😊😊😊very good video. I visited Las Vegas 565 times from 1965 to 2020. In 2021 I retired here. It is very different to live here . I have no desire to go any place else now that I live here
As a local of las Vegas for over 13 years now, Vegas has changed significantly since the Pandemic and unfortunately everyone that moved here from California have completely priced out of the housing market and rental market!!! Vegas has the highest insurance rates in the nation behind New York, New Jersey and Louisiana. The utilities have sky rocketed since the pandemic. The registration fees are rediculous!!! Vega$ have morphed itself into a suburb of LA!!! No longer affordable!!!! Good Luck!! :)-
Bitch us Californians out when u sell your house. Or when u have to sell grandma's house for your inheritance. I wish I had a scapegoat in commifornia when I lived there but I chose to leave instead of just stewing in my own juices. Don't worry, when I retired and brought all my $ money here, we did not bring THEIR politics.
I plan on moving out before year end. I cannot wait. Coming from Michigan, I’m definitely looking forward to a different lifestyle and the massive culture change
You are right - the homeless situation is terrible. You can not walk 100 feet on the strip without passing someone on hard times. 90% of the time, they do not accost you, or even ask for money beyond a sign, but there are the few occasions when something can set off a trigger effect with one, so you need to be attentive and be prepared to defend yourself. I always feel bad as I walk pass them and head into the casino to gamble. Especially if I drop a couple hundred on the session....(I always wind up thinking how that money I lost may have made a positive impact on them) I always give a few bucks to them as I pass them, but I have decided that on my next trip, when I have a winning gambling session, I will give 10% of my net to them. ($100 per person I encounter until the 10% winnings is gone) - I know it is not much, but it may help get them some food.
You have a good heart! I always want to help everyone as well. Recently gave a guy with a dog a power bar and a ball for his puppy. Small acts of kindness go a long way.
I would LOVE to live in Las Vegas. I've lived in Massachusetts my whole life, but I still hate the winters! I'm retired, single and own my own home, but I don't think I can afford to move there - as much as I'd like to. Good video. Very informative.
My first couple of times in Vegas, I was surprised how cold it got there. I remember a local's idea of a snowstorm was flurries or drizzle. I was laughing at that. I said try living in New England. We're number one in Nor'Easters lol.
Las Vegas resident from 1988-2004. I agree wth you on most of the cons. Although Las Vegas is still cheaper than Los Angeles, homes in the valley have gone up alot since the Calfornians have been moving there the past 2 decades. Used to be a pretty cheap place but not so much anymore. It will most likely continue to go up there.
Good luck to you Olga. I know of you via Johnnie's poker adventures. You are a natural in front of the camera. And YES...100 degrees in Las Vegas is not the same as other places.
I live in NY and while the weather used to be brutally cold here with lots of snow, but over the last 7-8 years, have maybe shoveled three times. None this year and it's 68 today, where it was 25 degrees the same time years ago. Las Vegas is a mess and while I used to fly out there yearly since 1995, I haven't been back since 2013. Resort fees, prices for everything, homeless, being badgered on the strip and more as it seems it has gotten worse since. A pro is Jaman Burton lives there. You forgot that. Great content Olga Vibrations!
Great video. I am considering moving to Summerlin area from Palm Beaches. Vegas is about of the flip side of south Florida. While I like it hot I am concerned the extreme heat along with the cold might be the dealbreaker. But I like Summerlin and the canyons.
I hear you about the heat. I always suggest visiting during the hottest part of the year for a week or so to see how you feel doing every day things. Same goes for the winter time also, even though, the Vegas cold is pretty mild compared to other parts of the country. We get a bit of rain during the winter months but also so many sunny days too. Hope you make it out to Summerlin!
I have been coming to Vegas for fun since 1963 i plan to be there again soon. If I were to move from Cal I could never come back becsuse of the cost. I have been to Vegas when it was snow white on the strip and over 115 degrees. I like the place better before the pandemic and labor strikes
One thing the wife and i have learned is food isnt as good here. You'd think the restaurant chains would be as good as in kaliforniastan but they aren't. We think its possibly the elevation. Your thoughts, ma'am?
I challenge transportation costs, gas might be cheaper but you use your car more. Utilities, the unit might be cheaper but you have to use them all year round. Entertainment is more expensive too, there are a lot more cheaper or free options in SoCal.
I live 100 miles from Vegas and have visited dozens of times. The traffic is horrible like all big cities and the traffic lights seem to take forever to change. Used to love going and playing there 20-30 years ago.
Property taxes are 0.6% which is not bad at all! It really depends when it comes to condo HOA’s. In my strip adjacent high rise condo the HOA payment is pricey but I get a lot in return: Concierge, Security, Multiple Gyms, Chauffeur Service, Pools, Hot Tubs, Car Charging, etc
As a Texan the Heat's about the same during the summer. But the cost in Vegas for everything has gone up tremendously in the last 10 years. Entertainment can be great but you're three examples are flawed. Celine Dion no longer performs Adele has canceled the rest of her concerts and the Michael Jackson show is being sued and may have to shut down. I'll stick with visiting once art twice or twice a year.
CONS Cost of Living has greatly increased leading to large homeless problems Rates in video were only compared to LA which is mid level Car Tires dry rot due to the heat Water levels are draining faster that Los Angeles Most Casinos charge for parking Traffic on the strip is horrendous More construction cones than in LA F1 is total BS to the locals Strip Prices are outrageous The strip is surrounded by the ghetto on most sides
Bad: - abysmal public education. - lack of professional careers. - high number of uninsured motorists. - poor public spaces, car-centric infrastructure.
Las Vegas is an awful place to live. Two months out of the year are ok and the rest requires a climate controlled environment. In the next few years it will become unlivable in the summer. My utilities are over $1000 a month on a modest house.
Yeah Olga, think you need to do some more research on how to do a correct comparison. The cost of living in Vegas has skyrockets from very high utility (cable, internet, gas, electric) bills, DMV costs, Insurance costs, food costs, and the over-priced restaurants with so so to crappy food and service. People are moving from Cali to Vegas because Cali now is a total sh*thole NOT because Vegas is a great place to live. The ONLY good things about Vegas is there is NO state tax and lower gasoline prices.
yeah cali people had no other options really but to go but with other major cities becoming crazy high priced and high crime maybe cali is about the same at least in the near future maybe a return for those peple back to cali or new people go to cali? right now miami is worse then cali when you take cost of living vs wage levels plus lack of english in most of the county aprtments are only a few hundred more and in some case exactly the same as south fl and you make 6 dollars or more in cali then fl so no cali is not the hardest state right now fl is ok yeah maybe san fran is out of the picture but la county among other areas of CA you can find some places about the same as the same type or areas here in fl but make way more
@@strongmanconqueror1894 Your response does have some correct statement but it's all over the place. Try to stay focused on the exact things I listed in my first response and not state a few exceptions that you can find all over the country. Do you generally agree with my first response about Vegas and Cali?
Your water is very low quality and your kidneys will suffer the consequences. You have a military Air Force base just on the other side of lake mead. Who knows what’s in your drinking water. Another is that you have become a high crime city and very dangerous. You attract both good and bad people. One huge issue will be water in the near future. What happens if your town goes dry? The thing about this town is you’re a desert and all the sunshine is great but other than that you have crazy people, homeless everywhere, crime is everywhere, remember they go after people with valuables. So at this point and time I would rather live where water is abundant. When things go wrong they don’t happen at a slow pace it happens quickly. The once security place to live is now threatened by no water. Nothing lasts forever.
I'm looking for a safe affordable part of Vegas where job opportunities are great at least good able to get Around without a car,,,, where should I look,,,???
Vegas is not known to be a walkable metro. There are a few places that match your criteria of job opportunities and walkability. Most notably is downtown (arts district going north until you hit freemont). The other option is living near a place like Downtown Summerlin or Tivoli Village. There's a few communities and apartment complexes bordering these areas so you could likely live, work, gym, grocery shop all within a walkable distance. You looking to move from out of state or do you have any experience with residential Vegas?

