A live streamer reserved 3 rides at MK this past weekend and entered the park starting at 5:30 PM. He was allowed to make 7 more LL choices before the park closed. Including Tiana after riding BTM. He rode all 10 rides with no problem. So it CAN happen. Fingers crossed everyone.
Disney just needs to create one pass that allows you to skip the line whenever and wherever for however many times you want. Other theme parks do it and it works so much better…..if everybody goes and stands in the “fast line” for seven dwarfs or pandora, then so be. Let everyone stand in line! All these times, reservations, different tiers, different prices, different stuff makes me need to keep a notecard in pocket to remember all of this!
We're going to keep testing it! We've definitely encountered a few glitches since the launch & we're working on learning all the ins and outs of the system
when i was a kid at epcot i would take all our passes and sprint to the sourin fast pass machine then i’d run back and meet my brother half way with the passes at the connections cafe area and he would run to test track and get those passes then we’d all meet at sourin and ride it while the line was 15 mins . great strategy because once you use your fast passes you can get new ones! (THIS IS THE OLD SYSTEM)
Seems like it's basically Fast Pass+ but with a charge and 7 days out vs 30 days. I'm one who hated Genie and we went twice during its time without buying it; however, I may consider this. I hate that they charge for it and I certainly would never buy an individual LL, but I do like that you can get it before your trip and that also doesn't mess with trying to get a virtual spot at the same time.
I'm not even going to get into it but you really missed the boat. They have fixed all the "bugs" that allowed someone who understands the rules to manipulate the system. I rode 15 major attractions in 1 day across 3 parks last time we were there. All those loopholes have been "fixed"
You answered my two big questions! Price for park hopping to a more expensive park (no additional price), and reserving a first tier ride after riding a second tier ride (allowed!). Thanks so much!
Yes, this also used to happen with the old fastpass at 60 days resort bookings. To get the popular rides, you needed to have an extended stay of approx 10 to 14 days and book the popular ones at the end of the trip.
It kind of forces you to come early in the morning if you want to have a chance to get more than 3 in one day. Seems like all the good stuff will be gone later in the morning/afternoon just like before.
Last few visits with the genie plus. We used 8-9(whatever the max number was) at MK with no issues. Thought it was so worth it. We are going back in December, so hopefully we can get similar experiences!
Can you make a vid of all the resting palces in disney? Places to relax or have AC and whatnot? Like the hidden garden behind the england pavilion in epicot or the hall of presidents theater(which is nice and cool and theres not a lot of ppl there)
I just wanna add for anybody who’s feeling a bit intimidated by all this, I’m a Florida resident and we visit the parks frequently. We have never purchased these lightning lane passes and at a MINIMUM.. on a busy day, we’re able to get on at least five or six rides. We also stop to eat, shop and enjoy just walking around a little bit… etc. So without these passes, you’re still able to get a good amount of stuff done. Especially if you are coming on a slower day/time of year, you’ll be able to do accomplish even more rides! These passes aren’t 100% necessary to enjoy your trip to Disney.
@@ThousanWhite Ok... And? What’s your point? Cause despite whether you live here or not, just speaking from lots of experience from having gone to the parks throughout all different times of the year.. I have never purchased a lightning lane/fast pass and still get done a good amount of rides staying the majority of the day. Why does it matter that I live here? Those character meet & greets, at least the most popular ones, are far more worthy of being in the Lightning Lane system than some of the shows that you typically can walk right into anyway. Too bad they dropped those meet/greets from LL.
Regarding "stacking," with MultiPass you get three rides and can keep it at threecall day. With Genie+ you got one ride and could stack if you do not use the ride and add more rides, you could stach a maximum of ?8? rides if you do not use any of them. With MultiPass you can always have three rides regardless of how may you have ridden.
Feeling a bit defeated as an international guest... Spoke with Disney over the phone and they said they're unlikely to change this system so I guess we're second class visitors now 😓 Hope that one day this changes and we can follow the guide in this video too 😢
you can only pre-book if you are already (therefore live) in the US. So an international traveller staying on WDW property can't pre-book, whereas a non resort guest who lives in the US can. So zero point in international travellers staying on WDW property as we are treated less favourably.
