Random Black screen when using Samsung J3... solution confirmed. 16 October 2020. If one is getting Black Screen, after opening certain apps, and there seems to be no real pattern to these events, as was happening to me with whatsapp, facecrook, youtube etc., it was discovered that due to a recent android os update, the issue is being caused by the 'Proximity Sensor' on the J3, and its being covered by my finger or palm, when starting these apps, in landscape, such that the proximity sensor was being triggered. The proximity sensor should only be triggered when you are using the phone at your ear, so that your ear does not trigger events on the phone unintentionally, but in the android update applied on 13th october 2020, a bug in the update has the proximity sensor being turned on for many apps such that the app will appear to open momentarily and then the screen goes black, and even then if you uncover the proximity sensor, the screen will not reactivate. After perhaps 10 hours searching for solution online, this bug was discovered by myself accidentslly. So, just make sure that when opening an app, that the proximity sensor is not covered, and after the app starts, then you may revert to landscape orientation, and the proximity sensor then does not deactivate the screen. Shame that users now have to test the software for the impoverished multinational IT companies, but it is not as if users are dependant upon their devices for their employment / bussiness / other critical purposes now is it?
Okay so I accidentally activated this myself somehow and searched this up to figure out how to activate it since my friend has the same phone. So I could mess with them.
su amigo alex i have the same problem with my samsung j3 it has been inactive for 3 months ive tried the totoriouls but whenever i pressed the power down button and the power button nothing would work i have a laptop a HP chromebook but i dont know how to connect that usb thing you use to connect to your laptop to your phone any advice?

idk what happened to mine when it does turn on i can see it but the screen glitches out and turns black it also has lines on the screen when it does successfully turn on but it keeps glitching when i start it up i have a Samsung J7 Prime
Yes this is a trial and error solution, after this video the phone went back to black screen and u can hear the phone alarms and stuff, I tried it several times, even try to press the screen to try to make contact with the screen.

You have to keep trying, let the phone battery die, and fully charge it and try again, its a hit or miss thing

Hi, I used the usb cable that came with the phone, but you will need a Windows or Mac computer with a full OS.

If you can still send it for warranty will be great, this is definitely a common on the J7's
