I remember trying to talk my Dad into buying one of these, actually any '70 Chrysler, when he was looking for a newer car in 1970..well he bought a '68 Impala 4 door hardtop. It did have a 396 V8. Thanks for posting Lou. God bless you!
Hi Heinrich, Happy to read this is a car you have not seen before. Glad to read you "Love it". Here is one more I think you'll enjoy, Lou th-cam.com/video/_mMXCMatcZk/w-d-xo.html
Did you know about another rare Chrysler - 1970 Chrysler Newport Cordoba, only 3,741 were made - not as sought after/interesting as this 300 I'm sure, but a good looking "fuselage" nevertheless. The only reason I ever knew of them is a neighbor traded a '67 Plymouth VIP for one back in 1970, I've never seen another one since.
Wow! Amazing fuselage Chrysler! I cannot fathom how this company built something so big with so little interior room - look at how big the hood and trunk are and how little the passenger compartment looks in comparison. Ah, the 1970's! Great video, Lou!
Lou, I remember this car, or one like it, was featured in Road Test magazine back in 1970. I thought it was really cool back then when I was 16. Now that I’m 70, I haven’t changed my mind. What a cool giant muscle car. Chrysler was king of styling back in these days, imo.
What a stunning, beautiful car! I was in high school when this came out and remember it well from the magazine articles. I’ve never seen one in person. I was never a fan of Chrysler fuselage look, except on the two doors. They had that massive trunk at the time when everybody was trying to do the short deck long hood look, and yes, Lou, those imperial seats look super comfy. I admire gentleman like this who take care of these cars rather than trying to turn them into something silly and modified. Thank you for finding this owner for us.
Man what a car! Just unreal how nice it is. Chrysler was knocking home runs in in the late 60's early 70's. The C bodies of this era are really under appreciated. The 300H takes it to the next level.
It has arrived, indeed! Both you and Mr. Hill are all smiles with this one, and rightfully so. What a fantastically rare, and strikingly beautiful car. What a great day and video! Thanks, Lou!
I had several friends who were Chrysler guys. Although I was a Ford guy, I developed an appreciation for Chryslers and Plymouths. In 1969, I went over to my friend's house, and he was looking through his mail. He got a postcard from the local Chrysler dealer that had a picture of the 70 Chrysler 300 on it. He showed it to me. It was impressive. There are a lot of things they did to cars to sport them up that I wouldn't do, but to those that like it, great. I have a hard time putting anything Oldsmobile on a Ford or Chrysler, but I like those hood locks better than the tie down pins most sported up, cars had. Good video!

All the Hurst cars I held near dear to my heart whether it was the Oldsmobile the Chrysler. They were just special I had a raised or I should say opportunity six years ago to meet Linda Vaughn in person. She was the original poster child for Hurst shifters stood on the back of whichever car she was representing. she is still gorgeous the stories she could tell about being around the old hot rodders grumpy Bill Jenkins and different ones. She was so pleasant and nice to talk to. I always regretted I didn’t ask her out to dinner. She was that nice but I’ll never know if she would’ve accepted my invitation or not, but I was thrilled for the opportunity to meet in person and actually talk to her❤
That is a rare one indeed. Those were high-dollar new. When new, I remember thinking they were great looking but they were soooo BIG!! Happy to see that his perseverance paid off.

