PRECISION: This is How I Cut Wood Like a Pro using a circular saw jig

- This simple woodworking jig helps me to make very precise cuts with the circular saw. It is a very easy to make and to use DIY jig. I just have to align this circular saw jig with the cutting line to cut the wood exactly where we want it. Even, it is even easy to align if we have to cut the wood on the inside or outside of the cutting line. For example I can pre-cut the long wood strips with the jigsaw and then I can use use this cutting jig to precisely cut the pieces of wood to their final dimensions. I decided to make this circular saw jig years ago and you've surely seen me use it in my woodworking videos. Now in this woodworking remake I make a new version to use with my new disc saw.

I just use a speed square as a guide. Have for years. It’s fast and perfect cuts every time

I made one just like this, except it's 8' long. Great for making perfectly straight cuts on 4X8 sheets of plywood without struggling with it on a table saw.
I don't like cutting sheets of plywood on the table saw either 😀
I used a 10ft metal saw guide. Light weight too. Clamp it down and away you go. As long as it's straight and won't bend with force pushing up against it, your golden. Until I found my saw guide I used a bar, configured my clamps so it didn't roll, same idea. We will do anything for the perfect cut. Lol.

Aus meiner Sicht...zuviel Aufwand bis das Ganze eingerichtet und fixiert ist. Etliche Schraubzwingen verbaut und Ann nich die Arbeit mit dem zusammenbasteln dieser simplen sägeführung...aber ok...guten Rutsch !

For those saying speed square, when you cut with your speed square can you say for certain that you hold up a combination square and see 0 light coming through? The point of this video is for precision when you don't necessarily have a table saw, not for framing a house.

No creo puedas mantener precisión en el corte sólo con la mano sin sujetar con prensa la guía a la madera que cortas.
La utilizo así a menudo y consigo hacer cortes precisos. Sí que es verdad que tengo bastante práctica con la sierra circular
@@diyandwood Le creo. Pero no es un método vàlido para la mayoría. Las piezas a cortar con una sierra circular de mano han de estar firmenente sujetas.

Nice vid but the word precision goes out the window the minute I put my hands on a hand saw. My dad told me I was the only person he had seen that could create circular cuts with a chainsaw when sawing firewood. LOL

I debated saying anything, but he was showing us how to make a perfecly straight edge for guiding the power saw. If you find the jig useful you'll need a starting point. ✌️
Sometimes you don't want to deal with the noise and dust of the electric saw and decide to just cut with your handsaw
I use a hand saw a lot even though I have a table saw, miter saw, scroll saw and multiple circular saws.
Many times is just easier to grab a hand tool.
For some things, I can get much better precision with a pull saw than the power ones. At least without any set up.

Si. Pero lo bueno de este tipo de guías es que te marca con el borde de la misma por donde va a pasar el disco. Con la escuadra rápida es más difícil determinar eso. 😉

How slow is this fella. 1st why didn't you just use the slide guide that came with the saws,2nd if your after precision why glue a small bit of wood down to use as a guide, wouldn't it be safer to get a bigger bit of straight timber or a level and clamp it down.. you would be thrown of site mate.
