I love Once Upon A Time In The West, i love the soundtrack, suspence, memorable characters and other qualities that makes it my favourite western movie.
Terrible list. A Fistful Of Dollars is fairly average & Django top five? HA! What a joke. Django isn't better than The Great Silence which is easily Corbucci's masterpiece & how Once Upon A Time In The West is not top three on everyone's list is baffling.
1. For A Few Dollars More 2. The Good, the Bad & the Ugly 3. Once Upon A Time In The West 4. Unforgiven 5. The Magnificent Seven 6. Open Range 7. Searchers 8. A Fistful Of Dollars 9. My Name Is Nobody 10. Pale Rider
Once Upon a Time in the West is by far the best western ever made. And I am not the only one saying it. It is a masterpiece. The story, the wonderful amazing score, the dialogue, the drama, the story, the mystery, the beautiful woman, how it was shot, and oh yeah, the setting. Unbeatable. The last 15 minutes of the movie are perfect. Perfect.
It’s definitely in my top 10 possibly top five, can you really say it’s better than the good the bad and the ugly? If you can then it’s definitely the best of the 60s I’ll say the best of the 80s is Silverado 90s Has to be tombstone. 50s hast to go to Shane 70s Josey Wales 30s stage coach and I can’t think of a 40s one right now.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is #1 especially for climatic showdown between the three which last more than 5 minutes. The musical score in this scene alone shows how it was used to portray emotion.
Great picks! My top ten is a bit more Eastwood laden but you included his three all time best. Also, 1993's Tombstone has always rated high with me, even more so now with Bill Paxton's untimely passing in 2017. RIP Bill. You left us some incredible films by which to remember you fondly.
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, Unforgiven, Dollars Trilogy, The Outlaw Josie Wales, High Plains Drifter, Tombstone, and True Grit (I like both original and remake). Those are my favorite westerners in no particular order.
Brandoch Garage My Name is Nobody is one of my favorites as well. I agree Unforgiven is a good film, I just didn't pick it as a top ten, I like Joe Kid and other Eastwood westerns better.
Sitizen Kane THE Greatest film of all-time is # 1 : Sam Peckinpah's, " The Wild Bunch". / #2 : For A Few Dollars More", Leones best film. / # 3 : " Outlaw Josey Wales", Eastwood's best Dramatic role / 4. " Tombstone" : Kurt Russell & Val Kilmer at their very best. / 5. "Seraphim Falls " : wonderfully underrated, great perf.'s , awesome scenery, an anti-war war-story set in the post Civil War west. / 6. " Magnificent 7 / 7. " El Dorado " , The Duke & Mitchum ! / 8. " Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid" , classic perf.'s, sad, tragic story. / 9. " the Good, Bad, & The Ugly" : loved Eli Wallach! / 10. " The Ballad Of Cable Hogue " : Stella Stevens was never so sexy & vulnerable ! Wolfsky9
Hamilton Perkins My Name is Nobody is great, but it's a comedy more than a western. Belongs on another list, but not the list of some of the greatest Westerns..
"Shane" is among my favorite Westerns. I am glad it made honorable mention. The trilogy, "A Fistful of Dollars"; "A Few Dollars More" and "The Good Bad and the Ugly" are at the top of the list. "Dances with Wolves" is a film that has to be seen on the wide screen of a movie theater.
oh god yes that movie Clayton Moore is probably turning in his grave i wish they made it more true to the show then another pirate of the Caribbean shit fest... i hope if they make another one it will be in honor of Clayton Moore.
Putting "Shane" and "Stagecoach" on the Honorable mentions instead of on the list is a crime! Two movies that absolutely define the genre! I agree with your pic for No. 1 and No. 2 though!
My list 1.Once Upon A Time In The West 2.The Good The Bad and The Ugly 3.Mccabe And Mrs.Miller 4.The Searchers 5.Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid 6.Dances With Wolves 7.Unforgiven 8.The Wild Bunch 9.Django Unchained 10.High Noon
Fun Fact: The guy who wrote The Outlaw Josey Wales also wrote both The Education of Little Tree and George Wallace's "Segregation Now, Segregation Forever" speech.