Agreed. Hopefully they change that soon because international guests spend WAY more time and money on a Disney trip. I've met several who spend a month. In that situation, you could use it on the last 3 weeks of your trip to the full effect but not the first week. 💔
Was able to book today for August 7th out MK day and there was never an option. Disappointed with roll out of new system. Could limit the amount of times available every day. In return not favoring guests you can afford to stay for super long stays
I really appreciate this video because this LL program is ridiculously confusing! (And, of course, expensive!) Can you do a video that talks more about which rides are in which tiers and the rides you think MUST have LL passes? (I really don't want to spend more than I have to!😂). Thanks!
Anyone outside of the USA had a go using the new system? We went back in May and the system worked well but with all these changes when we return it feels like we won’t have the same flexibility as everything might be booked up way in advance as you can’t start reserving until you’re in the USA!
We have 4 in our group. 2 of us go on all rides and 2 only like to go on about half the rides. Can we split groups up? Sometimes do groups of 2 and sometimes go on groups of 4???
In short, probably. I imagine they wouldnt want to get rid of that same amazing feature they had with our dearly departed "genie plus" where different people in the same group could ride different rides with the system. i for one dont actually know, I belive the new system is one booking per guest, so when going to book, you can simply book different rides for the different people in your party. if none of this currently makes sense, i apologize, i am typing this on a samsung refrigerator screen.
I just got back from Disney world last week the system changed on Wednesday so used both. The new way was better than the Genie+ to me. It was broken up into basically 2 groups. You have 3 picks at a time, 1 pick from the popular rides and 2 picks for the others, or you could pick all 3 from others, on top of of the single buy passes for the few most popular rides. It worked, on my Epcot day, we stood in only 1 standby line the entire day, we park hopped to Hollywood using the Skyliner which was great. Advice pick a non prime ride earlier to be able to continue your picks, and you can only ever have 1 pick at a time for the prime rides. Had a large group so it was easier to coordinate using the new way.
@@jondyer6602 when you say large group, how large are we talkin? I have a group of 10-11 in January and I’m worried the big group size will make it hard to get return times and I should split it into 2 groups.
@camb333 We had 11 people with varying capabilities. Meaning we had a 6yr, 2 that had a tough time with heat, 3 out of shape, 3 which I who consider standard solid 8hrs, and 2 supreme trudgers as in 15hrs and do it again the next day. Saying that, having a master phone with all tickets connected would make it much easier to book lightning passes because you have a 5min countdown to get it booked. With 1 phone with everyone linked you can group schedule as needed. We had it split into two groups because of who was paying, if you can prefigure that out and get reimbursed a master account is optimal.
The international guest thing really needs to be fixed. I can book advanced dining no problem, but not rides? Its nonsensical. Sure, we'll book when we land and likely get none of the rides we want despite staying (on average) longer than US residents - and therefore spending more money. Make it make sense...
@@alanadesilva259 Have you tried it? Any particular VPN you recommend? A VPN was my first thought as well, but I worry it would somehow cancel everything the moment I turned it off
I'd like to see how you'd fare in the park without any of these passes. Considering we're international guests and there might not be any LL worth our while when we get there. Are regular lines even longer now, compared to before? Thanks for all the videos, they've been very helpful!
I’m a fl resident and go to the parks regularly, never get any of this lightning lane stuff and if we staying all day from open to close, we can always get on at least 5 rides minimum on a busy day. On a slower day at the park, you can easily get on more!
Have you tried a strategy of booking some tier 2 "throw aways" & letting them expire to be able to book more tier 1 selections if not going to a park until the afternoon???? 1 video I saw it worked but they were resort guests not scanned into a park yet. 1 video I saw they said it only worked if you were scanned into the park???
You guys are so smart and well-organized. The changes are coming so fast my head is spinning! Thank you for figuring this new system out for us! Question: would you consider doing a video about the DAS changes? There are many people who are giving up on visiting because they can’t get DAS any more. Thanks!
Since the DAS system varies so much and accommodations can be very different person to person it's hard for us to give a clear guide. We have some information on our website, but our best advice is to talk to Disney directly about any questions or applying for the program
If the Lightening Lane booking window for International travelers remains different for those on Canadian /US soil, that may inadvertently benefit Universal as international visitors to Orlando will go there first and then go to WDW second so they can book their LL 3 days in advance. 😉🤔
While there are some advantages for the guest with this new system, as a business owner, I see that these changes were made for the benefit of Disney. With the Genie+ system, I could go to the parks for a day or two, get a feel for the crowds and decide if I wanted to purchase Genie or book ‘fancy rides’ on the fly. This is potentially a big savings for my family of six. Now, guests are incentivized/pressured into purchasing before they arrive at the parks because they are worried about what everyone else is doing. Sneaky Disney. Very sneaky or smart, depending on how you look at it.
