God is the Light

In today’s message, God’s people are reminded that God is light. Reading from 1 John 1:5-7 Apostle Paul tells us that God is the light and there is no darkness in God. What is the light? In James 1:16, we see a definition of light (that everything good and perfect comes from God the source of light). In Genesis 1:3, God said let there be light and there was light. With God, there is no darkness. The light that we have that disperse darkness is just a trace of the nature of God. In John 1 Christ is the word of God which is light, and darkness cannot overcome. In John 8:11 Jesus speaking to the disciples says, ‘I am the light of the word’. This is why as believers we must walk in the light that we have received from him. If we say we are followers of Christ, we must stay away from darkness. To walk in the light, we should activate the light by the word of God and the holy spirit. Secondly by association. We must watch the relationships and people we associate with. Righteousness cannot be in partnership with unrighteousness. Let us surrender ourselves to God and ask for his spirit to come and teach us to walk in the light of God. Amen.