I feel like The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance deserved an honorable mention, for being one of the more morally inquisitive Western movies. That, and it had a plot twist that made it different.
1. The Good The Bad and The Ugly 2. Once Upon a Time in the West 3. The Searchers 4. High Noon 5. Stagecoach 6. Unforgiven 7. Shane 8. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance 9. The Outlaw Josey Wales 10. Rio Bravo
@@anthonylogiudice9215 Damn good movie. Even if it wasn't a good film, Clint makes any western watchable. I've always seen the sunset during the end credits of Unforgiven as the sun setting on the Western. That film was the final masterpiece of the genre. I can't think of one that's been released since 1992 that comes anywhere close to that film's level of greatness. There have been hybrids like No Country for Old Men and Hell of High Water but none that have properly filled the void.
Jaxson Burke I agree with most of them mate. Nice to see another fella who has a good taste and appreciation for the great oldens. I would have el dorado and the original true grit in there tho.
totally agree with the number 1 spot, a great movie and 1 of the best westerns ever made. The best thing about the film is that its not JUST a straightforward western there are moments of great history, moments of sadness, moments of tragedy its just a amazing film.
One word: Tombstone "You called down the thunder. Well now you got it [. . . ] You tell them I'm coming and hells coming with me, you hear? Hell's coming with me!" Not only is this an amazingly well written scene, but the actor puts so much emotion into it ... it honestly deserved an honorable mention. : (

Django Unchained, Tombstone, and the 3:10 to Yuma remake should all be at least honorable mentions. Also, Young Guns is kind of a guilty pleasure for me, even though I know it holds no place here.
I can agree with that, they should have been honorable mentions. The problem is, that if you include all the westerns that should be honorable mentions, the video would be an hour long :)
Shane.....it was so good that Clint Eastwood took every aspect and nuisance of it and directed the film Pale Rider. It had it all, the scenery, the plot, the hero worship from a small boy, his mother hopelessly in love, and the epic finale. For me,the greatest western ever made.
1. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly 2. For a Few Dollars More 3. A Fistful of Dollars 4. Once Upon a Time in the West 5. The Magnificent Seven 6. The Outlaw Josey Wales 7. Unforgiven 8. Wyatt Earp 9. High Plains Drifter 10. True Grit (2010) 11. Hang 'Em High
SAsgarters And still the first four films on your list are by the same director (Sergio Leone), do you realize that? It's very easy (ESPECIALLY in the Western genre) if you watch films by certain directors. You just have to look for John Ford, Sergio Corbucci, Howard Hawks Westerns, and you'll find countless masterpieces. The Good, the bad and the ugly in particular is mostly great because of the direction (and the soundtrack)
Despite being my favorite genre, I've somehow never gotten to Once Upon a Time in the West, and the Wild Bunch. Saw the rest #1 is the a no-brainer, completely correct, though Unforgiven is #2..."the Good, the Bad, and The Ugly" is the best western, "Unforgiven" is the best modern western.
I agree with you I couldn't like the good the bad the ugly any more than I do it's a tie with it and Apocalypse now for the greatest movies ever but once upon a Time in the West just falls flat for me it moves too slowly okay the fly is an iconic moment but it's too long too many dripping things and creaking boards and slow action and where they chose to have their ranch also is a mistake that they've made in several westerns you've got to have water and grass and life where you plan on sitting down your stakes or you're going to get turned into a tumbleweed really quick
I like The Cowboys with John Wayne and Bruce Dern. In that movie, John Wayne plays a cattle farmer who needs a crew to help him drive his herd to the next town over. Since he can't get any men to help him, he calls on a school house full of boys to drive the herd with him. Bruce Dern plays the leader of a group of rustlers to steal the herd from him. Bruce Dern is also the first villain in history who gets to kill John Wayne in a movie.
