Here, I explain what is commonly know as a TURP. We have improved this procedure which is more-so now a transurethral vaporization of the prostate rather than a resection. This procedure opens up the channel or urethra going through the prostate in order to help men with BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) or an obstructing prostate improve voiding symptoms resolving the obstruction. I discuss the benefits, possible complications, and outcomes of the procedure and why it is one of the best procedures and most successful for treating obstructing prostates.
