emotion compete against each other, not against the jumpers.
1:50 the twizzles to 3Lo is just one of the most satisfying transitions ever (along with Yuzu's spread eagle to 3A and others). Kevin did SO beautifully. Truly the skate of a lifetime for him. I would be ready to give him bronze over Malinin's messy jumpfest ANY day
Not enough quads for a medal. Ok. But then, how good and sweet this was...This guy is one of the coolest. He enjoyed his time on the ice, and so did I. Keep going Kevin !

It was an incredible men's championship. All three men deserve to medal. Ilian with the quad axel. You can't deny him a medal especially with the body of work he put in this year. He will definitely improve next year with his artistry.

Then when I came here to TH-cam and watched the score announcement, the responses of Coach Silvia, Kevin Aymoz, and John Zimmerman ( Silvia’s husband and co-coach) were absolutely PRICELESS‼️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💪🏼♥️🎉🥳😇😱

It was immediately obvious after his quad jump that the audience did not come to see him jump quad. They came for who he was and his performance. Leave the quads to others. And what the millions of viewers want to see are the dramatic emotions. That's why they a're watching. Ratings = $$$ !! That's the name of the game! He delivered the results with his engaging and artistic performance!
OMG. All the feels during the skate but then watching their reactions to the scores almost did me in! Kevin & Jason need their own awards. It's a shame that their programs are behind everyone else's when they're both far ahead in EVERY OTHER CATEGORY besides jumping.

Probably my favorite skater of all time, and some of the non-jump elements he pulls off are unmatched by anyone...like when he lifts one leg and leans back...that is SO hard to do, and it looks like nothing, but it's amazing. He always does that in the long programs. Great emotion, unique moves, choreography, and just Kevin! KICK ASS GOOD!
It sucks. I prefer the old scoring system. It was more human. And quad BS has just about killed the sport. That’s all Chen was about. He’s not memorable for me.
This should have medalled. I'm reminded of Yukari Nakano being robbed in 2008. The speed, the dynamic attack, the flawless jumps, incredible spins (I've NEVER seen the position he pulled in that last spin before). It was a champion's performance. Just flawless.
I agree. Yukari, not Costner, should have been on the podium. mao, yuna, and yukari.. But this wc's men's singles podium all had acceptable performances, so it can't be helped.