I just went back & looked at David's 300 convertible. Both cars are stunning! It was interesting that the 300 has a console shifter and not the Hurst. I would have guessed either both or the other way around. Also, the 300 has 3 stop lamps per side where this one has two ... different tail lamps all together. Congrats to David on his "Unicorn!"
That's one gorgeous 300. If I had known back in the late 70's how rare they were I would have talked to the old lady who had one parked in her front yard.
Hi FUBAR Model Yard, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Glad this car brings back memories of the one you knew about. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Lou . . . I want you to KNOW that We really appreciate the way you video these cars. . . . How you Zoom in on the Dash and SLOWLY show the Switches, Speedometer, Radio, AC controls, Etc.. . . Its this attention to all the details make you The BEST . . . Thank you & Take Care. . . . 😊 Chris.
I remember seeing the Hurst 300 back in the 70's and early 80's. I also saw one with a 4speed that was cool. It had a console and really nice bucket seats. These are the gentlemen's hot rod! To me these are the best 300 ever made. Should of brought one instead of the 70 Dodge Challenger RT. 😂 Mr Hill enjoy driving your ride. I hope you win many trophies in the future. Thanks Lou for this video brought back better times! 🐻🇺🇸
I have always loved the Chrysler 300, no idea they made them as late as 1970. I once drove a "fuselage era" Plymouth and I have fond memories of the car. What a beautiful car.
Hi William, Happy to read you "I have always loved the Chrysler 300" :-) Glad to read this car brings back memories of the car you drove :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Very nice 300 (and yes, it was an 18 year run) - super rare and in great condition. It’s kind of wild when you think of a Hurst - Chrysler collaboration. It is certainly not common today to see an aftermarket supplier partner on a new car with and OEM. Thanks Lou and Dave for letting us see this classic.
Hi Jeff, Happy to read you enjoy this "rare" car in great condition :-) I think of Hust and Oldsmobile back then, however I like the looks of this collaboration. My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome, Lou
what a boat ride! so awesome to had a ride in what was luxury muscle. and those tanks could also move along pretty good. stay out of the secondaries and you would see the side of aprox 14-16 mpg. pretty much with the a/c off. got to love the v-twin air compressor. they took quiet a beating. at times if you used the air in trafic its like a race car.oh know were did 1/4 tank go! thats how good old carbureted points & conde nser and some decent compression works. those were the good old days as said. they acually pulled about 15-16 seconds in the 1/4 mile.
Although Im primarily a Ford guy, I must admit, the fuselage era Mopars are the most beautiful full size automobiles ever produced. Thanks for this ultra rare example...👍🏁

Beautiful car. My neighbor lady had one of these. If I remember correctly, it was white interior with console running all the way to back seat. She used to take us kids out to eat in it.

G'day Lou, What a gem of a car, saw one in the flesh years ago at a auction house here in Melbourne, Australia. Went up for auction & it was fully restored immaculate & documented & sold so so cheap, if only if David knew about it. Seeing one in the flesh is amazing the colour combo is eye popping. Great story Lou thank you for sharing. Cheers Louis Kats your number 1 Fan in Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 🇺🇸 👍
Amazing find had the fury and imperial of that year the turn signals were on the side on all there cars . The rear spoiler makes that car . One in a million great find .
I always liked the 1970 300H. I don't know if it can be called a muscle car because I always thought muscle cars were intermediate not full-size. The hidden headlights and overall styling of the car is great. Thanks, Lou!
I love that car, wish they would have spread them around more. All the 300 letter cars are special, but this one is definitely rare. Reminds me of my '69 Monaco, which was totaled, then the insurance money paid for my '70 Charger RT/SE. Thumbs up video Lou!
Hi Mark, Happy to read "I love that car" :-) Sad to read the end result of your Monaco :-( YEAH you got a 70 Charger! Appreciate the thumbs up on this video, Lou
One of my all time favorites. I remember some guy daily drove one in Sparks, Nevada back in the late 90's, it was often parked on Victorian ave, in front of the Rail City casino. My ride at the time was a 73 Dodge Charger coupe that I loved but that 300H... Anyway, thanks for another enjoyable video.
Beautiful car! Talk about a car for cruising and taking a trip. These big cars rode like a magic carpet. These cars would effortlessly cruise at 80 or faster and run 130+ on the top. My grandfather had a 1965 Chrysler 300. It was blue with a white interior and a console. There was chrome all in the interior. His had the 383 4bl but it ran very strong. It was a beautiful elegant car. His brother in law had a 1968 Chrysler New Yorker with the same motor that the car in this article has. Both he and grandpa had a heavy foot, especially on a long trip.

I always loved the Late 60s & Early 70s Chrysler & Plymouth "Land Yachts" . . . . I really wanted a "300" car but had to settle for a 1972 Chrysler New Yorker 😊 I enjoyed it

He's looked for one since 2005? Heck, I've been looking since the 80's! I did buy a 70 Newport convertible in '83 and then a 70 300 coupe parts car to swap the front bumper and grille, but still no luck getting a Hurst. They were few and far between 40 years ago and I can only imagine how hard they are to come by now.

That’s a great car! Never saw one before! Only problem I can see is the 25 year old Eagle STs. I replaced mine about 5 years ago not realizing how old they were. I’d say ten years is the max for a garaged classic car.

