Let me know which commander you want me to use in the next run! Get the likes up on the video if you enjoyed. :D Thanks for spending some time here today!
The targeting seems to be pretty rudimentary with locking the closest target at the start of battle and moving towards/attacking it. Assuming the AI also follows these rules it does open up some tactics. Place a few slow but high HP units (peons might also work) slightly in front a line of cavalry and the AI will probably target the front units leaving the cavalry free to run amok. Deploying near the rear of your zone should yield the best results. Might be worth a try.
Good point, I was thinking the same thing myself! They actually just changed the targeting in a brand new update though and, per the dev, units will now target the closest unit which will refresh every 1 sec and you actually have the tactical opportunity to assign your squads to target specific unit types (IE: cavalry target archers) it'll change the way we play the game and I'll be showcasing it in the next run! Thanks for checking it out my friend! Stay tuned for the Barbarian run which is up next!
That's the second vote for Uthgar, so unless something crazy happens, that'll be the next run! There's also a BIG update that just went live for this game which will change the behavior of the units to target what's closest to them vs. what's in front (will prevent the running by the front line phenomenon you see in this video) and you're also now able to tell a specific unit group to target a specific unit group of the enemy (IE: my cavs target their archers), so look for that in the Uthgar run too! Thanks for checking out the video my friend, you rock!
You are asking yourself why your units move in front of enemy frontline... It is because your formation is bad. Every unit that you place goes to attack the first unit in that lane that is there when the combat starts. So when your unit is facing a kingdom warrior and then when the battle starts a knight goes in front of the warrior your unit is still targeting the warrior. The only time units switch to attacking the closest enemy is when the first unit that they lock on to at the start of the battle dies.
Doesn't it make sense for my units to attack the unit that's attacking them though? Makes no sense that my units would target a unit that shifts to the back line as the enemy formation moves but that appears to be what's happening. Not sure how to really counter that maybe I can use it as a strategy against the AI.
Fun video as always :D I'd love to see you do some more human commanders as well. You can unlock every faction with every faction, so you can keep unlocking even when trying new commanders with the humans.
@@Tyrann7 Excellent! A commenter mentioned this on the last video which really opens it up! I think I'll go Uthgar in the next one, then we'll revisit a human commander! Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for your awesome support!
Got many options that for sure! Thanks for checking out the video my friend, glad you enjoyed! I'm also glad that I finally got a 'W' with the Greenskins, Let's Go!!
The Orc Warrior would have been a decent fit with all of the Brutal buffs we were getting. I didn't want to take any crazy risks with the 0 fate we had. One pack of Dark Mages would've ended the run! Thanks for checking out the video my friend!
Yes you're correct, and this doesn't make sense to me! The dev just let me know that they just released a FRESH update that changes this so units will target what's closest to them now. Furthermore, apparently, you're able to tell specific unit groups to target other specific groups (IE: I can tell my cavalry to target their archers) it's going to completely change the way the game is played! Look for that in our next run with Uthgar and thanks for viewing!
Great recommendation! I am also compelled by the Huscarl too. Seems the Barbs need a lot of unit variety on the field to make use of their unique trait but a nice front line of Huscarl seems like a good foundation to me. Thanks for checking out the video my friend!
Why are you evenly distributing the fighters along the front? Wouldn't it be better to put a decoy from one unit on one flank, and concentrate the rest on the other? So you will beat the enemy piece by piece.
Good observation and tactic for sure. In this one, I was very confident in the durability of my black orcs so I didn't feel the need to use many decoy tactics. Check out the Shaman run, I'm using a lot of decoy tactics in that one. Thanks for viewing!

i like this compact battle system. pair it with a full-fledged kingdom management element and they might be on to something.
Absolutely! Good recommendation. Thanks for checking out the video!
Uthgar.
Good run man. The Bards should give you another chance to refine your formational tactics.

That black orc man!! 💯
Amazing unit!!
What a run that was! Super tight until the Black Orc unlocked the run. Let's go!
Excellently stated! Thanks for checking out the video!
i mean stonecrusher seems #1, but using horseman might be neat lol gj!!!

You should be taking charges from enemies with peons
That's a good idea! Thanks for making it my friend!
Orcs are know for one thing the swarm tactics
We were definitely swarming with the Peons but that only got us so far! This run was in great peril until... :D
@ I suggest bone crusher bc of the housecarl
@@tylermiller4027 That'll likely be the commander I'm going with for the Barb run!
That’s great I can’t wait for it

Units target this nearest opponent at start and dont choose a new target until it is dead

Uthgar Bonecrusher, an see if the Huscarls, can do as good as the Black orcs did.
