You should put frog tape over the area you are going to cut. I have started to do this and it really has made a dramatic improvement in the cut. Great video!
Good video, pretty wood! Here's a tip for you - drop the wax paper and switch to parchment paper. Much better and the glue doesn't bleed through. If you let the glue dry on the parchment paper you can save and reuse the paper. The glue just pops off.
@@letsbuildaguitar9230 I have some larger pieces of parchment paper I've been using for the last 3-4 years. Fantastic stuff, especially relative to wax paper.
Not to be that guy..... but using a hand plane and a shooting board is a much better approach. It reduces the amount of fall off, eliminates the chipping, and ensures a perfect seam. Also... sanding the matching surface is a terrible idea because it removes any matching angle you were using as a "perfect" seam. You should also join your plates before you glue to the maple carcass... So many things wrong with this video.
I appreciate your insight. Using a hand plane on the wood would have been disastrous. It was mush like a spalted wood in a lot of ways….those boards were very expensive and fairly brittle….but the desired look. I’m afraid they would not bode well with your method
Thanks Steve for the shout out, you’re far too kind!
Your clip was awesome!!’ I was thrilled to share it!

Yes you are correct….And I’ve even taught that in past videos😵💫. But I guess I let my guard down. Need those reminders!!! Appreciate the reminder!

@@difalkner Probably going to try it and share with others....I am always up for learning something new!
Ohhhh why did you hit me like that, "if you know you can do better, do better"

I hate seeing the seam on guitars down the middle. It always looks horrible no matter what the wood looks like.
