We have as well, but the past few years we no longer build in as many snow days into our schedule, so we have to make things up. And we're only allowed a certain number of hours of AMI/virtual days as well. So it could get dicey!
@ Virginia has so many days built in. I taught before virtual, so that was not a factor. Depending on the number of make up days we added to the school day, which was never taken back out. The Governor usually would forgiven making up extra days if we went over a certain number. We have lost various holidays and breaks. They rarely touched spring break because many families had tickets various to world locations (we had a lot of foreign students who returned to their home countries then. 100 countries represented). The worst was losing Memorial Day.
@ Virginia, for a long time, had the Kings Dominion rule/law. Kings Dominion is a large amusement park outside of Richmond. Colleges started around mid August and to keep the park open until after Labor Day they needed the high school students. Therefore, schools couldn’t start until after Labor Day. We would get out about the 3rd week in June. I understand that rule/law no longer applies because they are now in school before Labor Day . I have been retired 20 years this spring.
@@dmbalsam We have a rule regarding when we can start as well, due to the State Fair, but thankfully it still allows us to get out before Memorial Day.

I had some years where January or February were full of snow days and delayed openings.

My illustrator friend has a new book: Perfect. Forget the author, illustrator is Yuko Jones. Her Father-in-law was my husbands college roommates.