Hi, Lou! Yes, you got the math right, 18 years. That said, do you believe in unicorns? I think the feeling Dave had in finding this 300-Hurst was a lot like us here in Red Sox Nation in 2004, or your neck of the woods when the Cubs won in 2016! LOL! Anyway, it was definitely worth the wait, because this really is a beauty, and it definitely commands attention. According to Collectible Automobile magazine, October 2012, the 300-Hurst was announced in February 1970 at a price of $5,842, and gives Dave's number of 485 hardtops, one with a sunroof, and one convertible built, though some sources say 501 hardtops and possibly one or two other convertibles. Here's 300 thanks to you and Dave for spotlighting this very special Chrysler, and taking us all along in the biggest sports car ever made! (It only needs a football field! LOL!)
Hi iswc27, Happy to share the "biggest sports car ever made!" with you :-) Thanks for sharing your knowledge and research. Good news! Here is that Convertible for you to see. Enjoy! Lou th-cam.com/video/_mMXCMatcZk/w-d-xo.html
She's a beauty!! There's a black one exactly like this one abandoned in somebody's front yard (over 20 years) and it's rusted and deteriorated beyond restoration and I'm saddened every time I see it. It's good to see what one is supposed to look like.

Very Nice!, And brought back memories of my 1st Car, It was a 1970 Newport Custom 2 Door Hardtop with the 383! That Car was so great on Gas until I pulled the 2 Barrel and replaced it with a Holly 600 4 Barrel then good fuel mileage was gone but it sure performed much better! Lol, Drove that Car from Newburgh, Indiana to here in Baytown, Texas "Houston Metro Area" on $80 worth of Gas when I moved here in 1981!, Sold the Car in 1985 to an 18YO High School kid and he ended up wrecking it😢

Awesome Lou《☆》If your engine says TNT on the air filter you probably don't want to do much revving😁That turning Radius is like a B52 holding pattern eh👍🏾🍔🤳Sweet Ride with the H club endorsement✌🏼😎☯️
There was also a single 300H with the 426 Hemi, they built it for testing perhaps, never entered production. Very nice car, all the Fuselage C-bodis are beautiful and this 300H even more beautiful.

I love these land ships. Some 25 years ago I found one of these for sale on the side lot of a commercial strip in the suburbs of Seattle. It was exactly like this one, which the owner said was from Washington. This is possibly the same car I looked over. At the time I had no place to store it, and I passed on it. I need a drink.
i checked out some specs on that boeing 727,a freind in school had bought a gold 1969 300 with a 440 he had painted the car red and black and he put a thrush muffler on it and the car sounded like a airplane so i called it after a airplane name and it kind of stuck. so the specs are on the 69 300h areas follows aprox 4300 lbs,12-14.9 mpg without that a/c ill bet! and 15.4 sec in the 1/4 mile at 91 mph. thats one flying boat to boot! and nearly 140 top speed. they could have used it for police chase and scarred the hell out of someone. thats a 440 for ya!
Designed by Elwood Engel. Chrysler really should have continued the Chrysler 300 Letter Series, into the 1970s. This one would have been the 300-Q - but is easily distinguished as much as the 300 Letter series cars of 1955-1965. With the Hursy shifter and fiberglass hood, it is truly a unique car. I don't know why this car does not have the factory 4-speed stick with Hurst shifter like Olds and Pontiac did. Maybe the owner knows. This one has Torqueflite but it''s gone to the GM configuration and no more Exner push-buttons. Love the interior design layout the seats are fantastic and I love the paint scheme.

That's a gorgeous car! I once bought a 71 2dr fury that was rear ended and pretty much totalled. But the 440 commando with the 727 torque flite were immaculate. I used the engine/Trans on a 69 charger (general lee) style and had amazing fun with the charger. I always wanted to find a good condition 71 fury but funds were limited . Great video!❤

My favorite 300. He's right. These cars are out there, but they're usually a mess or come with a price that is over the moon. I had the opportunity to buy 1 in Indiana back in '00, but the car was all apart, the unique fiberglass parts were very warped, and the interior was destroyed by mice. I passed.

This truly is a Unicorn Lou. The side profile of it kinda reminds me of El Camino. Save the Wave.
Hi Peter, Happy to share this "Unicorn" with you :-) Lou
The 2-door fuselage bodies had unusually long trunks and did indeed look "El Camino-ish" from the side - Imperial, New Yorker, Newport.
@TomSnyder-gx5ru Nice to know that wasn't the only one who saw the El Caminoish look. I wonder how many bodies could be hidden in the trunk? :-)
Ah yes. The number of bodies is critical. lol
Unbelievable. What an era for all Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge products. Crazy- beautiful.

