Fight Club probably opened my eyes more than I understood then. In two hours, I learned so much about how people project what they think they are, but it all being bs. Same goes for companies. If we're honest, most people don't know what they're doing themselves, because your mind can play the best tricks on you. Everybody has issues, big or small, but most people don't or don't want to show them. So cue the Pixies, show some scenes from Fight Club and I'm getting goosebumps, like I'm having right now.
In a way tyler is actually kind of the hero of the story. It's an exploration of nihilism, and the real villians are the people whose lives are so hollow that they'll unflinchingly follow anyone who can give them purpose. Which is what ends up enabling all the atrocities. tyler was created by the narrator whom tyler's very existence comes at the expense of. So that makes the narrator god. so tyler's existence being something of a curse he rejects external meaning tries to "kill god" then creates a meaning all his own and has fun while doing it. Which makes him the uber mensch. I guess if i had to pin it down the moral would be to be like tyler, but not hold his or anyones ideals over your own and definitely not to follow people like tyler

What an absolutely brilliant movie! I love the irony of how "Tyler Durden" as a character has become a role model to young lost/confused men. So many layers to this movie and the majority of people still dont understand the true message. To all the young boys out there, the key is in choosing Marla over Tyler. Tyler will literally destroy your entire life and world.
Facts, people who take this movie/book the wrong way can be dangerous. The point was to steer men away from the toxic cycle not willingly enter into the secret fight club😂 it’s a metaphor
Nah. More like you missed it. The 'message' is to find a balance between the two. Men who completely submit to the feminine are unfulfilled and have no meaning in their lives. The other end of the spectrum is destructive too. Obviously.
I think it's complicated. Tyler gave the narrator's life purpose. Obviously going through all the deindividualization to become a mindless soldier is way too far, but it was Tyler that drove the narrator to find meaning in life. Without Tyler, the narrator would still be obsessing over his apartment and having sleepless nights for his unfilfilling life. Tyler made him appreciate his mortality, want to live, and want to pursue Marla. I feel like the narrator beats Tyler in the end by overcoming him and not needing him anymore. Tyler was an extreme reaction to the situation the narrator was in, and after overcoming and learning from Tyler, he narrator is better off in the end... But I guess what I'm ultimately saying is that pursuing Marla over commiting terrorism was definitely the right choice lol. Tbh though pursuing a relationship isn't the answer to a person's problems. They need to find a tribe, find an outlet, and become an individual, like the narrator did. Rant over. Sorry lol. Obviously people shouldn't idealise Tyler Durdan but I understand why they do.