I have booked a week in Disney resort later this year. Park Hopper for the entire stay. Sounds like you are saying I can only book LLMP in one park before I get there and I have to wait to book the rest after I arrive and have visited that one park. I originally thought I was going to be able to book all parks starting 7 days out.
You can book in advance rides for one park on any day. Different days can be different parks. After you scan in for the first ride that day , you can book for any osrk that day.
Another park hopping question: what if you only want to use multipass at your second park? Do you still have to buy it for the 1st park or can you buy for the 2nd park and just wait to use it until you arrive at the 2nd park?
Question, what if you say go to Epcot and use the new lightning lane service but then go to MK for the MVMCP. Since it’s not technically a park hopper ticket situation would the service work the same?
Lightning Lanes won’t be offered during the party and I can’t say for sure if you’d be able to book a Lightning Lane before the party officially starts, we’ll see if we can test it out!
So I will be visiting one park each day (no park hopping add on). Can I only make my 3 lightning lane selections for whatever park I'm visiting on the first day? Or will I be able to book three lightning lanes for each park 7 days in advance?
So what about people who are going to multiple parks for multiple days? Is this only for my first park day? Or can I select lightning lanes in advance for all my park days? Or after the first day would I have to get up at 7am like genie plus?
Thank you DFB team, that helped me understand how it works much better. My question is, when do you pay for the service? If I booked MK in advance but adjust to AK do I get a refund or am I not charged until I enter? Thank you 😊
I’m wondering how y’all feel about this strategy. Were park hoppers and were rope droppers. We’re banking on lightning lanes probably be somewhat exhausted later in the day so we’re making our LL for later in the day at our 2nd park and rope dropping say at Epcot…hitting frozen, purchasing SL Guardians. And standby line the others that morning knowing we have some LL for say MK that evening and pre purchasing LL for Tron in evening as well as MP 3 selections. Strategy make sense or no? We will stay on property and be buying some 17 days out. I guess I figure if I did MP for the morning by the time I got to look at MK for evening time the top ones everyone loves could be gone? Mid and low tiers should still be accessible.
There may be some way but it is likely to be challenging. As far as I understand, it can only be booked in the app (i.e. on a mobile device). The app will check the GPS data on the phone, which cannot be masked by a VPN. If it was possible to book on a laptop, it would be easier to get around, as the location would be identified via the IP address. To the best of my knowledge, a VPN can change the IP address, but not the GPS location. I know a lot of international guests, like myself, who are going soon, and we're all pretty disgusted at this rule.
How does this work with rider swap? My husband and I are looking to visit with our 3 year old but dont want to miss out on the big kid rides. 😉 Do we both need to purchase Multipass or just one?
In denmark we just had the debate regarding legoland after a parent overheard the answer another gave to his child: because we can afford it. After his complaining in the press, i wonder if his kid was actually happy for a trip at all & whether they would sacrifice the hot dog & buffet dinner to get fast pass. Because the green with envy & jantelov displayed over the choice others made. While he tried to teach a message that we are all equal at the amusement park to his child. Well 2 hours wait at every ride was what i learned at epcot in 2017 & that we are not created equal but make different choices.
That’s a lie. Disney World has never been a place to “relax”. Just admit you simply lack the patience or will to learn anything new. That’s ok but don’t take it out on the system or fib.
We might just do after hours events and/or parties in the future. No need to stay on Disney Property and no need to pay to enter their lottery system to *maybe* get in a shorter line and be on the phone all day trying to get your $ worth. Then spend the remainder of our vacation time at Universal.
I’m going in 2 days and I only managed to book lighting lanes for Tiana’s, Winnie Pooh and Haunted mansion LATER in the day around 4 pm and after, does that mean I can’t use my other lighting lines units after I ride those afternoon rides?
Do you know how the options for the non Disney resort guest (3 days in advance)? I am going in September of this year and am staying off property. So at that 3 day mark, are there still a lot of options for lightning lanes or are most of them sold out?
It's likely going to vary by time of year and how busy the parks are. We're covering a lot of the nitty gritty details over at disneyfoodblog.com with what availability we're seeing
I'm not a fan of these convoluted systems. It should just be a normal ticket or a fast pass ticket. Keep it simple. I hope this type of system doesn't become more prevalent in other parks around the world.