Christopher . . . Thank you for sharing what you appreciate in the videos and the kind words. That info helps me.
All I can say is WOW!
:-)
I love that car, always have.
NICE!
Hi Big Bear, Happy to read this car brings back memories of the car you remember :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
Hi Sandra, Happy to share this "boat ride" with you :-) ALL ABOARD! Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
Although Im primarily a Ford guy, I must admit, the fuselage era Mopars are the most beautiful full size automobiles ever produced.
Thanks for this ultra rare example...👍🏁

And yet another find in Lou's never never-ending quest to find hen's teeth 🤔 absolutely stunning!
Hi Terry, Happy to read "absolutely stunning!" :-) My pleasure sharing with you, Lou
Wow, he was so careful. He was very apprehensive to over rev it. You have to admire that. Big powerful Chrysler!
Regarding the "rev".....when you've waited this long to find your car, sometimes you just want to rock the baby :-)
Ig the engine was cold
Love that car
Happy to read "Love that car" :-)
Beautiful car. My neighbor lady had one of these. If I remember correctly, it was white interior with console running all the way to back seat. She used to take us kids out to eat in it.

Beautiful and elegant!
Nice :-)
G'day Lou,
What a gem of a car, saw one in the flesh years ago at a auction house here in Melbourne, Australia.
Went up for auction & it was fully restored immaculate & documented & sold so so cheap, if only if David knew about it.
Seeing one in the flesh is amazing the colour combo is eye popping.
Great story Lou thank you for sharing.
Cheers
Louis Kats your number 1 Fan in Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 🇺🇸 👍
Good day Louis, Happy to share this "gem" with you :-) Glad to share this "eye popping" car. Thank you for being my # 1 Fan in Australia. Cheers, Lou

Hi William, Happy to share this "Amazing find" with you :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hate big cars however this is a beauty ❤❤❤
Nice :-)
I always liked the 1970 300H. I don't know if it can be called a muscle car because I always thought muscle cars were intermediate not full-size. The hidden headlights and overall styling of the car is great. Thanks, Lou!
Hi Brian, Happy to read you always liked the 300H :-) Glad to be able to share this one with you. You're welcome, Lou
Great show, great car…Chrysler in its heyday.
Happy to read you enjoy this episode :-)
That huge engine bay can barely contain this 440 TNT.
Прекраснє авто! Два кольори - чудово! Дякую!
Hi Сергій, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Man that’s beautiful.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
One of my all time favorites. I remember some guy daily drove one in Sparks, Nevada back in the late 90's, it was often parked on Victorian ave, in front of the Rail City casino. My ride at the time was a 73 Dodge Charger coupe that I loved but that 300H... Anyway, thanks for another enjoyable video.
Hi 65283impala, Happy to read "One of my all time favorites" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Hi Lou, what a great looking car, i like all the letter Chryslers and the one that that guy has in the Hurst colours looks great.👍👍
Hi Philip, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you, Lou

@@loucostabile I also have a classic car channel based in Miami. You should check it out Lou👊
Hi Ati Kovi, Hope you're behind the wheel of the right car for you soon, Lou
My high school mechanics instructor had one back in 1980. I remember him replacing the AC compressor at one point.

Hi Keith, ALL ABOARD! :-) Lou
Style icon🤩🤩🤩
Nice :-)

Hi BDOG JR, "If your engine says TNT on the air filter you probably don't want to do much revving" BOOM! :-)

"I love these land ships." ALL ABOARD!
I’ve never heard of it. Cool car.

Hi Pat, Happy to read you're enjoying the videos :-) My pleasure sharing with you, Lou
i checked out some specs on that boeing 727,a freind in school had bought a gold 1969 300 with a 440 he had painted the car red and black and he put a thrush muffler on it and the car sounded like a airplane so i called it after a airplane name and it kind of stuck. so the specs are on the 69 300h areas follows aprox 4300 lbs,12-14.9 mpg without that a/c ill bet! and 15.4 sec in the 1/4 mile at 91 mph. thats one flying boat to boot! and nearly 140 top speed. they could have used it for police chase and scarred the hell out of someone. thats a 440 for ya!
Ahhh, the flying boat :-) NICE!
Only in the '70's could you combine a muscle car with a land yacht.
HI Tony, Thanks for viewing this "land yacht". ALL ABOARD! Lou
Hi Donald, Happy to read "Love the interior design layout the seats are fantastic and I love the paint scheme." :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
Lou, that is an amazing car. I love it. I wonder if a right side mirror was an option back then 👍
Rich, Happy to read "that is an amazing car. I love it" :-) Hmmm, not sure if the right side mirror is an option. Hoping a Viewer with knowledge can share, Lou
I have yet to see a hard top w/ one. I do know the convertible does have one.
Hmmm, the front & rear end designs have styling very similar to the first Gen Chargers 😅
Thank you for sharing what you notice.

I passed.
Hi Adam, Happy to read "My favorite 300." :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