Fun fact, Metallica begins every show with a variation of The Ecstasy of Gold which was famously used in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, they even play scenes form the movie on their screens as the music plays.
Shane not making the Top 10? George Stevens masterpiece broke the mold of westerns, guns were no longer pop-guns, they were instruments of violence. The cinematography is unsurpassed by any western before and after. Between 1945 and 1970, George Stevens only made nine movies - the sign of a true perfectionist.
Many people dont directly consider it a classic western but I'd include it. Little Big Man. One of the most unique, classic, funny and entertaining westerns. Unlike the typical spaghetti or gunslinger western it was something refreshing. Somewhat like a classic western opposite to McCabe & Mrs. Miller.
The Good, the Bad & the Ugly is not just the best Western movie, it is one of the best films ever made.

"The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Once Upon a Time in the West" are the two best westerns, in my opinion. "For a Few Dollars More", "Death Rides a Horse" and "The Great Silence" should've been on this list...
Dean Kryton Nwestern
Western
The Great Silence is a fantastic western, but its obscurity to so many is a great shame.
Finally someone who talks about The Great Silence! Awesome movie ending.
The fact that The Great Silence and Django 1966 isn't here
Gotta mention "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"
"Hey Blondie!!!!!! We're #1!"
Once Upon a Time in the West is my favorite one.
That's a great movie Harmonica is great in that
What a beauty Claudia Cardinale...
@@henry6354 Yes she was a stunner and harmonica left her
MINE AS WELL
Yupp
I don't know if they should make the top ten, but I sure enjoyed "Tombstone" (Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday stole the picture) and also "Siverardo."
+RichardFeynmanRules We're on the same page Richard. If you look at top you will see my comment listing those two movies as well...
+Greg McLean Ah, yes. Good stuff!
+RichardFeynmanRules Agreed.
Couldn't agree more
+RichardFeynmanRules no Tombstone = shit list
1. The good the bad and the ugly
2. For a few dollars more
3. Big jake
4. A fistful of dollars
5. Sons of Katy elder
Honourable mentions - The man who shot liberty valance
- Tombstone
- Once upon a time in the west
- The magnificent seven
MrBen:
You would put Magnificent Seven only as honorable mention? How sad.The best full blooded cast in any film ever made, major star after star after star,..and you give it only that. Man,... That entire cast, including the bad guy,Eli Wallach, were stars before they got together for that film.
Cast:
Yul Brynner
Eli Wallach
Steve McQueen
Charles Bronson
James Coburn
Robert Vaughn
Horst Buchholtz
How can it get any better than this?
The shootist, high plains drifter, Eldorado, red river.
The Sons of Katie Elder is awesome!
@@balkangameszp agree and I just got done watching the wild bunch and it's now made it's way on to my list of great wester movies
How you not have open range in there? Crazy
Seeing that I've watched The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly about a hundred times, I think this list was pretty spot on.
1. Good bad ugly 10/10 timeless masterpiece
2.for a few dollars more 9.9/10 masterpiece
3.once upon a time in the west 9.5/10 iconic movie and Henry Fonda delivery
Nah Once upon time in the west 10/10 too
A Fistful Of Dollars/Yojimbo (both are equal) 9.3
@@duhund9383 yeah if you can’t see that once upon a time in the west isn’t 10/10 you obviously don’t understand the beauty of storytelling and suspense along with the looks and actions!!!
lol
I love Once Upon A Time In The West, i love the soundtrack, suspence, memorable characters and other qualities that makes it my favourite western movie.
1. The good the bad and the ugly

Terrible list. A Fistful Of Dollars is fairly average & Django top five? HA! What a joke. Django isn't better than The Great Silence which is easily Corbucci's masterpiece & how Once Upon A Time In The West is not top three on everyone's list is baffling.
