  • Router Table Insert With Rise and Fall Mechanismt
I have utilised an old Hitachi M12 1/2" router for a router table insert. This is my best router table rise and fall to date.
Just use a impact driver for a rapid rise and fall with micro adjustment.

Thank you Sir! Of the many lifting mechanisms I have seen, this one is simple yet extremely effective, wish I could like it 1000 times. Keep it up! And thanks for sharing.

Excellent job. Just found your channel. Used same router and did same thing a few years ago. I've used the fence system from my previous router table. Vacuum extraction, NVR switch and power feed are three worthwhile additions which I over time added to my bench. Great channel.

Could you do a more in-depth video on the lift mechanism. You seemed to go over it real quick. I have that same router and I have a problem with sawdust getting packed in the two rods that allow the router to plunge up and down. It is always problematic to get it out and get it to plunge smoothly again. Thanks for sharing

First. The threaded bar, I drilled through the base of the router. This is an old model I had lying around for a while. I used a threaded insert to drive the rise and fall position.
I used threaded bar as it is easy to replace should I need to.
As for dust, do you use any form of dust collection?
I have a video showing how set up an improved dust extraction.

Crooks thanks for the prompt reply. I do use dust collection built into my fence. The opening is adjustable to increase the suction. The table usually stays pretty clean but dust still ends up on the floor. I should look into that smooth interior hose setup you have. Another pet peeve I have with the M12V in the router table is the two wings to attach the collets. They always seem to get in the way of the wrench and make changing bits cumbersome depending on the size and what elevation it is at.
Thanks again for sharing and the response

Thanks for your video! I have the exact same router and want to add the rise and fall mechanism. Could you please further explain the components? Looks like you remove the old threaded rod, drill hole larger in router base to accept a new rod with lock nut and washer . But it looks like you use a bearing of some sort? I would really appreciate further explanation. Thank you

Hey James. Glad you liked the content.
You have described the process correctly.
I will produce a new video to show in detail the rise and fall mechanism, with some links to buy the components.
