Building the kitchen units, our lpg cooker and rain delays.. building a van in the street in the UK!

  • This is how we have framed out our kitchen cabinets and fitted our voyager 4500 lpg gas cooker in our diy self built campervan. Unfortunately the rain has slowed us down but we did manage to get the gas and water gauge fitted.

    I've watched 2 videos so far. ( Found you because I'm searching and watching electrical wire-up video I can find on here 🙂I LOVE watching people's ideas and creativity on their wiring jobs. Yours was no exception 🙂) I've really enjoyed them. I liked this one because you had SOOOOO much train of thought and just mind flowing throughout the video. The stuttering, the hesitations and new ideas running through your head as you were in the middle of doing it! Really awesome and VERY much how I do my stupid videos 🤣. (They are more for me to go back to see what the heck I was thinking at the time I made the decision.) I'm really looking forward to watching more of your videos on this project! Thanks for taking the time!

    loved how you were trying to work out where to put the new gauges. if they'd arrived when you were doing the original panel, you could of possibly turned the switched round 90 degrees so they were vertical then put the gauges next to it. but it'll work the way you've done it just as well. keep up the incredible job Lou.

    HEY! Great video! There’s a tool you need that’s a total game changer. It’s called a multi tool. It can have interchangeable fittings. One (which most come with) is an inch wide saw blade. It would cut your holes out for your water and gas levels like butter. So easy. They are brilliant! Screwfix part number 622FX.

    • @campervibe
      @campervibe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Coming along great guys ! Using the hacksaw blade, "necessity is the mother of invention" .
    Like you, I have been pissed off with the weather, that said, rather it now than when I get the new van to start on . Time "might " be my nemisis though , REALLY hoping to be on the road by end of March. That might mean a three week build to hit that target . Eeeeeeeeeek lol
    You guys ever considered doing a "parts" list , might be a pain to do now BUT , if via Amazon, you would get a small cut ( customer does not pay , far as I know for that )
    Be safe be warm guys

    • @campervibe
      @campervibe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, a 3 week build is ambitious!! I think if you can work on it all day every day you will be OK lol.
      I think we could do a parts list after we've finished, at the moment we only have weekends to work on the van and get the videos out and that is hard enough, that little thing called a job seems to be really slowing us down lol. Good luck with your build, keep us posted on how it's going 😁👍

I'm trying to balance planning endlessly upfront vs just cracking on (and not making mistakes!)

    • @campervibe

      Yeh pretty much. The electrics I had to spend hours/days/weeks researching as I genuinely didn't have a clue and wanted it to be safe. • @campervibe

      Thank you 👍 and yes I have considered it lol! We have tried to limit the weight as best we can, lightweight ply, thin cladding etc. Hoping to get it weighed this week to just double check where we r at. There is some weight going on the passenger side to try and balance it out a bit. Once it's weighed we'll stick it in a video. Good luck with ur build 👍😁

      Hi, no, I've used some metal L shaped brackets at the back, bolted to the oven through some existing screw points to hold it down. I've then done the same with the gimbal fixings on the side, bolted the l brackets into those, then screwed in into my wooden frame.
