Wonderfully detailed and practical review. As a former owner of a Biotar from the 1960s, I enjoyed the history of the version as well as your numerous comparisons of old and new lens rendering. The new lens seems to share some characteristics with the Leica M 50/1.5 from the 1950s.
Thank you as well for recording this in English. I really appreciate that extra effort.

Thank you for this. I appreciate the effort you put into research, writing and doing the whole video in English. I learned a lot! I hope you will consider doing more English videos.

Delighted to have discovered your channel, Steffen. As a user of both Helios and CZJ Biotar lenses in various versions, your informative, thinking person's review has broadened my knowledge of such optics, as well as having added a fascination for this re-designed update.
Beyond this specific lens, you have the unique ability to transmit enthusiasm vocally without that unwelcome feeling of hype, rush, and annoying, grating speech patterns, thus resulting in compelling presentations that tread a perfect balance between art, technology, and optical history. One easily forgets English is your second language. While it entails extra effort on your part, I encourage you to produce English versions of your reviews, especially those relating to these new Meyer-Optik Görlitz versions of these classic film-era lenses.
Hut ab, from a new subscriber!
P.S. Thanks for the excellent mic technique as well, which makes your productions so much easier to enjoy.

Would you be willing to create an active playlist of all your English videos? This way I can follow just that playlist and never miss one, since they are so rare.

I plan on picking up both the 75mm and 50mm for Nikon.
    A Christmas gift to myself.

Great video, what’s Vollformat? What kind of crop is it?

    • @Analogfotografie
      @Analogfotografie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks ...sorry for the missing translation in the pictures ... Vollformat is the same as full frame (24 x 39 mm -> Kleinbild by Oskar Barnack)

@@Analogfotografie oh ok, thank you! I'm wondering how these wonderful lenses would look on a crop sensor (GH6) thank you for this video!

@@CabralCreates As always with vintage lens constructions you lose a bit of the characteristics as they are more pronounce in the outer part of the image circle. but you can see examples of images on a crop sensor at 19:13 in the video. I think the Biotar II is still great on a crop sensor...

@@Analogfotografie Thank u, this helps with the decision of buying a FF camera as my next cam, I'm thinking of getting the next gen Panasonic S1H, i love the Varicam looks that i can get with Panasonic and a vintage lens will definitely help to create very special looks.

@Analogfotografie I fail to understand fully Frank's petty comment about your use of a teleprompter. While watching your highly informative and professional delivery, it never occurred to me that you were using one. Maybe Frank is simply envious of your capabilities? Just saying. Anyway, thank you so much for your detailed and very interesting lecture about Biotar lenses, both old and new.