1. For A Few Dollars More
2. The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
3. Once Upon A Time In The West
4. Unforgiven
5. The Magnificent Seven
6. Open Range
7. Searchers
8. A Fistful Of Dollars
9. My Name Is Nobody
10. Pale Rider
miguel ornelas it's his opinion
You spelled tombstone wrong
For a few dollars more is my personal favorite as well...
@jack mehOFF Let's see your list
"3:10 to Yuma" remake should've been an honorable mention
The remake is one of the best westerns I’ve ever seen better than 5 or 6 on this list
It should be on the list. It’s better then the searchers imo
Perc Nowitzki high noon is very overated 310 should take the spot
Super good movie
Once Upon a Time in the West is by far the best western ever made. And I am not the only one saying it. It is a masterpiece. The story, the wonderful amazing score, the dialogue, the drama, the story, the mystery, the beautiful woman, how it was shot, and oh yeah, the setting. Unbeatable. The last 15 minutes of the movie are perfect. Perfect.
I agree. Awesome movie.
1. Once Upon a Time in the West
2. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
3. Unforgiven
4. The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford
5. For a Few Dollars More
5. A Fistful of Dollars
6. Giù la testa
7. High Noon
8. The Magnificent Seven
9. The Searchers
10. 3:10 to Yuma
def agree with your 1 and 2
way better now :)
What version of 3:10 to Yuma??? :)
Top list!!
All of Clint's westerns should be here - especially High Plains Drifter and Pale Rider
i found high plains drifter depressing tbh
the opening scene where Eastwood rides to town is the coolest ever
kincaide67 the man called blade
Nah man, a movie like "Two Mules for Sister Sara" should not belong on this list. ^^
Clint Eastwood may just be America's most overrated actor: Little presence, low skill, and no style.
Clint Eastwood is a great director for various genres, but as an actor, we’ll always remember him for westerns
To me Heartbreak Ridge was my favorite movie he stared in. I don’t know why it’s just my favorite Clint Eastwood movie
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is #1 especially for climatic showdown between the three which last more than 5 minutes. The musical score in this scene alone shows how it was used to portray emotion.
I liked Open Range as well and Kilmer's Doc Holliday in Tombstone is a great character...great lines
I'm your huckleberry
@@meghnabanerjee2241 HA
Great picks! My top ten is a bit more Eastwood laden but you included his three all time best. Also, 1993's Tombstone has always rated high with me, even more so now with Bill Paxton's untimely passing in 2017. RIP Bill. You left us some incredible films by which to remember you fondly.
My top 5:
#1 The Good The Bad And The Ugly
#2 Once Upon A Time In The West
#3 For A Few Dollars More
#4 A Fistfull Of Dollars
#5 Unforgiven
I saw The Good, The Bad & the Ugly for the first time when I was about 5 years old. Now I wanna go watch it again! Coolest movie ever!
RDR2 made me to indulge in western films.
Devailean western movies made me indulge in rdr2

same. just watched the man with no name trilogy for the first time, it was awesome

If you want a great western movie , watch The hateful eight . The hateful eight is so awesome
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, Unforgiven, Dollars Trilogy, The Outlaw Josie Wales, High Plains Drifter, Tombstone, and True Grit (I like both original and remake). Those are my favorite westerners in no particular order.
Good point good list.
Sitizen Kane High Plains Drifter and My Name is Nobody are two of my favourite guilty pleasure western movies. Unforgiven is really brilliant, too
Brandoch Garage My Name is Nobody is one of my favorites as well.
Anybody else find it kind of ironic that Clint “East”wood plays in a lot of “West”erns?
good joke man
No
Just you
BOO!
NO!
Dishonorable mention for Disney´s The Lone Ranger with Johnny Depp.
oh god yes that movie
Clayton Moore is probably turning in his grave i wish they made it more true to the show then another pirate of the Caribbean shit fest... i hope if they make another one it will be in honor of Clayton Moore.