Yep so not fair for us international (uk) guests that spend thousands for the holiday and can’t even book and loose out at the beginning of our holiday 😢
I’m just a little overwhelmed and I am a Disney long time annual passholder. So I have Park hopper I’m starting at Magic Kingdom I can make my three rides seven days in advance just for Magic Kingdom? I guess I can’t make any reservations until I actually enter magic kingdom is that correct? When I do multipass reservations in my second park do they count against my first park? Help lol
Question here 🙋🏻♀️ If I have a park hopper, set my multi pass up for Magic Kingdom, but I want to walk to Epcot to take the monorail to Magic Kingdom.. Short version: can I still scan into a different park first?
It still blows me away Disney has so many visitors that it has to implement these line systems. I just wouldn't think there would be that many people visiting 365 days a year but I guess I am wrong. Lol. I suppose, the world is a BIG place. Get in line peeps.
No, only 1 day at a time. So if your trip is Friday, Saturday, Sunday then at 7 am on Wednesday you can book Friday, on Thursday you can book Saturday and Friday you can book Sunday.
When you are staying off site and can book up to 3 days in adavnace, are you also able to book for your entire stay (up to 14 days) like you can if you were staying on site?
Question: I am staying at disney resort and have park hopper. I should be able to book LL 7 days in advance at 7am. Our first park is MK so that will be the park I start booking LL first. Do I need to wake up 6 days before at 7 am also to book for our next park Epcot or is that not how it works? Do you book all park day LL on day 7?
I am so lost! What if I just want like 3 rides my whole visit and the rest will be a festival? Those three would be top tier. Do I have to ride things I don’t want to be able to get passes on the ones I actually want to ride?
You’ll need to redeem one of those lightning lanes and then you can start booking without worrying about tiers. Tiers go away once you’re using it for the day, but you’re locked into using those tiers when you book in advance
Got up early to try to get Tiana's 3 days prior to our visit. Got on the second it opened and this was already gone. Any tips on how we might still be able to get to ride this ride??? So very sad
Does anyone know how this works with split stays? I'm coming with my group from the UK in Feb. We have 14 days tickets but staying at 2 different resorts (BCR for 7 days & PVR for 7 days). Do I have to wait until check in day at Beach Club to book for the second half of the trip?
I wonder if WDW will ever add ALL PhotoPass photos to the Multipass. I understand why there are so many differences between the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Multipass systems, but why is DL given ALL the PhotoPass photos and WDW given only on-ride photos? I wonder what the reasoning is.
This makes my head spin 😵💫
This whole process is insane.
I’m so confused
It makes a Disney world vacation like a chess game!!😮
I miss the really old walk up to a kiosk fast pass. They felt like they were not as over present in the parks and lines would move better.

@@alanadesilva259 Unfortunately this doesn't work. The app crashes no matter what VPN you use. I tried the top 10 on the app store, none worked.
From our tests it seems that you do need to be scanned into the park in order to book a new LL after one has expired
Saw the same thing, would love to see someone test if it’s a resort guest perk or if that was just a system glitch
Mermaid Nina Travels was the video I watched where it worked for her family without scanning into a park but they were staying on property.
I understand that if expired, you cannot book that ride again.
@@DFBGuide thank you!
Is this not literally just FP+ but expensive ??
Can you do rider switch with either multi pass or single ?
Can you choose what rides to put at the top before you get in to choose so you don’t have to scroll?
Is there still virtual cues
Yes and hopefully they stay 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
are these prices for lightning lanes per person in the park for your ticket reservation?
I was in the process of booking disney trip. After watching a few videos of this "new" pass system, probably not gonna be booking my trip.
Thank you DFB team, that helped me understand how it works much better. My question is, when do you pay for the service? If I booked MK in advance but adjust to AK do I get a refund or am I not charged until I enter? Thank you 😊
They have to sort out the international penalty for Lightning Lanes, because it is a penalty.
I wonder if international guests can use a VPN and purchase their tickets at the 7 or 3 day point that way???
been saying that for days. unfortunately I don't know anyone personally from overseas that is coming to Disney soon.
@SCUBA_5teve some people like to complain and look for scenarios to complain about. They are not looking for possible solutions.
@@ianlevine9467we just cancelled our October trip because of this and I won’t be booking till there’s a workable way we can do this.
