- this sure is taking a while huh
edit: thank you so much everybody who's seen this! this is very much still a WIP, i still need to finish a lot of backgrounds and will probably change more of the backgrounds that i wasn't very happy with originally. but i really appreciate all the positive feedback!
since this was uploaded i've had a rough few months, so i haven't made much progress since. i definitely plan to start working on this again soon now that it's gotten attention. thank you again to everybody who's enjoyed this, it means a lot :)

I both hate yet respect Boas decisions. Its sad animus magic is gone, because of all the good that can be done, but all the bad that could be done is also gone. I feel like Tui used a cheep escape to get rid of the mary sue power, but tbh it must be so hard to write this power. Like an animus could just delete everything if they wanted, so jerboa deleted it first before anyone else could commit more atrocities.
Not sure if im reading too much into it but i think boa said that the animus magic would only stop working for the current animus dragons alive today so maybe there is still a chance for the future generations to have animus magic again?

@@Twilightwolf34820specifically she said no animus dragons, past, present or future could undo the spell, but she only said all animus dragons alive today can never use magic again. So technically magic still exists it just can’t be used to give this specific generation their powers back.
Remember darkstalkers scroll? Kinkajou would still have plenty left. And we never heard what happened to it after. If they could replicate it, it’s not any new enchantments, it’s still the scroll.
Dude, honestly jerboa is one of the most compelling characters we have seen. I honestly wish we stayed in her pov longer. I want to see her discover herself after a lifetime of animus mind games. Out of all the animus dragons I think she is ironically the one least tempted by its power because of her negative experience.
Thats it, you have convinced me. I completely understand why Jerboa got rid of animus magic for good, I mean, imagine just constantly being re-enchanted and having those memories all those years ago back in *Darkstalker's time* even?!
I mean, tbh- Darkstalker Legends had brutal animus everywhere. So, to remind us that she has *memories* of those events has made me understand the reasoning behind it.
Poor Boa.
Boa (2nd Jerboa) was one of my favorite characters in wof. She didn't deserve to go through all that she did. I wonder if she even knows that she only came to life because of her mother's enchantments.
This pmv is absolutely amazing. It's shocking how these two only get really like 2 chapters in the whole series to really dive deeply into their characters and yet SO much of their lives is left to the imagination (in both the cruelity and the looping aspect of Boa's character and all the dragons she knew but was forced to forget or leave.
When I read her backstory I was completely traumatized I’m cryingg
The angles, the anatomy, the detail, the story telling. This is by far the best Jerboa pmv i've seen yet.

Love the little Moonbli bit at the end. Moon and Qibli were probably the only dragons other than Glacier to not demand anything from Jerboa. And they're really cute together.

this is uttely phenomenal, and really hits hard. you perfectly captured how the original Jerboa is a horrifying, abusive, narcissistic mother. it really gave me chills. but the ending was so peaceful and it shows perfectly why our favorite Jerboa put an end to animus magic.
it also really hits home that abuse of animus magic was the reason why Glacier died, and Glacier might have been the only dragon in countless years who genuinely treated Boa like she was her own dragon.
Most people will not understand this connection but-
These two remind me of (Ex)Queen Elara and (King)Prince Maven. It was stated in the book how she tainted his mind, changing what she didn’t like, by the time she was finished he was barely even himself anymore but rather her .
Sounds quite like Jerboa and boa’s relationship .
Your storytelling is so strong & your style fits super well with the music! My fav part was when she walks with “please stop complaining,” everything about her stance is incredibly expressionate

I think Freedom and Jerboa are the two dragons who suffered the most in the whole series. Both of their fates made me cry a lot. Thanks for this PMV.

