I have just subscribed to your channel and commented on your video on beaudesert. Now I have to comment on this video about Beenleigh as I grew up there. Thank you for the video and keep up the good work 👏
Thanks Rob. I have lived around Beenleigh for the lasd 20 years and did not know this park was here. Sure i had heard of it but never been I will go and check it out.
The house belonged to the Reiser family and the height of the '74 flood was almost into the second floor. Beenleigh Marketplace was surveyed at that same flood level. Also the BP Service Centre is that level too. Billy Bruin lived in a small shack in the swampland down from Reisers.
@@walkaboutwithrob there was a run down caravan park that a lot of people stayed there when moving to area from interstate as you could have pets there. Was not what you would call a nice tourist caravan park. Where Mitre 10 and medical centre is was a lovely caravan park but they ended up no.pets. think it was called The Pines.
This is a great video, thanks Rob! I have lived in Beenleigh the past 14 years. I will have to take my sons for a walk/bike ride along that path! Hugh Muntz Park is overrun with the homeless now - their tents are absolutely everywhere.
That was interesting especially that built up land in Beenleigh town where it once had a train track and bridge on it. Where people love to park their cars for awhile then told it is not a parking spot. Confusing that plot of land but that was interesting to learn the history about it. A bit of a shame some of the river area's aren't open to a nice view of the river like over where the Old Red bridge is. Anyway nice job and thank you.
@walkaboutwithrob not really, I was only about 10, we had moved from Slacks Creek. Sure my older cousin told me it was cleared out and near the (now) Marketplace though.
I grew up in Beenleigh and Beenleigh is my old stomping grounds in the 80's as a teenager, I went to Beenleigh High. I remembered catching the old trains before the new trains came out and they changed the station location. I was one of the first to hop on the new trains. A few people I know still lives in Beenleigh. I remembered it was only one lane road in places of Beenleigh.
Thanks for the video Rob :) I actually have never been to Beenleigh but I'm thinking of catching the train there one day and going for a bit of an explore around 😂
I wonder if the changes that have been made to the Beenleigh area and its wetlands and watercourses made the Albert & Logan river floods of 2017 and 2022 worse than they would otherwise have been. (I survived both of them, god I hope when they do the "Logan faster rail" project or whatever it is they fix the rail network in this area so floods don't cause the trains to shut down for a week or 2)
They currently are planning on the Logan to Gold Coast Faster Rail Project, where they duplicate the tracks from Kuraby & straighten sections of the railway tracks, as well as moving a station or two to be on a straight section of track to enable that trains stopping there do so more easily while permitting for the express trains to go racing past the non-express ones. Although I yet to have seen any certain things to do with preventing any floods, so that remains unkown to me - but I know of the trains having been suspended after kuraby due to the flooding last year for quite a fair while from memory, so I think that they might very well be getting something done to prevent any more incidents like that from taking place anymore.
@@walkaboutwithrob No mate. You just need to get a female offsider for your perambulations. And, being the perfect gentleman that you are, I'm sure that you'll always let the lady go first! 😜🙄😁
Thanks for tour of Beeners ironically if Beeners rail station is to prosper from a island platform of 2 lines theyll may need to go back to artificial land over Albert river land hence 2 steps back in progress. The undercover picnic table i could only imagine what unpicnicky things happened under there if the framework could only talk there be Sex , drugs and Rock n rolling. In regards to Old mates park hasnt got much serenity its got allot nearby motorheads i assume Logan city council aint improving the area to be a children’s adventure playground and ride on train with artificial island hoping over the Albert river. Nice trip down memory lane. Each time I saw some of that wetland go a piece of me died. I love nature and the councils squashed it into almost non-existence for profit
Hey man my misses and I went for a bike ride on the Northern Rivers Railtrail this weekend gone by and it was absolutely awesome. I know it's not QLD but if you havent been for a walk there Id highly suggest it.
@@walkaboutwithrob Hey man it certainly does take in a couple of towns like Burringbar and Mooball. It also goes through where the old train stations were. Apparently the highway used to go through Mooball before they built the M1, don't quote me though!
Thanks for something new and positive. Just please don't invite council to remove trees - they seem to love doing that. Maybe ask for smaller vistas to be created. Maybe your video will encourage more people to care for our land and waterways and also the beautiful wildlife. 👍
@Chris H I use three different cameras. Main one is the DJI Osmo Action. I also use a Canon EOS R10 for landscapes. And I also use my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
I have always used GoPro to date but I will definitely see how the DJI Osmo Action compares when I upgrade my current model. I also have a DJI drone which I have been very happy with, but alas it is becoming much more difficult to use it nowadays with all the legislative restrictions.
Ah rob, I get what your saying re the picnic table and no access or view of the river...