Can you use a VPN as an overseas guest?
How would one use LL with rider swap?
I have the same question
Can we assume this is for Disneyland as well?
No it's not, only Disney World.
the system in Disneyland is only changing the names, but it'll work like Genie+ did
Going in January for the 1st time 😍🐭✨
Have so much fun!!
@@dfbbreea Thank you so much! So excited!
January is a good month for first trips. Weather mild and crowds not overwhelming . Enjoy
You forgot the real first step!
Step one is to make sure your app is updated.
Does Standby skipper still work with the new system?
So I understand I can book a fourth when I get in the park but can I book a fifth or sixth after I use the other pre booked ones?
you can keep booking as you use up Lightning Lanes, you can always hold 3
So on lightning lane individual purchase rides you can only pick 2 for the whole day in all parks?
Question, if I’m staying on Disney property and I’m part of a party not staying at the resort can I book their lightning lanes when I book mine?
Nope. Not for me. Miss the old Disney experience. This requires too much thinking when all I want to do is relax.
That’s a lie. Disney World has never been a place to “relax”. Just admit you simply lack the patience or will to learn anything new. That’s ok but don’t take it out on the system or fib.
Can you use rider switch with Lightning Lane Multipass and Lightning Lane Single Pass?
yes, you can use rider switch with Lightning Lanes
We might just do after hours events and/or parties in the future. No need to stay on Disney Property and no need to pay to enter their lottery system to *maybe* get in a shorter line and be on the phone all day trying to get your $ worth. Then spend the remainder of our vacation time at Universal.
I’m going in 2 days and I only managed to book lighting lanes for Tiana’s, Winnie Pooh and Haunted mansion LATER in the day around 4 pm and after, does that mean I can’t use my other lighting lines units after I ride those afternoon rides?
yes, but keep checking on the day of your visit, you'll likely be able to move one of those times up to an earlier spot & then start booking more
🤪🤪🤪 My face as i listen to the confusing, strategically, well thought out system of the new lightning lanes
Do you stay on property for your whole trip?
@@TheDisneySlowdown yes
9 days until I’m in paradise

@@dfbbreea Im back from my trip and have to wait another 2 years to go back 😥
I’m just a little overwhelmed and I am a Disney long time annual passholder. So I have Park hopper I’m starting at Magic Kingdom I can make my three rides seven days in advance just for Magic Kingdom? I guess I can’t make any reservations until I actually enter magic kingdom is that correct? When I do multipass reservations in my second park do they count against my first park? Help lol
Question here 🙋🏻♀️
If I have a park hopper, set my multi pass up for Magic Kingdom, but I want to walk to Epcot to take the monorail to Magic Kingdom.. Short version: can I still scan into a different park first?
Will there still be the virtual que for free at 7:00am and 1:00pm? Or is have to buy the multi pass or single pass only
It still blows me away Disney has so many visitors that it has to implement these line systems. I just wouldn't think there would be that many people visiting 365 days a year but I guess I am wrong. Lol. I suppose, the world is a BIG place. Get in line peeps.
It doesn't. They're just money hungry.
So for folks staying off campus, can we book our LL’s 3 days out for the entirety of our trip? Or just our first park reservation?
I believe it is for the entirety of the "window" your tickets will fall into.
No, only 1 day at a time. So if your trip is Friday, Saturday, Sunday then at 7 am on Wednesday you can book Friday, on Thursday you can book Saturday and Friday you can book Sunday.
Hi! Do you think I need or do they offer LL at the Mickey not so scary?? 😊
They don't offer or need LL at the special events. Even Tron has a standby queue.
When you are staying off site and can book up to 3 days in adavnace, are you also able to book for your entire stay (up to 14 days) like you can if you were staying on site?
No, just 1 day at a time
Question: I am staying at disney resort and have park hopper. I should be able to book LL 7 days in advance at 7am. Our first park is MK so that will be the park I start booking LL first. Do I need to wake up 6 days before at 7 am also to book for our next park Epcot or is that not how it works? Do you book all park day LL on day 7?
I just wanna go to Disney world have fun and wait in 15 minute lines
will never happen
I want to go to and from work without sitting in traffic.
Hurricane days are good for that 😂
I am so lost!
So very sad
Definitely keep trying, Lightning Lanes will pop up even day of your visit. Otherwise, try for that virtual queue at 7am or 1pm