Olga, you're better than any professional so I subscribed!
One con from another video mentioned that it is too windy. Enjoyed your video.
Vegas does get insanely windy! I agree but it's not a regular occurence I would say.

Nevada only uses 4% of that water. Arizona and California are gonna have to make some changes. Primarily California

All these people hating on Californians….like they wouldn’t move if their rent went up to 4 grand a month.
Good luck to you Olga. I know of you via Johnnie's poker adventures. You are a natural in front of the camera. And YES...100 degrees in Las Vegas is not the same as other places.
Las Vegas has turned into a sports arena
All the good entertainers are too old.
In my humble opinion they developed the best places in one of the most challenging locations.

The amount of money they spend building those fancy casinos they could afford to build Homeless shelters and Affordable housing.

Good video. In case anyone is interested, the actual name of the "Las Vegas Airport" is Harry Reid International Airport.
Thanks! Yes, they changed it from McCarran a few years ago!
@@LasVegasOlgaMoreno The McCarran sign is still outside. I wonder when they plan on changing the sign?

I live 100 miles from Vegas and have visited dozens of times. The traffic is horrible like all big cities and the traffic lights seem to take forever to change. Used to love going and playing there 20-30 years ago.
The traffic due to construction has been especially horrible this past year.

You can't compare any State to California a person needs to make over $100,000 a year in California to not be living in poverty
Same as Hawaii? NY?
CONS
Cost of Living has greatly increased leading to large homeless problems

Car Tires dry rot due to the heat
Water levels are draining faster that Los Angeles
Most Casinos charge for parking
Traffic on the strip is horrendous
