Man, you had some intuitive mothers!! and I bet they cooked the best food too to give you the strength. Wish we had pix of you all when you were boys with your instruments when you had just started the journey you are on. Are there any pictures with you in your first performances or bands you started with?? I'm telling you - students, fans etc. would LOVE TO SEE THIS. YES, we really love you guys for developing yourselves through your lives & we know from listening to music of all kinds how much you have worked your hearts & energy continuously blood sweat & tears. How grateful you feel for the musicians that you loved/love maybe might have behooved you to be that yourselves but we are your loyal "awaiting more, reviewing what you already created" very grateful audience!! just like the older mainliner artists who hired you loved & were inspired by your new fresh ambition to love to learn & play for them. AND THANK GD FOR TH-cam SO WE CAN SEE YOU & that you have decided to make vinyl records also!!! we pray for your good health, protection & continuous success in achieving your dreams come true!! thank you thank you!!
All three of these cats inspire me to greater heights. This was a great interview and contained my favorite guitarist, drummer and bassist~ I will be buying the album for sure!
What an elegant way of selling products!! Forget about demos with unknown players! This idea of putting top of the top notch players performing on stock instruments and gear in a mockumentary is awesome.
Roderash, the cover is sensational, memories of all those gorgeous, fascinating posters in the late 60's. They deserve your adornment on their album. Love how it gives their performances a special "jewelry" artwork, framing the album...
Very cool video! Not only great to hear from the players but that sound engineer is a total pro. Looks like the guys made a great choice in picking Sweetwater as their recording venue.
Gretsch drum shells are great but I love the die-cast hoops. I had Gretsch drums but I used a Ludwig Black Beauty snare. I ordered a pair of Gretsch die-cast hoops and put those on it and it improved the sound noticeably.
I think I saw Vinnie play his yellow Gretsch kit at The Fox in Atlanta with Zappa in 1976. Even after Dunbar, Humphrey, Thompson and Bozzio, it was the moment/night I knew Vinnie was gonna be the new GOAT.
Funny - I saw Jing Chi at evidently one of their only live gigs at Yoshi's in Oakland! Great gig...I'll have to find the live album they recorded from those shows.
I saw you at Yoshi's, Robben, awesome set. I told you afterwards that I wondered which guitar you would use. You said that you did too! The Telecaster served you well. (Though I must admit, I was also hoping to hear that incredible Les Paul tone. But it was immensely satisfying anyway. ) Wish I'd seen Jing Chi, maybe next time.
Can't wait to hear the new LP.... great to see Jimmy playing the "right" way.... and Robben grab some distortion sometime.... Robben you need to check out Reynolds Amps next time in Australia....
wow. truly an amazing video. makes you respect these artists so much for the purity of their work and amazing dedication they put in. I haven't bought anything from Sweetwater in a while...but after watching this I'm reminded why they've been my go to when I've needed anything. Does anyone know what epiphone guitar model Robben was playing? nice to see something other than the usual brands in the hands of a master like Mr. Ford!
Vinnie with JB at Ronnie Scott's...there's a show...and GRHS, JB would be proud of how Vin, Tal and Jason carry on...Vin with none other than the best living guitarist (IMHO), Robben Ford .
I think VINNIE is wearing a really great pair of earphones - looks like they stay where you put them. Anyone know what EARPHONES THEY ARE? I think they might be really good for Robben.
@@sweetwatersound1043 LOL. now now. The Roland was featured ON CAMERA... because this video expertly shows the viewer great products of the sponsors and how on top of it Sweetwater is in terms of getting us what we need. (Please stop calling me to "check in" I already love you and order from you). The Dumble was mostly hidden... and that's ok. We know it's there. We know it would cost $100,000.00 to buy one. I like knowing that Robben has a fondness for the people behind Roland. That makes it more human. I love that Vinnie bonded with "Mr. and Mrs. Gretsch") I understand that these players are going to sound good. But I also understand that if they were recording at the Record Plant or Village, they would be using vintage Neumann, Shepps, Sennheiser... real rack mounted UA outboard compressors, maybe Massenberg... because of tradition. This video excels in showing us that you don't have to be fully traditional to get a great sound, and boy does this stuff sound great. This video also doesn't hide the fact that, whatever the gear, you need great ears... like your engineer Mark Hornsby has. This video is a "musical lesson," in how creativity is captured WELL. ...and again... I already love Sweetwater and buy regularly... so I don't need to be sold. Haha... I am glad new buyers will get a good vibe about Sweetwater from watching this. (reading the comments... it seems to be working!)
@@jensenbell I was thinking a lot of the same things except unlike the rest of you folks, I don't think this music sounds that great. Maybe its just how sparse it is, but it sounds like background music that characters talk over. It needs melodies. It's just not going anywhere. I agree about Sweetwater.
Interesting! Now I start to understand the resentment Albert King holds against Jimi Hendrix. He was an opening act for an opening act for Jimi Hendrix. I knew it!
so i found this looking for information on gear.....if this cd is released......marketing is horrible because how else would learn that this is out?!?...........lov the video thanks.....and im going to buy my cd copy now and mics :)
He's a leftie but plays a standard right-handed bass, but completely up-side-down. This probably means he couldn't find proper left handed basses when he started learning and it's too late to relearn now!
Elitist-1966-Custom-Riviera, same as this one: www.epiphone.com/Products/Archtop/Ltd-Ed-Elitist-1966-Custom-Riviera-Outfit.aspx. Robben's one is a vintage one indeed, but he is also playing a japan made model here and there ;-)
vinnie is so smooth, and never overplays, what a wonderful drummer/artist
Damn Vinnie has impeccable time, dynamics, and taste!
THAT........WAS........GREAT!!!
Thanks to Jing Chi and Sweetwater.

