  • I used a clay bar process today to rectify the badly contaminated paint work on my Mercedes-Benz CL500.
A clay bar is a detailing tool used in the process of cleaning and restoring a vehicle's paint. It is made of a soft, pliable clay material that is designed to remove bonded contaminants from the surface of a car, such as tree sap, industrial fallout, and brake dust, that regular washing and waxing cannot remove.
Using a clay bar is a simple process. First, the surface of the car is thoroughly washed and dried. Then, the clay bar is kneaded to form a small ball and is coated with a clay lubricant, such as a quick detailer spray. The clay bar is then gently rubbed over the surface of the car in a back-and-forth motion until the surface feels smooth and clean. Any contaminants that are picked up by the clay bar are discarded and the process is repeated until the entire vehicle is clay barred.
Claying a car is an important step in the detailing process because it helps to ensure that the paint is smooth and free of contaminants that can cause scratches and swirls. After claying, the surface of the car is ready for polishing and waxing, which will help to enhance its shine and protect the paint from future damage.
Overall, using a clay bar is a simple and effective way to maintain the appearance of a car's paint and keep it looking its best. It is recommended to clay a car at least once a year, or more frequently for cars that are frequently driven in dirty or polluted environments.

Hard to see in video but it has made a difference. The feel of a highly polished car is like nothing else. I have never done this to my cars , butyouhave inspired me, god help me.

Fantastic! If your paintwork feels rough and gritty I reckon it could definitely benefit from a clay bar.
