I have done this many years. The first one lived for three years outside. I covered it with leaves. We eat it in salads. Love your videos. I have been gardening since 1944. It is a only thing I can still do even in a wheelchair. Keep up your good work. It makes my day.
Thank you, very informative! A volunteer started in huge pot I had outside in full sun. I let it grow not knowing what it was. Took it in over winter & now in October I have gorgeous red blossoms outside, taking it back in to winter over again. So glad I saved it…beautiful!! I am in MD so winters can get cold.

My dog broke my pineapple sage plants I recently planted (chasing squirrels 🙄). I noticed little root stubs at the bottom of the broken branches so I stuck them in a glass of water a couple of days ago and they seem to be doing fine. But I bet if I stick them in some dirt they'll do even better! Thanks for this video. I wasn't sure I could save them. The hummingbirds love them!
I have a pineapple sage on my balcony here in Switzerland and have never wrapped it up in our subzero winters but somehow it has survived for several years while the normal sage hasn't 😅 The flowers are really lovely and I am here because my cleaner always looks at mine longingly, so I want to propagate one for her. 🤗

Many salvia plants do tend to be deer resistant. I've not noticed deer ever graze on ours but I don't plant a lot of pineapple sage. Other salvias they seem to leave alone.

You may have but it's been several years since I've been able to make it to that swap! It's a good one.

So do you just cut off parts from the tops of the plant stems?
Stem tips work great but you can take other material from the stem as well.

I don't think it would be disadvantageous at all. Sometimes though some plants just don't need it. You can save the rooting hormone for other plants.

Are these deer resistant!!!
Many salvia plants do tend to be deer resistant. I've not noticed deer ever graze on ours but I don't plant a lot of pineapple sage. Other salvias they seem to leave alone.
