That Kings vs Blackhawks conference final was really one for the ages. It was just two titans at the height of their powers throwing everything they had at one another.
As a neutral observer (Leafs fan unfortunately) Watching those western conference series around this time frame was some of the best hockey. So many good teams. Kings, Ducks, Sharks, Canucks, Hawks, Blues
@@Trystan91yeh after seeing these matchup and what guys need to bring to the ice, I don’t see my Leafs winning anything anytime soon😢. Just destined to enjoy regular season that’s it
The Chicago Blackhawks and LA Kings match ups were the two best playoff series I’ve watched. They just had winners on both sides. It’s sad we only got two matches but they are both 1-1
The 1st match up LA was banged up playing the first 2 rounds against bruiser teams. Chicago basically coasted. The 2nd match up LA and Chicago went full force. Full roster against roster. Almost had another match up, but Chicago got upset in the 2nd round that year.. I would've given anything to see them go head to head again.
The la kings had one of the two best runs of all time 2012 being an 8th seed and Jonathan quick being an animal in that run and 2014 going through the games sevens and coming back 3-0 and beating off the sharks ducks Blackhawks and rangers
@@anthonybignotti3503three straight? I remember 19 year old me being like ‘not like this’ when the kings went down 3-0 in the series. I was excited when we came back, but had no idea they’d go on to win the cup.
2010-2015 to me is the glory years of the NHL. The Kings and Blackhawks and Bruins and so many other teams who put incredible talent and effort to win was just extra special. Some people prefer the Penguins, Red Wings and Avalanche years before, but not me.
The 2013-14 season is when I first got into hockey because I bought an NHL game in November of 13. Being from Ohio of course my team is Columbus. And seeing them get their first playoff win that season made me even more a fan of the sport. However I couldn't stop watching after they lost. I remember watching game 5 and staying up soooo late even though I had work the next day. It was one of the most exciting moments I had ever witnessed. I felt bad for Lundqvist because he had become one of my favorite goalies but I hated the Rangers. Seeing LA win that just continued to spark my love for the sport and I still rewatch that moment today.
There are only two videos in my entire DVD (yes, I'm old, I still have DVDs) collection that make me tear up. The 1980 U.S.A. team winning the gold medal against the USSR and Finland and the Kings winning the 2014 Stanley Cup. GKG!
I remember that game 7 against the Hawks. I fully expected the Kings to lose. I thought they were slightly better than us. Maybe they were.. but we had more heart. I do not think we would have won that series if we hadn't lost to them the year before. That entire series was simply AMAZING.
Yeah and it’s something you see a lot. The recent cup teams like Tampa, St. Louis, Washington, Pittsburgh- They pretty much all went through MULTIPLE playoff heartbreaks before getting over the hump. I’m a Blues fan and man, for so long getting by the 1st round felt like the cup itself. And it first happened against the team that notoriously took us out- Chicago. That 2016 run we had that confidence and ran with it until game 6 of the WCF. Then we had a few setbacks like the 2nd round loss against the western conference finalist Nashville Predators, then the next year we miss the playoffs on the last game of the season. Next year, we won it all.
Go back and watch two plays that prove your point. The year before in OT Voynov looks to give up on Kane's OT winner. Fast forward a year and Voynov gives that extra umph and breaks up Saad's breakaway chance in OT. To me, the difference between winning and losing. GKG
This is one of my fav cup runs ever. Down 3-0 in the first round and became the 4th team to overcome that deficit in NHL history. Defeated both California rivals, the defending cup Stanley Cup champions, 3 game 7 road wins, 3 overtime wins at home in the SCF including the game winner at home. What a playoff year !
That years game 7 vrs the Blackhawks was the best hockey game I have ever watched and both of those series they played in 13 and 14 were probably the best series I have watched. I never thought I would say this until the kings and blackhawks did have those amazing series, but the 1996 and 1997 Colorado avalanche and Detroit red wings series are a very close second as the best hockey series I have ever watched.
Ya know, watching this now, I was graduating high school hoping and praying the hawks could bring home another cup to make that summer one to dream of. However, as just a general hockey fan, I was rooting the kings to win that cup after the ‘14 series. Definitely a series I’d love to watch over again.
I mean in reality the rangers don't get there. A montreal team with an AHL goalie took the rangers to 6, kreider's bullshit tactics got the rangers to a final that year and ironically ever since he stopped kicking goalies the rangers stopped going far. This run this year more a product of playing a pens team with half their team missing and a carolina team that's incapable of winning on the road, takes rangers getting massively lucky to go anywhere and even then they can't win. 4 cups in 96 years lmao
Kings and blackhawks 2 of the best goal horns in the league! I’m a kings fan but I think Chicago is #1 for their horn. It’s just so great! But I absolutely love our kings horn as well
Thanks for these videos!!! It’s a shit show in the country but with these videos you brought some joy to my life. Yes it’s just a game but it’s a distraction for just and hour to ease the mind and I thank you for that!

Crazy that this team finished as the 6th seed in the west but had like 99% of the same group from 2012 and they upset 4 juggernaut teams to win this dub again only 730-740 days since their magical first one
This was easily the better of the two Stanley Cup Wins. Revenge against Chicago after defeating our state rivals and to win the cup in double OT a home? I’ll wait for you to tell me a better Stanley Cup run
The 2nd cup had one of the best final games ever. The first one had one of the most dominant teams ever with a 16-4 record AS AN 8TH SEED. No team or league professional sports had a 8th seed or lower win it all. The 2012 was definitely the best playoff run of the 2 cups, but the 2014 one had perhaps the best quality series with 3 game 7s and a finals series thst probably deserved to go to game 7 with all the ots
I think the Kings petitioned to have Ben Scrivens name put on the Cup and were denied, but he was instrumental in saving the Kings season. Wow, and then to get traded to Edmonton. I'll never feel underappreciated in my life after that series of events.
I was at Game 1 and 2 of the finals. But the Blackhawks series was insane, i was only able to go to 1 game for that series. Hoping the Kings can have a good run in this 2022 playoff because its Dustin Brown's last run.
I bought this 2014 SC Champions Blu-Ray when it was released but couldn't watch it because of region locking, very annoying, even more so cause the 2012 Blu-Ray was region free, but the 2014 was locked....why???!! Finally i'm able to watch it!
Poor Gaborik would get shoved to the ice a few times during this series. He'd score and one of the opponents would give him cheap shot. He is such a badass.
And it all started with the Los Angeles Kings coming back from an 0-3 Series Deficit to eliminate San Jose IN THE FIRST ROUND of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
