Put the shovel down should be the name of your book. That phrase says so very much about your teaching and guide style. First. Put the shovel down. Thank you. That phrase helped me stop in my tracks and first put the shovel down before approaching the situation. I have grown exponentially taking your words to heart and applying good action. Not shovel action. Thank you
?????? How do you combat the negativity and the self deception of the addict????? My friend, who is addicted to alcohol, is very negative about everything and wants to be in crisis mode all the time so that he can have an excuse to drink more. How do you combat his type of thinking and let the addict see a more realistic picture of life and the need to stop drinking to get out of crisis mode?
Assume they are luing or manipulating. If they are in active addiction. Assume you are if you are codependent. Powerful thing to do is ask "what could I be lying to myself about?"
That's a great question! I've been dealing with it from my son for 4 years now and I never really thought of that question but you've got me wondering about it now! I hope Amber gives a reply!
We have a property manager who is likely an alcoholic. She parties with tenants who have addiction and severe mental health issues. One died. The company does nothing to stop it bc this person is highly manipulative. She is unstable and pounded on my door "like an animal" for two hours. Still nothing is done. The level of corporate enabling is astounding. In fact they gave her employee of the year!
What can I say to my son that is in jail that is positive to begin building trust. He is suffering real life consequences we hope to move him to rehab after this
Go Suboxone instead of methadone. However, both tough to get off of. However, should not act like addict as it is way different. You don't feel it at all. or get high unless doing wrong and not following directions. Dont even know on it until its wears off. Then you have a week or so to power through some of the anxiety but much better than sick as heck.
The phrase "You know they're lying because their lips are moving".. was probably penned by someone dealing with an addict.
So tired of the lies. Tired of not living my authentic life! God forbid you ask a question!

I’m 73 and can’t even bear talking with my 42 year old addict daughter on the phone. I feel sick and don’t know how to get over this feeling.

Glad you enjoyed it!😀😀😀
There is no such thing as an honest addict. Oh sure, they will sometimes tell the truth, but never the WHOLE truth...
Is there any hope for a relationship where there has been alot of gaslighting around an addiction?
That's a great question! I've been dealing with it from my son for 4 years now and I never really thought of that question but you've got me wondering about it now! I hope Amber gives a reply!
Yes there is hope. I've seen people and relationships come back from the brink, lots of times!
Thank God there is hope .
Yep it's a lie
Amber is looking really pretty in this video. ☀️
Thanks
Wow! Thank you so much! 😀
I'd have to say " that doesn't make sense, why would you do that?"
When they do that is it wise to call them on it?
Good question. Here's a video on that topic, LadyBug. 🐞Here's a video on that topic. th-cam.com/users/liveAKQHIqr5Gl4
How do you help them see their own deception?
They know. They're masters of manipulation. Not stupid.
The most helpful thing is to step out of the way so they have to pay attention to their own behaviors instead of focusing on others.

What is the name of the book you mentioned in this video?
For sure, leaving out information, on purpose, is deceit.okay...not a lie per se, but definitely deceit
They never line up. So what can you do but wait for them to show up destroyed?
What about those who use addiction to make themselves comfortable because of diagnosed psychiatric disorder.

Do you have an experience with addiction to taking loans from shark lenders with an interest rate of about 10% per month...

My hubby started flight with me
My thoughts are, ‘your son coaxed a female Friend to act as The Social worker and call you with the lie, as he has already eloped from ER
Re: True Crime story, pregnancy is a very dangerous time in a woman’s life because of the risk of homicide.
