You, Colin Cowherd, have no values either. Jay Monahan must be fired! Rory Mcllory sided with the Saudi's too! He said that the Saudi's are, "one of the biggest sovereign wealth funds in the world." This is disgusting! Rory also said that "10 years down the line" the world will have forgotten about this. Never forget 9/11! A year ago, I wrote a letter to the PGA a year ago in support of them banning golfers who've betrayed our country to play for LIV golf. Now, the PGA supports genocide, LGBTQ hatred, and they've turned their backs on 9/11 survivors, and what does that say about our federal government that allows these kinds of mergers? It means what it's always meant. That money and power are more important than human life. This is a dark day in American history. It will get worse.

It's all about the PGA not wanting their financials opened up during the discovery phase of the lawsuit. That would have opened up a heck of an opportunity to challenge their "non-profit" status. The PGA flexed their nuts and got caught with their pants down.

Please read the fine print of this deal. Folks (including Colin) are largely missing the story. This transaction puts a Saudi state employee as Chairman of the PGA-DP World Tour merger. The Saudi Public Investment Fund also is the primary investor of this organization and has exclusive, first refusal rights to any investment made to the PGA Tour. Also, the Tour is going from a non-profit to a for-profit. The Story here isn't that LIV golfers got paid. The story is that the Saudi government just strong-armed the PGA into selling. Now, the Saudis effectively own all of professional golf outside the majors, and will funnel the gains away from charity and towards the Saudi government programs. That is a massive, massive development.

The 1976 merger was different in that the ABA was running out of money but the same basic premise where the ABA has a bunch of the best players including Dr. J. People “sell out” for various reasons but the truth is almost everyone has a price. That’s not even necessarily a negative, its how people make money.
David Bowie made several excellent critically acclaimed albums in the 70s that are still remembered to this day. Where did he make the most money? The 80s when he made more commercially acceptable music that has since been forgotten and partnered with Pepsi for a massive tour that was critically panned. It’s the same reason film directors make big-budget studio movies in between their more personal films. One pays for the ability to make the other happen.

The reality is LIV would start to slowly decline if they continued to host golf events with no WGR points. No new talent is looking to join LIV because their performances would essentially mean nothing and does nothing to further their career. And the veterans on LIV are losing their world ranking points. LIV has now merged with multiple tours including the PGA in order to have OWGR points associated with their tour, and they paid a boatload to do so. All that means is that players can qualify for a PGA event even if they play on the LIV tour. No different than any other tour associated with OWGR.

Love Colin's sports analysis. Sell out your values for money? Not loving it. Money comes first? Do values matter? Lying, cheating, betraying, taking positions that get innocent people killed. Hey, if you were offered 200 million don't tell me you wouldn't think about it... How far does this logic go Colin? Any boundaries? Or does the argument hold that: hey, for life-changing money you'd probably think about flushing your values. First time I've disagreed strongly with this program. Been watching it for a few years and have always found it smart, insightful and usually interesting. This time though, here's my take: US culture needs more talk about values, not less, and less focus on money, not more. The greed makes me want to (insert finger in mouth here). We're about the same age Colin. You don't see what totally self-absorbed selfishness and dishonesty and reckless greed have done to the previously honourable ethics of this country? Let's think of a new concept: ethical intelligence. Does it matter? If it doesn't, the final chapter for humankind will be quite the opposite of peace and prosperity. Sorry for moralising. It's not meant to be an exercise in self-righteous. I've got my flaws and deficiencies like everyone, but I'm smart enough to see that Americans who can't afford to gate themselves off are now drowning in a toxic society. Do values have any to do with it? I'll let you be the judge. Would love to hear an analysis on that...

In today age, it isnt individuals pushing for social change. Its corporations and sports. Kneeling at the national anthem, sports giving athletes a platform to speak of change. CEO donating millions to social causes, and companies virtue signaling (as gag inducting as it is sometimes). Golf has no high ground leg to stand on, sold out on morals and values.
