I also have a right club foot. The shorter leg, smaller calf, and limited mobility..I used to think it was a big hindrance in my life and golf game but now knowing he has it and is one of the best golfers in the world, really inspires me. Thank you, Jon!
I have a whole right side shorter -shoulder / leg / foot … every golfer I e ever seen with a short swing I have copied cause I could do it with ease & never knew why … rahm has clarified my brain 🧠 a little bit … on this crazy game lol
His swing is just so simple. There isn't a lot of room to make mistakes because he leaves his hands infront of his body better than anyone. I truly believe he has the model golf swing for the modern golfer. He will never have any back pain or any issues because of how simple his rotation moves are.
I agree if you notice he rarely gets in much trouble off the tee. He basically sets the club and fires...in my mind i try to do the same thing and only think about once I set the club I just turn my hips into the ball. Not alot of room for error theres a reason he is so dominant.
I dont think theres anyone who has improved quicker during their time on tour than Rahm..I was skeptical of the hype he was getting early on bc he wasnt winning but lately hes shown that hype was justified..fine player he is..many more majors coming his way
this reminds me of a Brazilian Footballer Garrincha, he had one leg longer than the other and having one leg bend inward and the other outward but was able to use this uniqueness to his advantage when playing football
I love the people who think Jon isn't flexible because he's not some thin, lean guy. Have you seen his rotatiom speed?! Dudes way more flexible than he looks, which is shown in this video. Fires his hips and torso with insane vigor. And he transitions from back to downswing so quick that he loads the shaft up as much as anyone in the game. Then unloads all of that at impact for insane speed with a short swing.
Watched a woman's fast pitcher with same delivery. Joan Joyce threw 100s of no-hitters with the whip action. Very constitant with less movement. Never any injuries.
If you qatch a Jon Rahm swing tracer not a shot tracer his clubhead literally stays right on the same arc perfectly on the same plane, it allows him to really go after it with little room for error.
8:00 By the Numbers. GIR and Putting - that's why he's on top. Rory's driving about 17 yards past Rahm on avg., but those other "less glamorous" numbers... old story.
Rahm is one of the longest, fastest swingers on tour. Length + accuracy from tee to green is what helps make that GIR so good. And yeah he's a good putter too.
For irons, it appears that the ball is back of center. It is clear with the nose tracker. Ball is more towards the back foot. Is that the recipe for compression?
He's also one of very few top players with a right eye dominance while beeing right handed. Like me. A long, wide backswing isn't possible without loosing sight with the right eye. So he's a hitter instead a swinger (Tony Finau is another one)
Everything I see on social media is skinny lanky people with big long backswings. It’s nice to see a stockier pro golfer with a short backswing. Rahm is electric. I’m super glad he won the Masters.
I don't understand how his clubbed right foot affects his back swing. The right foot remains stable during the back swing and it only moves after impact. He doesn't seem to have a problem with a full follow through. The reality is that the shorter the swing the more likely to hit the sweet spot of the club face. The other thing about Rahm's drives are that they are not measured fades. His "fades" are more like vicious slices. Perhaps that is why when his tee shot with the driver stays straight he comes out with what commentators describe as "inappropriate language".
I don't swing back that far. I broke my right wrist 3 times and I broke my left wrist 2 time. And I can't bring my backswing back over my shoulders. I have to stop my backswing around the same area as he does.
Mark undertakes an observational analysis which allows him to make suggestions about driving forces and engines etc but to claim cause and effect is plain wrong.

Let's face it, Jon Rahm can afford the luxury of having a short swing, and still hits the ball pretty far because he weights around 230-240 lbs. A guy weighting around 170-180 lbs can not do it in most of the cases.
@@ElvisPriscillaPresley do not quite agree with you, let's think about simple physics: Force=Mass x Acceleration, and Torque=r x F x Sin (angle) => Torque is a function of mass as well.
Yes, I’ve always wondered about what is the mass component when it comes to force being applied in the golf swing. It is obviously more than the mass of the club. It is the mass of various body parts which I’m sure also varies with your timing. That is why a hacker sometimes purrs a shot 30 yards further than normal. His timing on that shot brought more mass to the hit. Thinner people definitely need to bring more speed to the equation or better timing.

Used Jon's driver tip for the first time today. Drove it far, Straight and longer than I ever have in my life. I'm 75 and today was a lot of fun..
A good 180 yards?

Glad your out there at 75 Keep grinding brother 👍

All PGA tour pros have great flexibility..some are more flexible than others but Rahm is at the top
My favourite on the tour right now 🎉
Modern day Mike Austin. Throw and Turn.
Thank you Seve....inspiring the Spanish young guys.
The best thing about Jon Rahms swing is Jon Rahm
his clubbed right foot allowed him to create one of the most cheat code backswings ever lol dude is insane
He’s always had a club around growing up (im sorry)
I can watch at least 10 times a day
Excellent analysis!!!
more of this, please.
Love his swing, his unique swing.

This was one of the greatest breakdown of a golf swing I ever saw. So many great points 🍺🍺🍺👍

I think this shows that play a swing your comfortable with. Don’t change swings and change everything only to play worse golf.

I will work on this because I am 73 I cant get all the turn in the back that I used to but see this power I realizing I don't need all that turn.
great competitor and thanks for the stats
Thanks for this post
Jon's swing from start to finish appears to be the fastest ever.
Nick Price was faster I think
Yeah, pretty quick.
I said Jon's swing is fast to a pro giving me a lesson and he said his swing isn't fast, I lost confidence in the pro immediately after that.

What an inspiration.
The “forward press” is actually a result of him having his arms relaxed at address and then straightening them right before he takes it back.
He's awesome.
Love this video. Thank you
Just Perfect!!!
So important to move forward befire reaching top of back swing. Creates lag for powerful swing
Great info
My favourite player hitting the ball magnificently….
Very, very interesting 👍
Yeah
What a fine move. This is what Nicklaus’s swing would look like if he was trying to swing like Trevino.
For irons, it appears that the ball is back of center. It is clear with the nose tracker. Ball is more towards the back foot. Is that the recipe for compression?
It is..the father back the ball is in your stance the earlier the club makes contact with it
🔥🔥🔥
IDK how he swings so hard with a 1ft backswing.
He's very flexible and his hips fire on the down swing dropping the club down through the slot with a lot of whipping motion ans power
He's also one of very few top players with a right eye dominance while beeing right handed. Like me. A long, wide backswing isn't possible without loosing sight with the right eye. So he's a hitter instead a swinger (Tony Finau is another one)
Where is your proof of that, if true, I would like to see it.
It seems to me that his swing on the down swing must be driven by the lower body as you say but that right foot must be starting it all off.
one plane perfection
More swing theory!

This would honestly be a good swing for anyone who lacks flexibility. It’s very compact and short.
Jon also swings down hard with his hands. Make no mistake. You don't get all that power from the legs and body. Think Mike Austin.
Most of it is the legs and body
