I saw this when I was a young teen and enjoyed the forbidden humor a bit more than I normally would have, mostly because my mom wouldn't have wanted me watching it.😜🤣
@@M167A1 Not sure what you are comparing it to but I did not say it was bad at all. It is just a product of the time in which it was made. It could not be made today that is for sure.
Same for me. I remember at the end Dr. Skridlow (Ha! Rhymes w/ Skid Row!) married Fran's character, but in real life Aykroyd married another co-star, Donna Dixon, and they're still married today.
0:09- Oh no, you're not selling me dangerous products again. 0:21- Timeless. 0:34- Bold statement after the Cheech and Chong movie Still Smokin (1983) was released around the same time. 1:51- Well, I wanna manage some hookers now, AND dance. 2:18- He does a fantastic impression of a trailer for a 1960s Jerry Lewis movie.
That's what made them so endearing. Movies these days.... meh. So slick and formulaic. How many other movies have you seen where a nerd becomes a semi-robotic chiropractor pimp in order to save four hookers from a fat megalomaniacal grandma who runs a limo business on the side?
OMG I remember this on cable in heavy rotation when I was a kid....now I want to watch it again, just to see how politically incorrect & "cancelled" it would be in 2022, LOL!
Rest In Peace Howard Hessmann, You were a great actor.
Boom mic in the frame was a nice touch.
Gee, if this was the trailer, no wonder it didn't do well in the box office. This is a classic movie long remembered.
@dalelerette206 not sure how that applies to Dr. Detroit?
I really wanted the sequel
The first of 3 films for Aykroyd, that year and his first as top biller.
Definite gem.
So funny.
#40yearsago💎🎞
Worth it just for the Devo main theme.
devo’s theme for this movie is so good it should be illegal. i find that weird synth-guitar solo stuck in my head all the time
For me it was one of their worst tracks, every other Devo track is better than this

Drugs, and 80s excess over substance made this a thing. What a time to be alive lol.
Better than today's painful melodrama

Million drug zombies in street no funi
This is one of my favorite of his films.
It's almost like if you took the "Fred Garvin Male Prostitute" sketch from SNL and built a movie around it.
*"that you aren't putting cheap little cartridges into cheap video players"*
_"haha it's on dvd now*_
Ray before he became a ghostbuster
🤣🤣🤣
In this movie he was a Broad Buster! 😂
In the comics Ray even dresses like him in one issue.
This is how I was introduced to Fran Dresher
Same for me. I remember at the end Dr. Skridlow (Ha! Rhymes w/ Skid Row!) married Fran's character, but in real life Aykroyd married another co-star, Donna Dixon, and they're still married today.
Check out Hollywood Knights then!!!!!👍😁
Yea you need to see “Hollywood Knights.” And it even has a young Michelle Pfeiffer in I think her first movie.
Dan with the goofy Dr Zhivago gap-tooth and moustache is really adorable but then again I think Dan is so cute in general.
its a nod to Omar Sharif
One of Dan Ackroyd's favorite movies, mostly because he met his wife Donna Dixon while filming it.
This giving me trading places vibes
Why do I feel like that last line explains everything?
This is why Dan Akroyd shouldn't do cocaine
No, this is exactly why Dan Aykroyd should do MORE cocaine.
Why
VERY UNDER RATED MOVIE
Fran Drescher for the win!
wicked james brown!
Why does this remind me of Austin Powers? It's like maybe Austin Powers was inspired by this movie.🤔
I can def see that.
One this movie classic
My shizzzznyeeeezi 💪🏾😂😂😂
Open gate, guys
Alguém tem esse filme dublado?
Managing @russ book?
Oh, Cweefu!
Only here for devo!
"I don't do Dan Akroyd." - Cocaine.
Who's here from Midnight's Edge? lol
Yep 😂

I guess Mom dislike this trailer hahaha
As of now Mom and 6 of her bald cronies have disliked this trailer.

Remember how bad movies used to be
But still awesome.... :-)

@@napalm3899 - - best movie synopsis ever written lol.
Bad as in good fun. I love 80's movies
Cult classic film
OMG I remember this on cable in heavy rotation when I was a kid....now I want to watch it again, just to see how politically incorrect & "cancelled" it would be in 2022, LOL!
Love Dan but this was garbage 😂
This looks bad...
It is. I saw this as a kid and even back then knew it was utter trash. Makes Trading Places look like Blazing Saddles.
Not as funny as 'The Blues Brothers', not as strange as 'Neighbors', not as wild as 'Spies Like Us.'
Yeah, Doctor Detroit was kind of just in limbo. One for the resume, but not great. Actually some good lines, for a mediocre movie though.
A funny movie that was fun.
Ehh s'fuckin 80s