Clint Eastwood is the best
Red dead redemption 2 players looking for outfit and gun ideas
Putting "Shane" and "Stagecoach" on the Honorable mentions instead of on the list is a crime! Two movies that absolutely define the genre! I agree with your pic for No. 1 and No. 2 though!
Once upon a time in the West is still my favorite, I think it was the first western I ever saw.
My list
1.Once Upon A Time In The West
2.The Good The Bad and The Ugly
3.Mccabe And Mrs.Miller
4.The Searchers
5.Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid
6.Dances With Wolves
7.Unforgiven
8.The Wild Bunch
9.Django Unchained
10.High Noon
Great list! And what about Heaven's Gate?
BuckDanny2314 never saw it :/
Geo Biery What is the best in your opinion?
BuckDanny2314 The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance was better than some on that list. At the very least it should have been mentioned.
The last train from gunhill
I really do think that the last 30 seconds of the showdown of The Good, The Bad And The Ugly was the most badass moment in movie history
Once Upon A Time In The West and The Good The Bad and The Ugly are the best westerns movie ever :D
why no honorable mentions for other dollar trilogy movies
How about The man who shot Liberty Valance ?
drackxman
great song by Gene Pitney!!!
I love that film. In my opinion, it is much better than the Searchers.
that movie is so freaking good
drackxman:
One of my top ten favorite films of all time. Lee Marvin as Liberty Valance was just amazingly terrifying!
Should have just made the entire Dollars Trilogy number 1. All 3 are classics that I enjoyed with my Grandfather, and now with my own kids.
What about Robert Redford in Jeremiah Johnson. One of the best!
I agree :-)
Great call, much underrated.
That's a great and beautiful movie where the scenes do the talking. The film is almost a documentary or a story telling experience. Yes great movie.
Absolutely, must watch again.
Yes great movie one of the best
Fun Fact: The guy who wrote The Outlaw Josey Wales also wrote both The Education of Little Tree and George Wallace's "Segregation Now, Segregation Forever" speech.
any movie with John Wayne or Clint Eastwood is better than one without them
Clint yes, Wayne, fuck no.
Edward Fleming You are a soyboy. Admit it.
Dunno, Eli Walach kinda steals the show from him in no#1.
lilbrothaaa he was awesome for sure.
Whyne no sir!Fuck him!Prefer Tuco or Lee van Cleef!
Thanks for giving away all the endings.
Dislike for not adding Bud Spencer & Terence Hill on this list....
yes, the poker secene whith the epic card shuffling
Did you check the criteria at the start????
11001 11001 And the "gunfight" where trinity just slaps the opponent. That was the most legendary thing in a western movie. 😂😂😂😂😂
They have a video game now...
Terence Hill & Henry Fonda's My Name Is Nobody is definitely top 10 material. But so is Boots Hill and They Call Me Trinity
I feel like The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance deserved an honorable mention, for being one of the more morally inquisitive Western movies. That, and it had a plot twist that made it different.
I really like that one, too.
absolutely
Definitely one of my best!
Awww, come on: "Rio Bravo" should have got at least a honorable mention.... :-)
1. The Good The Bad and The Ugly
2. Once Upon a Time in the West
3. The Searchers
4. High Noon
5. Stagecoach
6. Unforgiven
7. Shane
8. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
9. The Outlaw Josey Wales
10. Rio Bravo
Pale Rider was a great Western film in the 1980s, a decade in which Hollywood abandoned the genre because it was not profitable anymore.
Ohh and butch Cassidy and the sundance kid, I almost forgot. Oh hell and every John Wayne western in there aswell.
@@JohnSmith-gf2en I actually have never seen El Dorado. I like The Coen Brothers remake of True Grit much more than John Wayne's.
totally agree with the number 1 spot, a great movie and 1 of the best westerns ever made. The best thing about the film is that its not JUST a straightforward western there are moments of great history, moments of sadness, moments of tragedy its just a amazing film.
