Not sure if took direct influence, if anything pathfinder is in a way spiritual successor to dnd 3.5 Eberron setting. Nex vs geb is pretty much Karnath vs Cyre during the war. Karnath a nation of undead soldiers vs cyre a nation of alchemists and forgemasters who created the Warforged. As a fan of Mr. Welch’s channel, I can’t help but draw a comparison between the Duchy of Alkenstar and the Grand Duchy of Karamekos. I love this setting, Eberron was my favorite of the DND settings, and it’s fun to see another setting embrace the post-industrial revolution fantasy world idea. If I had any complaints about Alkenstar, I would use GM fiat to change the religion. Since Alkenstar draws on Victorian England and the American Wild West in terms of theme, it makes more sense to me that they’d be like Magnimar and worship the Empyreal Lords rather than traditional pantheons’ gods. I’m doing the same thing in a similar fantasy world I’m designing (because I have a serious addiction to worldbuilding).
I wonder what role Alkenstar (and all of the Impossible Lands) will play in the War of Immortals. Is war going to break out between Nex and Geb? On whose side is Alkenstar on? Nex? Geb? Or are they neutral? Or are they going to war as their own faction? I can‘t wait for the next years of Pathfinder lore. Thank you very much for your Videos. I enjoy them very much.

Early in the video, you tell us that you're skipping some of the lore... but this video is still almost 1.5 hours long for just covering 3 areas! Can't wait to hear it 😅
I did! Geb, Nex and Alkenstar are all examples of cultures so unique that you can skip a deep coverage of history and still have a couple hours of content just on cultural stuff.
I'm GMing outlaws of alkenstar at the moment and this video has been so helpful in filling in the lore gaps that aren't covered by the AP, thanks so much for making it! I was wondering, I bought the impossible lands sourcebook as a written reference but I can't seem to find any mention of the undercity in there, do you remember where you got that info from? I'd love to work it into my campaign if I can find out more about it! :)
Its described in the 1E Standalone Pathfinder Module "Wardens of the Reborn Forge" but full disclosure, there isn't that much detail provided, just kind of a short paragraph. This is pretty typical, as 1E didn't have as much supporting content on Alkenstar as 2E does. I'm not sure if the decision not to include the undercity was an active attempt to retcon something, or more likely, it was just hard to pull together all the disparate Impossible Lands sources from 1E when they made the new guide, and some stuff got lost in the shuffle.
A really good detailed video. What is the role of the clock work wizards (like Klarkosh given in the Emerald Spire), in Alkenstar ? or does the lore keep these sorts of wizards divorced from Alkenstar ?
This one is fairly easy - clockwork artificers and wizards serve the role of maintaining the cities various clockwork constructs. Not everyone with these abilities works in one of the clockwork guilds though. Clockworks are so common here there are many 'hobbyists' I suppose, who dabble in this kind of work, but its not their primary profession.
While I really appreciate the time and effort that has gone into this video, one thing has really bothered me. Why did you refer to High King Arunak ad High Queen? I'm not sure if you thought it was a mistake but the multiple times she's referred to as High King says to me that it was an intentional choice.
My apologies if I've caused offense. It had to do with my own editing process on the script (I thought I was correcting my own mistake). By the time I realized I had the title wrong throughout this video was already recorded and edited.
Mechanically, I don't think Monks are affected at all by the wild-magic zones of the Manawastes. In 1E terms anything that is an (SU) or Supernatural ability functions as normal. Anything that is an (SP) or Spell-Like Ability would malfunction. Most monk abilities are classed as "SU" abilities IIRC. Some rare monk abilities (like the one that grants Dimension Door as a spell-like ability) however functions as an actual spell and would get disrupted. Ultimately, the more correct answer is - whatever your GM says.
Judging by how the alkenstar people strive for personal achievement, they would probably view feats of "skill" performed by a monk as something to be praised.
Could you do dark elves next! They are my favorite fantasy race and I can't seem to find any lore videos on pathfinder dark elves! Love the work keep up the amazing videos!
in the recent Remaster and license changes, some stuff from Golarion that are too tied or unchanged from D&D need to be removed. The most prominent one is drows. Drows are completely removed from the setting. They only exists as ancient elven myths, that now are trully only myths. The explanation about the previous drow sightings in published adventure and books are that they are a cover up done by the Pathfinder Society to hide sekmin (serpentfolk) activity in the Darklands. This has backfired as years of unchecked activity has lead the sekmins to gain advancement that is detrimental to surface dwellers. This has lead to the cover up being lifted to some and the knowledge of this fact being spread slowly. Though there is still some underground elves, the Ayindellar elves, which usually would be cavern elves heritage-wise. They've only been recently been introduced and has not yet receive much worldbuilding information. They are not related lorewise or aesthetically at all to the drow.

I think they could learn a lot from Androffan technology, particularly regarding electronics, circuitry and physical engineering. I even think they could eventually figure out how their operating systems work and in turn how to write code for their machines. What I don't think they'd be able to figure out is how those operating systems were developed in the first place. Modern tech is systems, on systems, on systems, nested so many layers deep that they'd be on the wrong track from the start, trying to interpret machine code rather than understanding the intermediary layers. In short, they'd acquire some level of understanding, but they wouldn't be able to build robots of their own without substantial work. My 2 cents...
Small correction, but I believe the Great Maw of Rovagug is still located within the Gunworks, being the second largest bombardment in Golarion. Looking at the world guide, it seems the Gorilla King tole the largest bombardment (Unnamed??) when he attacked.
Huh... I think you may be right here. The verbiage in the book is a little confusing, but yes on second look it looks as though the Great Maw is still in the Gunworks and it was a different bigger cannon that the Gorilla King stole...