Best drummer and drums on the planet
No bias in your comment? (Even if I agree).
100% true!!!
3 of my favorite musicians, I've been following every one of their carrers since the late 70s. Great group.
All three of these cats inspire me to greater heights. This was a great interview and contained my favorite guitarist, drummer and bassist~ I will be buying the album for sure!

This trio is amazing. And Jimmy is nothing but finesse..!!
Wow! So happy to find this. I was privileged to help design the Supremo cover and package. Love watching their ideas a come to life
Roderash, the cover is sensational, memories of all those gorgeous, fascinating posters in the late 60's. They deserve your adornment on their album. Love how it gives their performances a special "jewelry" artwork, framing the album...
One of the best fusion bands of all time! Always inspired by their music!
3 gods playing the music we love. Previous album was amazing, and Vinnie, oh jesus christ ! Killer drummer on the Live version.
LOL from a Dumble to a Blues Cube - hilarious but still sounds like him - amazing as always.
We love music 🎶 too!
Thanks for bringing it's vital essence to us!
Long live Jing Chi!
This is all kinds of awesome!! What a fabulous lineup! I need the live album/dvd and the cd
This information is incredible, especially the Sound Engineer 👌🏿❤️
These are ALL top notch Musicians.
Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬 👊🏿
GREAT INTERVIEW AND CLIP!!!!!! THANKS SWEETWATERSOUND!!!
Very cool video! Not only great to hear from the players but that sound engineer is a total pro. Looks like the guys made a great choice in picking Sweetwater as their recording venue.
So happy to see these wonderful musicians, in my favorite studio ever.
Vinnie inspires me no end...
Wonderful Sweetwater. So informative and giving.
I like this project, very chill music.
Soooo glad to see them back together -- I'd love to see Jimmy With the Yellowjackets again though.
ON TOP OF THE WORLD MUST FEEL INCREDIBLE
Great musicians ! Cool , first time I see Vinny playing 'Matched Grip' !!
great ENG intel from Mark Hornsby on tracking techniques
Fabulous, Great band!!!
Gretsch drum shells are great but I love the die-cast hoops. I had Gretsch drums but I used a Ludwig Black Beauty snare. I ordered a pair of Gretsch die-cast hoops and put those on it and it improved the sound noticeably.
A wonderful blend of minds in all levels :)

Iconic...
Great video !!!
this is an epic vid!
Music4life right here great musicians
wow what a trio!
Awesome musicians and awesome video :-)
Respect: to the engineer/ producer he knows what he's talking about
"......This it it NO MATTER WHAT!!" 6:58 Vinnie C. Thanks Vinnie, Robben, Jimmy, Mark and Sweetwater!
Jin chi is amazing
The last piece with piano is the best shown in this video. These compositions need melody to be compelling. Those drums sound fantastic.
i loved this .... and ordered my cd on amazon........thing is i didnt even know it was out until i stumbled on this video on the making of
Great, thank you!
I saw you at Yoshi's, Robben, awesome set.