Gods, i wanna repeat what everyone has been gushing about already (for good reason), but there's this one moment everyone looks over:
Right at the end, when boa mouths "never again". That is SO MEANINGFUL. She has seen these atrocities commited firsthand, she has been victim to them. She _knows_ the horrors that come with being an animus. Shes seen it over and over and over, and it's left her PARALYZED with fear. We see this throughout the THOUSANDS of years shes lived. She watches life after life get taken because of this magic, and she's scared, terrified to do anything against it. Yet, the one thing she musters up the courage to do. She can make sure it never happens again.
"Never again."
I genuinely love this (and the subsequent updates!) so much. I come back to it whenever i remember it, especially for that last line.
wow, this rules! The compositions, the pacing, and what a great song choice!!! It even had an interlude that you used for Boa!!! So amazing!!!
This rules! I also really love your character design- each character is unique, but not too busy, and the designs are faithful to the og art, but not so much that each frame would take ten days (seriously- sooo many scales on those guys!) 10/10 in my book!

Is that underrated I smell?
I HAVE ALOT to say about this pmv, even when no finished. First of all, i love the artstyle! I like that designs are relatively simple, but also have rlly nice expressions. Just aaaghr, the shapes. And music choice! Tally Hall is always good music choice, and it very much fits with the character. I also love the little detail with Jerboa iii/boa, having first simple black pupils, but after Jerboa I touches her, they have white stuff in them. Both symbolizing how much Jerboa I has control over her daughter, and also how she experiments with her, changing her to her will. Too boring? Change. Too nice? Change. Make her do dirty work, and when sometimes goes back just go to square one, make her little again. Erase everything from memory. Like ough, Boa had like. So many dragons that did care for her, but no memory of them, of friends she made. Square one, little dragonet again, not knowing bout joys she had. Just her mother, who she feels like she loves, but something rotten is in her heart. It feels wrong, but she cant question it yet. But she finds the scroll. And OH. shit. Even with memory erased, her instincts were screaming, and they were right. Something was wrong, deeply.
And once she is out of Jerboas I control, her pupils, they are full black again. It might not be the best, but she is free, and now sees the damage that animus magic had done, not just to her. But to so many others, innocent or not. She sees clear again. And she knows what she has to do.
"And never again"
And while i dont like the choice to erase animus magic from writing perspective, Tui kinda shoved herself into a corner where she needed to delete the overpowered power (yes water is wet yada yada). Characterwhise however? I love it. Boa, seeing the damage, rotten bodies and hearts, and dying dragons and terrible things happening, she shatters the tablet, or whatever it was in the book. No more suffering from that power, no matter how many dragons it upsets. Risks are simply too large.

OH MY GOSH- I seriously can’t even begin to describe how PERFECT everything is in this pmv.. the scenes are beautiful, and your style is so cool!! All the scenes match the song so well!!

This looks amazing! The anatomy, the expressions and oh wow, the art style! You’re an amazing artist, keep up the good work! You’re very underrated. One thing I recommend is totally my opinion, but maybe make the Sand Wing horns shorter and a tiny curve on the end, it adds to elegancy with Jerboa |.

Coming back to this a month after I first watched it, and I feel the need to share this story. This animation opened me up to all the music of Tally Hall, and then after listening to that Spotify recommended Cosmo Sheldrake to me. These are now some of my favourite music artists, and I've started to explore new genres of music. (What genre would you call S&AS?) Anyway, thanks for reading if you read this whole comment. I just wanted to share how much this animation caused me to change and grow.

Hey man this is absolutely amazing! I do recommend that you just tweak the colors of jerboa and jerboa II abit like making the original jerboa a bit darker. I cant tell which jerboa is on screen a few times

I feel bad for boa but not fully, her mother jerboa made her out of magic cause she was lonely but I think it just corrupted her from that big of a spell that she went insane and imagined a perfect daughter that was not social and never argued and always had to agree with her. It’s sad that she knows that she’s basicly not real and went through 2k+ years of her mother resetting her and being crule but in secret
jerboa wasn’t a very good mother, erasing her own daughters personality and memories again and again. which makes me like the jerboa 2 more.