One word: Tombstone
"You called down the thunder. Well now you got it [. . . ] You tell them I'm coming and hells coming with me, you hear? Hell's coming with me!"
Not only is this an amazingly well written scene, but the actor puts so much emotion into it ... it honestly deserved an honorable mention. : (
Yes it did!
That and also Wyatt Earp love both films
I love Unforgiven and The Searchers a lot, but no way they're better than Once Upon A Time In The West.
Mees Once Upon A Time in the West should've been number 1
Totally agree, Once Upon a Time deserves the number one spot.
Recently I watch Eastwood movies "the good the bad n the ugly n for few dollars more.."now ,for days fells like I'm living in the world of West.its so Glamour's it a man's things.. Eastwood is the icon of how handsome n charming man a can be..
Or for a few dollars more
@@eliza51189 Those are Sergio Leone's movies. Not "Clint Eastwood movies".
Why am I not surprised that Clint Eastwood is on this list 3 times.
He should have been on five.. fistful of dollars, for a few dollars more needs to be mentioned...

I cant think of john wayne movie I like, willd bill with jeff bridges was okay,
Maverick was okay, true grit was okay, anything with eastwood is a must see western, I cant think of another western I like as much as these
Did they consider Django Unchained to be a hybrid Western? Because it made me a little suspicious as to why it wasn't even mentioned.
Django Unchained, Tombstone, and the 3:10 to Yuma remake should all be at least honorable mentions. Also, Young Guns is kind of a guilty pleasure for me, even though I know it holds no place here.
Yep, I agree :3
I agree
I can agree with that, they should have been honorable mentions. The problem is, that if you include all the westerns that should be honorable mentions, the video would be an hour long :)
Shane.....it was so good that Clint Eastwood took every aspect and nuisance of it and directed the film Pale Rider. It had it all, the scenery, the plot, the hero worship from a small boy, his mother hopelessly in love, and the epic finale. For me,the greatest western ever made.
Shane is my pick too.
Shane,comeback,,best ever
Pale Rider was tremendously good Shane being a 50s movie was still way better
1. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
2. For a Few Dollars More
3. A Fistful of Dollars
4. Once Upon a Time in the West
5. The Magnificent Seven
6. The Outlaw Josey Wales
7. Unforgiven
8. Wyatt Earp
9. High Plains Drifter
10. True Grit (2010)
11. Hang 'Em High
Not a big John Ford or Howard Hawks fan, are you?
Tom Waits It's more that I don't care. I don't care who the director of a movie is, unless I'm looking for someone to blame.
My picks: Every Clint Eastwood western ever. That dude made me love cowboys. :)
Yes, true... zi good zi bad & zi ugly is the best of all time... this trio, Eastwood, Wallack, & Kliff did it so so well...
Great list. All right on the money. The Good The Bad And The Ugly is a definite number 1
Wayne's character died in several of his films. Dern was just the first one to be SEEN doing it!
Quigly Down Under. OK it is in Australia, but Quigly is from Wyoming. Open Range should have got a honorable mention, as well as Dances with Wolves.
Sergio Leone, that is all......
One of my favorite western movies is the wild bunch just finished it and it's made it's way on my list of all time favorites
The Wild Bunch is not only a great western-it is a GREAT AMERICAN FILM!!
I thought Tombstone would've made this list.
Snarfsnarfff absolutely goddamn shame that this list is without it
hell it didn't even get an "Honorable Mention"...Totally Bogus List!!!
I am surprised it didnt make the list as well. It is great.
i thought The Ridiculous 6 would have made this list
“I have two guns, one for each of ya” so many timeless lines in that movie
My name is Nobody?
I dont think most ppl have seen this movie, but it is a great
Soooooooooo!!!Great movie!!
Dead Man
Tombstone and Open Range... The remake of True Grit doesn't deserve to be on here...
Miller.
Great list. Top 10 westerns of all time could be crowded by another 100.