Amazing!!!
Hell yes! Been hoping for this for so long!
Vinnie like no other
I saw them in Oakland California, Amazing
Albert King Bluesbreakers and Hendrix on one bill!?! I was born ten years too late.
Roland & Robben on Blues Cube ? wOw !
very cool !!! Funny Robben talks Roland ...but records with the Dumble Overdrive Special ;-) loved the long interviews
So the actual Supremo release was recorded in Sweetwater??? Wow!
I’m familiar with all of these guys as individuals so why have I never heard of the band Jing Chi!? Well, down the rabbit 🐇 hole 🕳 I go.......
Brilliant video! Thanks 😁
That Epiphone is beautiful!!!
Can't wait to hear the new LP.... great to see Jimmy playing the "right" way.... and Robben grab some distortion sometime.... Robben you need to check out Reynolds Amps next time in Australia....
re Haslip: is holding it right side up? Maybe bc of the specific bass he is using here?
Vinnie playing matched for that Ringo feel. That last song is very Beatles.
Sometimes as time passes you always turn to the natural approach match

Vintage 66 or 67 Riviera with Gibson mini humbuckers
2:37 love that little drum fill
Vinnie with JB at Ronnie Scott's...there's a show...and GRHS, JB would be proud of how Vin, Tal and Jason carry on...Vin with none other than the best living guitarist (IMHO), Robben Ford .
The first 20 secs sound like the intro to "Flakes" by Frank Zappa, of which I think Vinnie played drums on
So does this mean there will be a new release coming soon from these great musicians? Wonderful video and SweetwaterSound looks very sweet indeed.
still love it!!
Vinnie is recording six more albums today, doesn’t have time to take his coat off 😂
Only Vinnie Colaiuta could get away with a self-comparison to Michelangelo.
Michelangelo would have needed a lot of stone to chisel out 'A Vinnie' in 2019.
How cool ! Robben Ford rockin' an Epiphone !
Probably vintage, they're where practically the same quality as Gibson as far as I've heard.
I think you are correct ,I looked closer and I think it's a Riviera.
Yeah...a new thing he picked up 25 years ago, or so....dude's been playing an Epi forever.
I've only seen him with Gibson's, I love sarcasm though.
Haha...I guess I was a bit, huh? ;)
Dang now I want a set of Gretsch drums.
I’m so obsessed with that Epiphone 😐😖
13:49 MY HEART
Robben & Jimmy go back 42 yrs
I think VINNIE is wearing a really great pair of earphones - looks like they stay where you put them. Anyone know what EARPHONES THEY ARE? I think they might be really good for Robben.
Thank you Sweetwater!!!
Wish Robben would have talked about the pedals he is using, as well as Jimmy showed the basses his playing
Sweetwater doesn't carry Roscoe basses. This is an advertisement for Sweetwater and the gear they sell.
INCREDIBLE SOUNDS! Wow
So how much did Robben use the Roland Blues Cube amp? I see him playing his Dumble.
Robben used both amps on the entire project, switching back and forth between them. The Roland was always miced up, off camera to Robben’s right side.

I'd like to know the cymbal setup. What a beautiful sound!!!!

Cool!
Ayy, the great man ford.
so Robben Ford actually uses a roland blues cube!!!
According to the room size in recording says he.
9:37 what snare is Vinnie using here? Is it some kind of chrome over brass? Is it really a gretsch instrument or even a ludwig or dunnett snaredrum?
Beatles anthology revisited if you can find it. Audio magic.
Great
I thought we were about to hear them play the Zappa tune "Flakes", anyone else get that vibe at the start of the video?
Lovely
Those rimshots around 20:45. 🥁
Great sound. The technique is cross-stick, not rimshot.
so i found this looking for information on gear.....if this cd is released......marketing is horrible because how else would learn that this is out?!?...........lov the video thanks.....and im going to buy my cd copy now and mics :)
Anybody know how Vinnie tunes his gretsch drums?
Nice band..
they try to advertise the roland blues cube but we all know he uses his dumble on this video.
Vinnie playing matched grip.
Are Mr. Haslip's basses strung upside down---G.D, A, E ?
He's a leftie but plays a standard right-handed bass, but completely up-side-down. This probably means he couldn't find proper left handed basses when he started learning and it's too late to relearn now!
that Epiphone looks lovely. What model is it?

What is that song started at 20:30?
3 giants
What kind of snare is Vinnie playing?
From the looks of it, it's an older Gretsch Bell Brass 6.5" x 14"
NameNaameNameeNaamee Cool! Thanks.
The actual sound on the video sounds better than the mix... A pitty..
Fucking great video
Im surprised Will Kennedy was asked. Or gary novak too
