Thanks for a properly unbiased review. I bought a sunburst version, exactly the same otherwise in 88/89. Had a little work done and it still genuinely plays better than my more recent, much more expensive axes. The wiring colours are mystifying but it works just fine, so I’m leaving it alone!
Love the video. Got one of these I bought from my cousin in 1994 for £50. Still going strong. Need to switch the tuners. Was looking online and came across this. Thanks !
I have a lot of these guitars & basses. Fabulous instruments, as good as any Fender, Gibson etc. I make & fix guitars & I'm not joking. Great to see them being respected at long last.
Sorry for the previous comment, Meat. A glitch in the matrix, I guess, for being too fast clicking on the notification. After watching the video, honestly that Hohner is a rare Black Beauty. I dig these lawsuit guitars, especially if they're so much better than what they try to be. A prized possession if I ever can get one. 👍 for this find!
I have got the LX250 . Cost me £65 inc p&p . Mines plywood , looks like a mouse has been nibbling the neck at the back . Maybe stored in a loft . Looking at the wiring ,there is a blue wire not connected , but it plays fine , any advice . Thanks Neal
I've just picked up one of these for £30. Not in as good nick as this one but still working - pots are a bit crackly, but half an hour with the soldering iron should sort that out! I just need to learn to play it better!
Hi Meat Manifesto. I got given one of these guitars from a family member a couple of months ago. It is exactly the same guitar in this video, however it was a reddish brown colour. I find this guitar to be absolutely excellent, I'd even go as far to say that it out classes my Gibson Les Paul Studio. I'm glad I've found someone else who thinks these guitars are brilliant. The neck is fast, the action is very low after a pro set up. It sounds more like a vintage Les Paul than a real les Paul does (if that makes sense) Anyways thanks for posting.
Lovely review of a cracking sounding guitar - have now got a lead on one myself - not as much a bargain as you managed but still can’t wait to get my paws on it! Great playing by the way - excuse my ignorance but what is the first tune you played? Cheers!
with that your Boss pedal and that DFX Marshall you're set for gigging on the cheap (jealous), all you need is a Bass player and someone to make banging and crashing noises behind you.
@@theguitarmanifesto That is always the issue, There are only three kinds of band members, one is the kind that always turns up but is useless, two is the great player that is unreliable and the last is the rare one that turns up on time and can play all his parts(very rare). and with Bass and Drums number three is like hens teeth.
This is why so gave up playing im bands in the first place, when I was trying to get the Oasis cover band together, the people I spoke just came across as useless mother fuckers. TH-cam only for me now 😂😂
@@theguitarmanifesto I know exactly what you're saying, that's why I just jam with a few friends I've known forever, no pressure just fun, and if the arthritis is playing up I can just stop, which has been happening more and more, but I keep pushing the limits.
Just found you while trying to research on google re the style of the tuners, to show you how fortunate you are,...check Ebay, there is one of the 'brown' versions going...!. Had one of these a few years ago,.... slimmed my collection down,....sorry sorry day it was when thus one went.
1987 my best friend and i got them for xmas as our first guitars, our poor auld ma's had to join 'the xmas club' and pay them monthly BEFORE you got to take them home! lol i got the les paul, he got the fretless bass, i ended up keeping both and using them to this day ... fuck all wrong with them.
@@graeme4074 Very nice Graeme, thank you. I met an old lad recently after he responded to an ad I had for a guitar clearout. He wanted a terrible 1970s Japanese Strat sort of thing 'something to do' and he told me he was dying. He spoke highly of Hohners and the quality of their build. I gave him the guitar saying I didn't need the money but I really did! Oh well. A mutual friend later told me that he is a fine player and also maker of good guitars. Not taking his money was the right thing to do and I was glad to have brought him a tiny bit of cheer in awful times for him.
@@graeme4074 Thank you. We had a jovial conversation and he only mentioned his illness in passing. Only a swine would have taken his money. I drove away hoping he had enjoyed our brief meeting. He seemed a jovial man and it was humbling.

That bridge pickup sound bloody lovely definitely buying one
Amazing condition for its' age. The pickups sound really warm on the neck which I like. Whoever buys this one is getting a fine guitar!
It's certainly a great budget guitar don't make like that anymore

Yeah they're awesome, I still see a few pop up cheap 👌

It looks and sounds great

That's a good price, just roll the pots up and down really quick that'll stop the crackling.
Bought mine in 1988.
I really don’t like Les Paul styled guitars but that is a sweet guitar for the price man. It’s really in great condition too.
Bro she is so clean for a millennial 😂👌
£60 for such a great guitar 😎

It's a very cool guitar, prices are now creeping up but still worth every penny.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it, it was give a little bit by Supertramp
I’m not into Les Pauls but that’s a nice one 🙂 especially for £60 can’t complain sounds brilliant
Yeah for £60 it's steal sounds as a Les Paul should
the neck pickup on this is better than my Gibson lp, its an almost Strat like neck tone.
Nice.

😂😂 I like your thinking there Pete I would be down with that but it's the other 2 required people that always cause issues 😂😂

That's the best way to do it, yeah I get that too it's a bummer pain killers can only go so far
still enjoying your Hohner?
What a great guitar, I'am flabbergasted at the low price for these, plays just aswell as real Gibson Les Paul.
I no longer own it, but it sure was a fine guitar 🎸👌💯
@@theguitarmanifesto how much did you sell it for?
I wouldn't go anything under $500

Ah nice and great you still have them, they're kick ass guitars play and sound great 🎸🤘😮🔥
I have one of these but doesn't have any serial number on it and I think it is older
This particular one I was pretty accurate with the age give or take a year
beautiful guitar i wish i had one les paul
Yes you need a Les Paul in your life
I bought one today, £110 with strap and case. £110. Squier Bullet Mustang for sale.
How are you finding it?
I still love mines(my avatar), the neck pick up is lovely and it rivals the Gibson Les Paul studio I have.
